"Triage Transformed Our Workflow Management"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

I appreciate Karbon's feature called Triage because it's a game changer for me. It really helps by preventing me from getting sucked into dealing with items as soon as they land in my inbox. Instead, it guides me to prioritize work. Although there's a steep learning curve initially, once I got past that, using Karbon became a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

I really struggle with the time keeping, a pop up to remind me to start a timer when I open a work item would be great. There's a steep learning curve, but as soon as you crest the peak it is a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"KARBON - What more could you want?"
5/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

KARBON is a really easy product to use and navigate. With it's various integrations continually improving, it's bound to be the stand out product in the market for an all-in-one CRM. Setup was easy and painless (from memory), we use it all day, everyday. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

The 'billing' feature has been a bit clunky in the past, but now with the added integration directly with XERO, I see this being a much smoother process in the future. Customer support can sometime be difficult due to the time differences, so finding your local rep is essential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust Workflow Management, But Billing Needs Flexibility"
4/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

The workflow management is very robust, and along with Triage, it has the biggest impact on my day-to-day work. I like the time entry format - daily, with a weekly time card - which makes things easy to track. The timeline feature, the Triage, and the integration with email make managing a busy inbox much more manageable. I use all of those items on a daily basis. Karbon's workflow management is better developed than what I had with Canopy. The implementation specialist we had, Brian, was very good. Some aspects of setup were easy, some time consuming, but not very complicated. The positives outweigh the negatives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

{"Billing is not as easy as other PMs I have used. It needs to be more flexible.","It should allow the grouping of multiple time entries into a line item for billing, and then the grouping of other time entries into a separate line item - all on one invoice.","Stripe is far too expensive - especially for an ACH.","The engagement function is useless at this point. I know it is in Beta.","It should allow for engagement agreements to be sent - using my firm's letterhead and branding - and esigned.","We have 500 clients - and we have to manually send out 500 engagement letters. We won't be using engagements until that can be done 1) in bulk using client data, 2) done on our branded letters.","These are big limitations - and there are more."} Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Karbon Streamlines Practice Management with Powerful Workflow Automation"
5/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

Karbon is a cloud-based practice management platform that helps accounting and bookkeeping firms streamline their work by centralizing client communication, task management, workflows, and team collaboration. Its most helpful features include email integration, automated recurring workflows, progress tracking, client request management, and workload planning, allowing teams to stay organized, improve efficiency, reduce manual administration, and ensure deadlines are met while providing full visibility into the status of client work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

One of the least helpful aspects of Karbon is that it can have a steep learning curve due to its wide range of features and workflow customization options. Smaller firms or new users may find it takes time to set up and fully adopt, and some advanced reporting and customization capabilities are more limited than those offered by specialized analytics or business intelligence tools. Additionally, its pricing can be relatively high for small teams or businesses with simple workflow needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Task Management Made Effortless, Email Needs Work"
5/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

I like the tasking in Karbon. It allows us to update a job and move the job around from person to person for clarity, ensuring things don't get lost. I also like how we can record information against each task and each job, and it stays with the clients. So if we have to go back in the future to look for something, it's all specific to that client. This helps me not lose information and keep up to date with the client. Being able to record all that information efficiently means that I can always go back to a client file and find what I'm looking for. It also helps me ensure I don't miss anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

I'm not a fan of the emailing side of things. I don't like the way it connects old emails or does the email history. I just find it hard to follow. It's, sometimes when you go into email, and you're trying to find an attachment, it's not always easy to track the attachment back. It just seems a little bit clunky at times or overwhelming, I guess, is probably the word. It was a bit clunky at first. The person who did do it wasn't really across what should have happened, and it was, we did make a bit of a mess of it in the beginning. We still have had a few hiccups with things because there's so much involved, I guess, in the back end, especially when you're doing repetitive type tasking. "Karbon Keeps Emails on Track and Workloads Organised with My Week"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

