## Jira Reviews

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick S. | Marketing Consultant, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Jira?**

it is adjustable and can fit any business and tasks

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

not user friendly intereface more suitable for developers, it is overloaded and complicated in terms of UI

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use it as task manager for DEV team and monitor how they solve our tech problems and new feature requests

 ### 2. Slow and confusing: complex settings and impractical design

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amilker C. | Product Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2026

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It is possible to manage projects with multiple teams.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The entire ecosystem is very slow and confusing. To perform configurations is very complex, I don't like the design, it is not practical at all.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can manage multiple projects in a single account, this helps in day-to-day activities.

 ### 3. Buggy and Unintuitive Despite Good Integrations

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Jira?**

its a mature solution with good integrations

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It is buggy and unintuitive, there are also cheaper / better solutions.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sprint management and issue / project tracking

 ### 4. Powerful Project Tracking, But Steep Learning Curve for New Users

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aditya S. | Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I like Project Tracking capabilities of Jira and it's highly customizable ,agile support workflow. The dashboard and integration with tools like GIT make team collaboration and tracking effectively. Its Customer Support is also good.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It feels complex and hard to use for the new users like me although it is implementation with other tool is good but UI which distrub the ease of use. From long time we are using this frequently.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It Solves the problem of organizing, tacking, and managing work across the team in structured way.

 ### 5. Cumbersome for Daily Tasks Despite Robust Tracking Features

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gonzalo A. | EdTech Implementation & LMS Support Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2025

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Jira has powerful tracking and reporting features. It’s good for teams that need strict workflows, detailed issue tracking, and clear structure across large or complex projects

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

For everyday work it felt heavy and slow. Simple tasks took too many clicks, the interface was confusing, and most people spent more time updating tickets than actually doing work

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jira helps manage complex projects with many tasks, rules, and dependencies. It brings structure and control, but for our team it added too much overhead and slowed things down

 ### 6. A bulky and difficult tool to use.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Garren S. | Founding Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Jira?**

We used JIRA daily for over a year and found it a bulky and over-complicated project management tool. It's ease of use was very low. I also found that it didn't integrate well with our other tools. It supports a lot of features but getting them to work was not easy.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It was very slow. And bulky with way to many features.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management and tasks for the team

 ### 7. Feels too old and classical.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2024

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Tasks history and follow up. Project documentation.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Design it too old school and some times tasks are taking long time to be updated !

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project managements, task follow up, sprint organisation and project documentation.

 ### 8. Works but is clunky and overengineered

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Siddharth A. | Salesforce CRM Product Lead - Senior Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2023

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It works. To be fair to JIRA, it works and if you know how to navigate all its confusing features you can probably do quite a lot with it. There are competitors that are simpler to use.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It is overengineered. It is hard to understand how it all ties together because it is overgineered to a point where the useability suffers. Jira should aim to be simpler

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jira is helping my team keep track of our user story backlog and run our SDLC. It is also used for planning and forecasting. We record all comments on our Jira tickets and I believe our engineering teams have it linked to Git

 ### 9. My personal experience on Jira

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Etienne Modeste E. | Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Jira?**

When using Jira, I especially appreciated its project and ticket tracking and management features. Very useful for team collaboration around projects, it has customisable features that can be adjusted according to your needs. I really appreciated its reporting and analysis capabilities and also the possibility to integrate a large number of other applications.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

What I didn't like most about Jira was that it was heavy and tedious to learn. I find this not very practical for the integration of new team members who waste a lot of time understanding how to use the application. Moreover, it is limited to just 10 users in its free version. It's revolting!

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jira solves various challenges and problems that are faced by teams or organizations in using various tools. Some of these challenges include lack of flexibility, difficulty in customization, difficulty in adoption by teams, extensive training to learn the tool and being expensive.

Sometimes, I use this tool for project management and issue tracking. It provides a centralized platform for managing tasks, bugs, and other types of issues and it helps teams to organize and prioritize their work.

 ### 10. Plenty of features, but makes task management a chore.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John M. | Lead Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I was not an admin when we were using Jira, but it had all of the expected features - complexity fields, time estimates, Kanban etc. and good integrations.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The platform was very slow and clunky, and some features took a lot more manual management than they should have. This factor alone meant task management was its own task and never came naturally. I was limited in terms of creating boards and organising tasks, but I expect this due to the permissions setup.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It supplied Kanban task management, with all the expected features, and integrated with other useful services.

