Asset management, I believe that if JumpCloud created an asset management system for inventories, it would greatly facilitate things because in the daily IT operation, we don't work only with notebooks and cell phones; we have peripherals, internet networks. If we could have this in JumpCloud, it would be of great value as it would centralize the entire IT operation. Today, asset management is very much based on desktops and smartphones. If we could add other items to users, like mice and keyboards, we could have full visibility of IT assets in one place, in addition to network items with Mikrotik, Unifi, among others. JumpCloud does a really solid job unifying identity and device management in a way that feels modern and API-driven. For organizations that are cloud-first and don’t want to maintain traditional on-prem AD infrastructure, it provides a clean alternative that supports macOS, Windows, and Linux in a single console.

I especially appreciate the cross-platform support and the ability to tie users to devices, policies, and SSO apps from one directory. The policy engine for password enforcement and device control is straightforward, and the conditional access capabilities are strong for organizations trying to move toward a Zero Trust model.

Like most platforms trying to be both directory + MDM + IAM, some areas feel deeper than others. Advanced MDM workflows, especially on macOS, can feel less mature than more Mac-native tools. Reporting can also require some digging depending on the visibility you’re looking for.

Pricing can scale quickly as you layer on features, especially if you are using it heavily for SSO, device management, and directory services together. Larger environments may want to carefully model licensing and feature tiers before committing long term.

SCAMMING BILLING. Their system adds users to your account on it's own without your consent, they follow this up with "high watermark billing" for your next billing cycle. In our case, they added twice as many users that we had or needed or asked for or agreed to, and tried to bill us for an entire year based on the users their system added without our permission. It's frankly unbelievable.

My main pain point has been the lack of integrations with a few tools our company relies on. JumpCloud handles the major platforms well, but some of the more niche applications we use every day still aren’t supported, so we have to manage those separately. I like that they continue adding new features, new things that are actually helpful, making it much easier for troubleshooting. When John Smith submits a ticket, I can just go right to his user in JumpCloud, see all the devices he's assigned to, see the policies, and run commands in the background. It means I don't need to remote onto as many devices, and it makes troubleshooting much easier. We've had a few issues, mostly with Microsoft security. When users reset their JumpCloud password and log back into Windows, all their Edge and Chrome passwords are gone. We often face issues with an account being added to access work or school, causing errors when users try to open Outlook or Word until we remove it. I like JumpCloud's integration with Google Workspace and Office 365 because it helps keep our user accounts unified and synced across most of our platforms and services. I also appreciate how quickly commands are sent to laptops, with unlocking and locking user accounts being almost instantaneous. There's some issues with how JumpCloud interacts with macOS FileVault. If an account is locked and then the device reboots, it's impossible to unlock the account until a different user logs in and re-connects to the internet. The admin portal has gotten slower since the redesign, especially the search bar. Alerts/notification channels don't seem to work properly when replaying those alerts via email. We work in a media-centric environment, we move and catalog media assets all day long. This environment is best suited by utilizing Mac laptops and Linux servers. We have very few PC devices. We realized that Active Directory and a couple domain controllers were not appropriate for our environment, too much overhead, too little to gain. Then we found Jumpcloud, our directory service in the cloud.
