Horrible customer service, horrible benefits administration.
Justworks doubled our benefits costs after the first year (literally DOUBLED). We were under the impression that the point of Justworks was for a small company to share benefits with others, but I know other people who use Justworks for their company and their benefits didn't double in cost.
We asked to cancel our account and they slow played it long enough to claim it was too late to cancel and we'd have to pay them another month.
Once we finally got them to agree to accept our cancelation of benefits, they told us they'd still have to charge us but they'd refund us a month later (we're talking about thousands and thousands of dollars at this point). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have been using JustWorks for over 4 years now and use it every day. They constantly update their product to include new features, integrations, and corollary offerings (for example, expense reimbursement, time off management, and accounting system integrations). Another standout component is their excellent customer service. Whether on the phone or via email, their customer support is always willing to go above and beyond to help resolve issues or to answer questions. Their user interface is also very easy and constantly evolving. They integrate with a lots of backend software, like QBO and Xero. We have been very happy with JustWorks and recommend it to all! As JustWorks expands its offerings and increases our dependencies on it, we would love to see them expand into time management (for time tracking billable hours or even for cost accounting) and provide an insurance or business policy marketplace. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the price and we are very happy with the benefit pricing and selection. The benefits team is responsive and compared to Trinet our benefits pricing is outstanding. We have now been through one renewal and the price did not sky rocket in year two as we were warned it would. Zero complaints on that front. The simple pricing is also a huge plus. No guessing, no gimmicks. The price is what they say it will be. I also really like the way they send notices about upcoming payments. In case you need to ensure you move funds around, you are never caught off guard. The integration with Quickbooks works as well, I do wish we could get things more granular from an invoicing integration perspective, but it certainly works. The solution itself leaves so much to be desired. I find myself constantly saying it just barely works. It is basically a filing cabinet. I do not feel like Justworks has guardrails to keep me on teh straight and narrow. If you are an HR guru, you can use Justworks and it will do what you need. I am not an HR expert. I would prefer it if my PEO had some guardrails up. For instance, terminating an employee in a state that requires immediate payment to the employee. Justworks tells you this, but the system doesn't actually do it. Instead, you have to delete the payment the system makes and then pay out of your direct bank. Annoying and both Trinet and Rippling do it for you. This is a solved problem. We have many other "little" things that just aren't easy. For example, when we selected the system, we were told Justworks can sync with outlook in terms of calendars. This was an important feature for us as we wanted an easy way to track vacations and eliminate the need for people to book OOO of their calendars for vacation. Sadly, after many many many support calls and assurances it was an us issue, not a Justworks issue, we had a call with Justworks and Microsoft only to have Justworks finally admit this is a known issue that is not yet solved. Terminating an employee is super simple. There is also a cancel button to cancel a termination, also super simple. However, we found out the hard way, if you cancel a termination the employee is removed from benefits unless you call Justworks directly. Mind you, there is nothing that says this, no warning at all. So cancelling a termination doesn't really cancel it completely. There is no system to track your support tickets. There is also no report showing all your support tickets. I’ve been using Justworks for the past three years as an employee at a company partnered with them, and my experience has been consistently positive. The platform is intuitive and easy to navigate, and getting set up was a breeze. The Justworks support team has always been responsive and helpful whenever I’ve needed assistance.
Submitting PTO requests, filing timecards, and accessing company benefits are all straightforward tasks. Whether you interact with Justworks daily or just occasionally, I highly recommend it as a reliable payroll and benefits solution—both for employees and organizations. Justworks is extremely easy to use and it has everything you might need to run the operations of a small to medium-sized business. Expenses, payroll, time off, HR, and taxes are all included. There is even more functionality, but we only use the basics, as that is all we need. Setting up the platform for our company was very simple and fast, and whenever we have questions, their customer support team is always kind and quick to respond. Justworks has slightly convoluted ways of pulling expense data. When withdrawals are made to make payments, it's a little inconvenient to have to pull individual invoices through the platform and exporting them, rather than seeing data and manipulating it right in the platform. I just switched to Justworks back in June of 2024. Justworks allows management to focus on what they do best and not have to earn a new degree in HR. The HR suport team is there for you if you have any questions. The PEO dashboard is easy to navigate and very intuative. The best part about Justworks is the 24/7 phone support in case you cannot find what you are looking for. Everyone is super friendly and eager to help find you a solution. I am also using the Time Tracking feature, which is great for my part time employees. They are able to clock in and out on an app and add notes about their shifts so I do not have to ask them too many questions. Lastly, the implementation team was patient and took every necessary step to make sure that my transition from the previous PEO to their platform was smooth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The part about Justworks that is not as smooth is the fact that after I approve the time cards in the Time Tracking system, I have to also re-approve these hours in the main dashboard again in order for these employees to get paid. Justworks provides broad and efficient services in our entire payroll and employee benefits process, but the thing that I find makes the service outstanding is the efficient and pro-active customer service. It's useful to have Justworks's time-tracking software (Justworks Hours) available, as it syncs fairly easily with the Justworks PEO. However, I would prefer if the time-tracking were fully integrated into the main software so that it wasn't necessary to use two different websites in order to combine the two. Justworks makes it easy to bundle everything your business needs in terms of Human Resource management such as Payroll, and benefits. It's a single portal to all the resources an employer and employee would ever need. It's very easy to on-board your existing employees as well as any new hires. It's very conveinient to have everything HR related on one website, so I frequently use it to check my Paystubs, my Health benefits, etc. and they also have integrated their own 401K plans as well ad ROTH IRA plans. Only disadvantage about Justworks is that it's an outsourced solution, as opposed to having an actual, physical HR team. but it's based in the United States and there's a phone number or chat service you can contact them via, so theres help 24/7. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The platform is modern, easy to use, and provides a great experience for our employees! Everything from payroll, benefits, onboarding and offboarding employees is super simple and makes my life as a one person HR team easier. The one thing that would be more helpful is legal and compliance support. JustWorks offers HR consulting for specific issues but you have to request a meeting to speak to someone from that team. As someone who is a one person HR team I wear a lot of hats and don't always have the answer to specific personnel issues. The title really says it all. We had so many tools to help us manage employees and we had manual calendars for PTO. We finally consolidated it all to JustWorks so we have payroll, PTO, expenses and healthcare all inside one place. It's so easy I can't believe it took us so long to final a great tool.