 ### 11. Jira - It can do well for sure

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Setting up a board and automation is something I like about Jira. The relationship between tasks, subtask, stories is intuitive. Doing a decent job if compared to click-up.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The configurations part is most disappointing for me. Associating fields to screen, setting up contex, etc is not intuitive. Look-up is something again I didn't like, it never worked for me and I managed to do my job using filter subscription.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Jira to organise our project management stuff. All our epics, stories, tasks are in Jira and we use Jira to run sprints.

It helps to be on track, notify people and have a high level view of what is being done in the current sprint.

 ### 12. Too expensive, too complex, not much flexible.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel R. | Freelancer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Jira?**

There is nothing I really like on JIRA software.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Specially Pricing modules, I have to pay up to 50 users if we are 26 users.
That applies to every extra module too.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Jira for Agile Project management. I do not see many benefits comparing with other platforms

 ### 13. Most well known project management tool, but so far from the best

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Offered somewhat integrations with the other platforms such as Slack, GitHub, Hubstaff and etc. The notification system was helpful to get up to date with the status of the ticket

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Though this had integrations like with Hubstaff, it took quite considerable time to get it appeared. As an example, if we create a task in GitHub, it takes around 5 minutes to appear on Hubstaff. And it's harder to update a ticket, like moving it to a different epic

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management was easier and Jira was helpful for it. Could stay up to date with the task with the history of the ticket.

 ### 14. Can't believe someone else hasn't beat out these guys for SCRUM and AGILE

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Good record of items. Nothing else. It's a terrible tool in general with not much to like.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Pretty much everything. I hate that there are so many levels of permissions to do basically anything at all; you need to contact your administrator. JIRA ignores user feature requests. I have one that I recently upvoted that has been "gathering interest" for over 17 years. It's an essential feature that they've FAILED to implement because they simply do not make enhancements that matter to their product any longer. It's crazy to me that there isn't a strong enough competitor to improve what they're doing, which isn't much.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Don't.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Like everyone else, managing Kanban and SCRUM boards and their workflows.

 ### 15. Not my favorite platform.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Not a fan in general. Reminds me of the 90s. I don't appreciate much about jira at all actually. We use to track reimbursement at work. Also use to track exposures.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

All of it. Not as automated as it could be and requires uploading documents. Not user friendly in my opinion. Outdated and cumbersome to use. Needs revamping to be better.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

During covid using to track exposures fir employees. Also use to reimburse employees for mileage etc although this could easily be done using Kronos directly instead.

 ### 16. Good for some orgs - bad for marketing and design

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Jira has a useful ticketing system that many project management softwares don't have. That is it's primary use case - but isn't useful for all functions. Beyond ticketing I don't think there are differentiators.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It is complicated to use, hard to explain, has difficult permissioning, and inflexible. It does not work well beyond for software issues, in my opinion.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my experience, the effective ticketing system is the only true benefit of Jura. Everything else can be done better through other project management softwares.

 ### 17. It wasn't as organized and was harder to track down and schedule out tickest

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I liked being able to create a jira ticket within desk

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

I didn't like the organization of the folders. Shortcut has been easier with organization

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We no longer use jira

 ### 18. Too clunky for lightweight users

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | User Experience Designer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Visibility of backlogs, current sprints etc

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

How many features and links are in my face when our team only uses about 15% of it all. It would be great if you could remove/reduce the amount of clutter for your team. This would make the things you actually use a little easier to find and use.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're solving the problem of pipelines and velocity visibility for a large team delivering a vital government service for millions of users each year.

 ### 19. Jira is nice

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Meir E. | Team Leader, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It a widely known and used tool, Has a big community that supports it. The price is ok, The is an option to use It as a regular user and as an advanced user.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The operation of Jira is too complexed, It has too many ways you can adjust anything and sometimes things can get messy and you can't find why, The advanced user mode needs some adjustment because of the proprietary language they use.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ticket handling, It is really important to use a system to hold all the assignments, tasks, and bugs at the same system for better time management and task management. You can personalize your pages and flows as much as you want and need to make it better and easier.

 ### 20. Hard to use, bad experience

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Sprint board gives managers many tool to micro manage.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It is so confusing and disconnected, everything is hard to find.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To manage team tasks.

