What do you like best about Kanban Zone?

How easy is to create, modify and manipulate boards, there is really no limitations on how simple or complex you need to design a board.

It is simple, intuitive, it just works !

The costumer support is superb, I have sent questions, or requests to the support team and I get a personalized email FROM A HUMAN within minutes. I have reported some bugs and they get resolved within the hour !... I have also asked for special functionalities to be incorporated and as they make sense and are generic, they got implemented within a couple days ! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Kanban Zone?

I would love a more granular security system where you could assign read or write access to specific cards

Recommendations to others considering Kanban Zone:

Kanbanzone takes away all the hassle and complexity of building and configuring your electronic board and allows you to immediately focus on what is important, work your project out

Start with a minimal basic set so you can start working immediately and add complexity to your board as you go

Use the Custom Fields, its a great way to get all you need from your board. You can for example, create one field to enter the product and track different products or projects within the same board.

Eventually, learn how to use the Public API, that will allow you to integrate your board with other applications for analysis or work reports. I use this API to publish my team's productivity statistics using Power BI.

Encourage the use of Kanban Cards not only to track the project's tasks but also to plan and organize the daily activities within your team.

I ask my team to plan ahead their week of work and create and update the board which we will review once a week to identify possible blockers and in general, have visibility of our job.

If you have a team geographically disperse, an electronic board is the best option to implement your Agile methodology, some electronic boards are very complex to understand and configure for the first time, Kanbazone makes it really easy for me and my team. By entering and following up the activities that I need to cover during the week allows me to properly direct my efforts and the effort of my team towards specific goals

The lack of different visualization, like per-person lanes, and the fact that adding new cards to a lane is somewhat difficult, as it always goes to the backlog. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Thank you for your feedback about the ability to "create boards of different kinds and shapes". This is one of our key features and something that other tools can't do because they use perfect grids, instead of flexible containers.

Please note that Kanban Zone has no desire to be bloated like Jira, or what you refer to as fully-featured ;-) In fact, people switching from Jira to Kanban Zone are doing it for the simplicity and accurate metrics.

Thanks to your review we will revisit the ability to create cards outside of the backlog. Regarding the per-person lanes, we will not add that feature because it promotes silos within a team and viewing cards per person can easily be achieved with our filters. We sincerely appreciate your honest feedback and will continue to seek to strike a balance between cool features and respecting the Kanban methodology.

The API's! We were able to integrate it into our website to enhance our processes. Now forms and feedback on the website create a card and are auto assigned. This has greatly increased our process response time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Kanban Zone is for business oriented tasks, if your looking for a solution that is geared towards managing more technical projects, I would use another software. For organization like PMI where most tasks are less infrastructure like, it's ideal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Harrison, you are using Kanban Zone within the context of your PMI chapter seeking a collaborative solution to leverage Kanban to improve their internal processes. It's doing exactly what they are seeking for the overall PMI chapter.

You are correct that Kanban Zone is meant for improving the flow of work across the organization, not only for software development. This is what makes us different. If you are strictly seeking an issue tracker then Atlassian is great for that.