I have two key reasons why I recommend Karbon. First, the tag emails feature is extremely helpful because it means emails very rarely go missing, and it also allows colleagues to stay up to date when someone is on annual leave, etc. Second, I really like the My Week feature. It essentially gives you an online, priority-based to-do list and helps keep your workload organised in a manageable order. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

The only minor issue I’ve found with Karbon is that when sending emails, it doesn’t include an importance option. That feature can be really helpful when you need to flag an urgent email to clients, colleagues, and others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Karbon Streamlines Client Triage and Collaboration with Minimal Downtime"
5/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

Karbon helps me see my progress with multiple clients at the same time, helping me triage who needs my attention most on a given day. It is also a simple matter of a few clicks to assign work to a colleague if I need assistance, or to simply tag them on an internal note if I need their input. Karbon truly makes collaborating with our distributed workforce very smooth and easy. It is key in allowing us to standardize our workflows across clients, and making the small adjustments to meet specific needs is also simple and clear. It was incredibly easy to pick up the basics as a new user, and my coworker who knew the system better was able to guide me in deeper utilization of the tools. The price is also excellent, given how much time I spend using Karbon each day. And compared to the rest of our tech stack, Karbon has had the least glitches or down time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

Because Karbon is complex, there are sometimes issues with not reassigning work at the correct level, or editing a repeating workflow but not reloading future items....but these are user errors and not an issue with the software itself. I haven't yet encountered an issue with the program, but I assume I will at some point. Given their regular rollout of updates and new features, I expect any problems would be fixed quickly. "Karbon- great do it all practice management system."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

One of my favorite features in Karbon is the work timelines. It makes it really easy to have all the communication regardless of which team member it is going to or from, all in one spot and related to different work items. The usual setup is very easy and pretty straightforward. If you already have information in a system, it makes it pretty easy just to transfer into Karbon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

One area of improvement in Karbon would be the billing platform. There's a couple of things that I think should be better. One would be to have if you have a flat monthly fee, to be able to automatically send out invoices and charge that fee. Currently, it's a manual process. Another one would be to have the option to send an invoice and not have it on autopay. If the autopay method is in someone's profile, if you send an invoice, it automatically gets paid with no option to just have an invoice sent without that payment being drafted. "Full visibility, great support, constantly improving"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

The client timeline is one of the most prominent and also one of the best features of Karbon. Being able to see not just my own emails but those of colleagues, plus internal notes and tags, means we have the full picture of what's happening with a client without having to ask around. This is particularly useful when a client calls unexpectedly or we're picking up work usually dealt with by another team member.

Close behind that is how intuitive the platform is — even without formal training, it's easy to find your way around, which in practice means new team members get up to speed very quickly and even if you've not done something before, it's incredibly easy to work it out.

The support is also worth highlighting. We have regular meetings with Ryan, our Customer Success Manager, who provides us with an overview of our firms usage and is on hand to help with new features and provide training to individuals and the team as a whole.

Finally, the fact that we've been with Karbon since 2020 and have actively reviewed competitors in that time — and still not moved — probably says it all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

There aren't many features we dislike and Karbon are constantly improving the platform, so issues don't tend to stick around for long. That said, there are a couple of areas that could work better for us.

A number of our staff have struggled with the My Week feature, particularly those whose workload comes from emails rather than work items. Tasks that arrive via email aren't easy to plan into My Week, meaning it isn't utilised as much as it could be across the whole team.

The other area I'd flag is the search function. Being able to search within cleared or sent items would be really useful — finding older email correspondence isn't as straightforward as it could be, which can slow you down when you need to refer back to something. "Flexible, Customizable Workflow That Keeps Tasks and Communication in One Place"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Karbon?

Karbon is a flexible system that lets you customize it to the needs of the firm, the client, and the team. It makes it very easy to communicate with both the client and the work group, and it is very easy to set up work items and access everything about a given task or project all in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Karbon?

There are some opportunities for user error to stop the workflow without it being flagged anywhere. So if a work item is reassigned but the tasks within it are not, it will not move to the work week on either staff member. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