 ### 21. JIRA met the business needs but was not intuitive or user friendly

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rachel M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Ticket request form fields and set up is customizable to your team's needs and JIRA offers users a number of plug ins that will connect with other Atlassian tools, including Confluence (and coming soon they promise Trello). One can successfully get what they need accomplished, using tags, watching, and moving tickets. The customizable workflows are a great way to set the tool up for any work process and this helped us get up and running with our user request tickets quicker than I would have imagined when we started the process.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The look and feel of the user interface is not intuitive or user friendly - I often find it confusing and the flow of navigating from one thing to the next, or back to a higher-level view of my project's status is clunky. I would like to see it be streamlined with more simplistic visuals and a clearer workflow. As well, when the custom form was built, I find the breaking up (and ability for anyone to edit) frustrating - it's very difficult to get a comprehensive view of what the request is at a glance.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

If enjoyment of UI and ease of flow through the daily use of the tool is less important (as it can be with some developers), JIRA is likely to meet your nneds.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used JIRA as a request intake platform, a system to track tickets after request, and to communicate with end users about the status and timeline of the work they requested. Organizationally, we moved to a different platform but it was a good change. We were able to successfully take in and track requests, set up our own workflow, and complete tickets.

 ### 22. You either love it or hate it

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Radek W. | Platfrom Architect (Python), Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

- Very flexible setup, very customizable
- Workflow you setup can closely match the way you work in real life
- Management likes it for the reports
- Closely tied to confluence wiki (although that wiki isn't great, can be slow, bloated and overly complex to use)

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

- Can be very slow
- They change the UI on you often to the "new" UI, getting rid of what you already got used to
- Can get annoying if you manage it yourself in-house, it does crash often and you need to know Java well enough to figure out the problems
- Atlassian generally takes a long time to fix bugs
- Can get overly complicated i.e. workflow itself can get complex

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Take the time with setting up your workflows, this is the most important. Retraining is required when you change this later in the process.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We manage multiple team (pods) in which we have 1 project per pod. This makes a lot of sense for executives, but on a project basis this does not (for developers) since each development project isn't necessarily its own project under jira.

 ### 23. Ubiquitous in the tech space, but clunky and disliked by many everyday users

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It allows companies to track ticket progress for software features and bugs, with many customization options (if you can figure out how to use them).

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It's very clunky, and can be extremely difficult to figure out how to really customize properly, even for those who have used it regularly for years. It continues to have a surprising amount of bugs, as well, given how massive the company and profit is.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Do a free trial period first, or try competing products like Trello. If you don't need a huge amount of customization (and/or can't afford to pay a consultant to set it all up in your desired way), it's really not the tool for you.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of what stage new features and/or bug fixes are at in the software development life cycle.

 ### 24. Very confusing - can be simplified a lot

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

- Tracking of bugs and tasks is ok.
- Ability to set our own status is good.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

- Very complex to administer.
- Simple task of assigning a user to a specific project is a cumber some process.
- over complication on setting permissions and providing simple access
- There are people that can be assigned to each project. Why is the user seeing all the projects he is not assigned to. If you dig deeper, it comes down to permissions and it is super complex.
- After using this for almost 7 years, with their new "next-gen" project, it is a super cumbersome.
- With no real customer support to help, this is a drag for administrators

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Tracking product development, sprints and managing releases

 ### 25. Might be great for Helpdesk but not great for other users

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Consistent way to track historical records of information, like reports of an issue or a resolution for a specific issue in list form, easily queried and produces good reports.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It could be our implementation but it is a wall of text for the most part on every page. I don't see how I, as a general user, would customize the layouts. I can also assume there is training available but I prefer more intuitive UI than those requiring training for basic users.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Jira is a mainstay of incident tracking departments and scales easily, performs well consistently, and while simplistic it allows for robust searching and delivers results that match the request closely.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jira to search for reported issues with company products/services and/or experience with ordering our products. I am able to search all entered records quickly by type and severity and have found what I needed very quickly.

 ### 26. There has got to be a better way

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Everyone can see the progress of problems within the development process.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Jira uses a lot of tech speak that doesn't translate through the development of a project, so the managers don't understand where something is. It also takes ages to write everything up, which could be better spent on the actual development of working code bases.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Ensure your project is big enough and the team open enough to implement Jira.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are starting a small business which we want to scale very soon. Having Jira has allowed us to see where the scaling problems may be.

 ### 27. It is not terrible

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Fairly simple to use. Easy to on-board near people into using it.
The "tag" people on text and the alerts they get is useful.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Hard to format text in case writing longer text.
Copy & paste from Excel or Word works terribly, generally hard and frustrating to compose tickets/comments.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UI and text editing.
Better copy & paste of images, screenshots.

 ### 28. Not user friendly, but works

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Allows us to track status of projects as a team.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Lack of email rules is very frustrating to the experience

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

If you want a user friendly solution for project tracking, use jira. Might be better used for engineering teams than marketing teams.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly allows us to track project status without excel sheets and stuff. but really we end up supplementing the system with others. Its like a backbone for our project tracking but it has scoliosis.

 ### 29. Hard to use, hard to avoid

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It's super customizable to any workflow, as long as you're willing to put in the time to set it up and maintain it.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Most of the features are overkill for what most teams need, and it can be overwhelming to choose the correct ones for your team.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems solved: tracking current work across the organization. Benefits: being able to see everything everyone's working on in a single tool (as long as you can figure out the right search criteria).

 ### 30. We use it, but no one really loves it

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Everyone here has been using it at several companies so we are familiar with it

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The new redesign has removed much critical functionality with no promised date of it coming back, example being Release tracking

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Requirements and work management across teams

 ### 31. Jira is an Adequate Task Manager, but not Exceptional

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Jira allows me to build tasks quickly and include all the information I need for a client. It allows me to communicate goals clearly and effectively and keep everyone on the same page.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The filter system is not good. Trying to find an old task is nearly impossible. The overall layout of the site is not intuitive and navigating between different sections of the software can be a nightmare.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

There are better solutions to your task management needs out there, but settling on Jira would not kill your business processes.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My business is very task oriented, so being able to organize this in a task manager is crucial to our ability to operate smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

 ### 32. Scrum in Jira

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

How customizable and rich of features Jira is.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The performance of Jira is terrible and the UX is bad.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management, Scrum tool, time tracking

 ### 33. job ticket request support

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It's the primary tool every department at our company uses for submitting job tickets and requests to data services. The tool is easy enough to use and track.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The tool does not easily integrate with our other platforms, especially Salesforce. That makes it tedious in that people need to submit ticket requests twice. It also does not allow for task prioritization, so the internal teams are often at a loss as to what tasks to prioritize. The search function in JIRA also leaves something to be desired.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

I do not honestly recommend JIRA, though I am unaware of a better platform

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to track internal ticket requests -- whether that be for data collection, dashboard development, or any other relevant job function

 ### 34. Not recommended for Agile projects

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I use labels and components quite often to categorize stories, bugs, etc. Drag and drop makes it easy to move items in your board/ sprint/backlog.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Almost everything! It is not designed for Agile. Line a number of other vendors, they seem to think they can just add another module and call it done. Unless you have time to do a lot of customization, you'll find yourself left with little more than a collaboration site. Try understanding progress of a story with just Not Started, In Progress, and Resolved/Closed. Also a huge problem is no way to edit full-screen.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Just because you're using it for waterfall or other areas (QA), don't fall into the trap of "jack of all trades, master of none ". If Agile is an important company initiative, use something that was designed specifically for Agile. Leverage integrations with ALM, etc.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to use this for Agile development from ideas to releases.

 ### 35. Jira Review

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It allows you to organize schedule, product development and team progress in a variety of ways.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It's not easy to use and hard to learn. I watched so many tutorials and still had difficulty understanding it.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of project progress

 ### 36. Need time tracking feature

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

User friendly interface, easy to understand and organize tasks

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Tracking tasks on daily level.
Define deadlines for dependent tasks and impact of delay on dependent tasks is difficult to track.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running Agile development on daily basis

 ### 37. Helpful Tool Could Use Some Impriovements

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I like the ease of use on a Sprint by Sprint basis

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

I dislike the reporting aspect as there are some limitations

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Agile Workflow
Visibility into teams; work

 ### 38. JIRA A Necessary Tool for Large Businesses But Needs Work

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel T. | Android Developer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Jira is good for creating transparency in work progression, keep a log of outstanding issues, and a way to prioritize workflows. It's extremely powerful and has nearly endless features.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Despite being so powerful, the whole product is quite confusing and overwhelming. It can easily break the flow of work and lead to teams chasing jira results.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

JIRA is a necessary evil. It's very comprehensive in its features and has all the tools necessary for any tech team big or small. The tool is not very intuitive and it's difficult to integrate with your current workflow. Until a new project management tool that is easier comes out, JIRA is the solution we have to deal with.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to keep track of team and individual progress, as well as manage sprints, and making sure everyone knows what they're doing

 ### 39. Useful but a bit old fashioned

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robin C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It's simple to create tasks, assign people and describe what you want.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Quite complex when you receive multiple emails after an update.
Looks like a labyrinthine system.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I open a ticket when we find an issue during the implementation. JIRA allows me to follow, prioritize and communicate with the client regarding this.

 ### 40. Jira, hard to setup and maintain, but good for agile teams

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elmar P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

We like the story and agile features best.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

the administration, settings, configuration, rights, continuous changing of features is too cumbersome

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

The administration is hard, sometimes impossible (server errors). Customer support is cumbersome. Jira is nice, but the whole integration/stack is not so nice.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've been using much of the Atlassian stack for dev and CI. However, the setup and administration and config errors were too much, so now only Jira is left for development.

 ### 41. Jira User experiences

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Showing Dashboard and performance summery of stories

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

some time loading time more .. some performance issue. editing the tickets and updating status does not work when server is down or some other issue with jira

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Good tool for project management in small organization

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

project management and assigning the stories to developer

 ### 42. Powerful but hard to use

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Jira is a very comprehensive issue and task management system. It can be molded to almost any methodology and application. It is widely used so there is a large community and many plugins.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Jira is a behemoth, its learning curve is steep and confusing. It took me months to become familiar enough to be comfortable with it, and I still encounter strange behaviors. One of the most confusing is when issues disappear from a view because you forgot to assign the correct component, keywords or any other field which is being used for filtering.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jira is used company-wide for issue and project tracking. Being a centralized solution, it becomes easier to establish relationships between issues belonging to different projects, when needed.

 ### 43. Good tool for overall task management / hard to track specific asks

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Can include several people to watch or interact at a certain task. Can include files in Jira tickets.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

I find it very hard to file jira tickets that I filed (including those that are closed). I would love to have an easy place to look at all the JIRA tickets that I filed or that I'm tagged into

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Make sure you have a good set of processes in place so JIRA is not just a pain of a tool. Easy to become too much for an organization, when everything needs to go through a JIRA ticket (and some times it shouldn't)

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly using it to file requests to several marketing departments, namely marketing operations, demand generation, social media and creative teams.

 ### 44. Has some advantages, but overall soul-crushingly bad

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Valeri K. | Principal Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Unique readable identifiers for issues based on projects. If you have a project called "TEST" and somebody reports the 123rd issue on that project, the issue will have the id "TEST-123". You can put that id into a URL and get to that issue. You'd be surprised how few other task managers support this neat behavior. Makes it very easy to, say, reference JIRA issues in GitHub commits.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Clunky bloated UI and painful management. Atlassian is very good at selling product, but that means JIRA has everything and the kitchen sink baked into one UI with very little rhyme or reason. I'd imagine their sales team is good at getting people on-board by promising to add special one-off features for each customer.

Managing a JIRA deployment is also a nightmare. Weird limitations around number of users, managing gross legacy SQL databases, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

If you're a programmer, save yourself the trouble and just use GitHub issues. If you're a product manager, Trello is better, as is Asana. Task management is a very crowded space with a lot of interchangeable alternatives, so why take the most expensive one?

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There's very little benefit to using JIRA over GitHub issues, Trello, etc. It's cumbersome to manage and has a bloated UI. The big advantage is if you have someone on your team who's a JIRA power user, but if you're just getting started I wouldn't recommend JIRA.

 ### 45. Complicated

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Furniture | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I liked that this program joined our overseas factories and our office for design projects.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

There were too many different parts of this program that made it seem like more work instead of eliminating problems. Since this was a communication tool for with our overseas vendor I felt that the language was to easy to be interpreted differently .

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Make sure all employees test it out and understand it before purchasing

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We no longer use the program

 ### 46. Has several issues but no quality substitute yet

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohit S. | Senior Software Engineer Technical Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Tracking development stories and creating Kanban boards is great. Can be linked with Crucible and Git.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Slowness. Many times the whole website goes down or has issues with updates.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Documenting and tracking projects and development stories, and defects.

 ### 47. Not the best fit for startups but emulates NASA - built like a rocketship

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Has a lot of configurability - you can define custom workflows and project structures

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Super clunky UI - even with the UI refresh they launched recently. It's almost like it's been built for the project managers and program managers - not so much for the developers or execution team. This UI is not meant for self defined tasks by developers.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Consider using Trello (now owned by the same company). Bring in Jira when your projects need project managers.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Requirement coverage by engineering team, code tracking, issue tracking, task assignment

 ### 48. Good but Not Great

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It provides organization to our organization. Plus, it decreases the amount of emails I receive.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Moving cards and marking a task as complete can be more difficult than it needs to be. To me, Trello has a better, easer to use interface (while I know it's not as complex).

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to be cohesive unit and leaders to stay in the know on everything.

 ### 49. Horrible ux, full feature set

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David L. | Director of Engineering, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Very flexible in accommodating wide range of dev cycle processes

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

extremely steep learning curve and horrible ux, especially in administrative flows. confusing terminologies and site navigation. Somewhat slow.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Should try to avoid, but more often than not you have no choice because no one else comes close to offering the same level of functionalities.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

issue management. coordination between teams

 ### 50. It's Getting Better

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It's the defacto standard for the industry so most people know how to use it.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It's super complicated because it's so customizable.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Evaluate as you grow if the set up you have still works.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project Management and ticket tracking for software development.
