## Jira Reviews
  ### 1. Servicenow consultant

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ritesh T. | ServiceNow Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I like how easy it is to assign a story in Jira without any hassle. You can assign the story to anyone just by searching their name in the assignee field.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Sometimes, due to access issues, I’m not able to assign stories or sprints. I understand this is for security, but it should be more flexible so I can still get the stories assigned when needed.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jira is helping us solve key problems, like assigning stories and keeping track of progress. It also makes it clear which team member is working on which story. The agile board is very useful for moving stories into another queue, and it’s also hassle-free to reopen any story when needed.

  ### 2. Complicated Setup, Glitchy Integration, Unhelpful Support

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Faiz B.

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2026

**What do you like best about Jira?**

The ticketing system was strong when it worked properly.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

There are so many things that need to improve with Jira. The ticketing system didn't always function accurately and had glitches that hurt our business. They started charging us for a subscription we were never using, and when we requested a refund just 2 hours after being charged, they denied it and drag the conversation about it. Their Slack integration is broken and has many syncing issues which they never fix, and it hurt our business. Also, they don't provide agent stats for the ticketing system. The initial setup is complicated.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Jira as a ticketing system on top of Slack for client support, but it often glitches, creating more issues.

  ### 3. A Complete Mess—But the Only Option

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lee W. | engineering manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Jira?**

nothing. it sucks. its just the only option out there

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

everything. its a complete and utter mess

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

purely ticket tracking

  ### 4. As worse as it gets

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ido B. | Senior Software Engineer, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Unfortunately, I find it really difficult to come up with positive things about Jira.
I guess I'd say the benefits of the vast knowledge around the internet when encountering any issue, as well as a lot of (mediocre) features.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

To much!
1. The slowest feedback ever in a management product!
2. Bad search box (even when trying to write a query in SQL format) most of the time could not found what I looked for.
3. Moving tickets as a batch is not supported (WHY?!) so tedious to move each ticket at the time.
4. The UI looks so old and outdated.
5. Integration with other products is not easy.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it as the main Kanban board in my team, creating epics, tasks and bugs.
We have a weekly retro and grooming in which we scan the Jira board and make modifications.

  ### 5. Bloated, needlessly complicated

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark O. | Lead UX Designer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Jira?**

- smart ticket numbers, e.g., linking to tickets from the wiki.
- keyword search, searches the descriptions allowing users to create reports more easily.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

-made for devs, the interface wasn't designed for the design user. IOW, it plainly ignores the needs of the UX design teams workflow. Forcing design teams to abstract familiar and productive workflows to obtuse and unituitive workflows that waste the design teams time.
-image search is limited, necessitating the marketplace in order to access wider search parameters.
-attachment history
-can't see the forest for the trees. The workspace view is highly detailed and narrow. Seeing the broad view of a project is unituitive and too complicated to grasp. This leads to generating duplicate issues and making it time consuming to find issues.
- using the product while working is inefficient. e.g., trying to use jira features while working can be obstuse. E.g., users doing work in graphic design applications that draw most of a systems resources, forces the worker to shut down most unnecessary applications, such as browsers. this forces the user to reopen jira between work sessions. The steps to do this have a high time and productivity cost.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creates a single place where all team members can see the work being done.

  ### 6. Not a fan - too many drop downs of info needed

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dawn D. | Senior Manager, Member Support, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I guess, that there are boards of board - and the tech people understand what needs to get done.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

I HATE that tickets must be in the correct group with the correct labels. I wouldn't say I like that JIRA makes technical folks only see the issues within the confines of the ticket. I would like to be able to write what the issue is, and then it is assigned to where it needs to go automatically.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is used to create technical issues tickets.

  ### 7. Using JIRA is not AGILE

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick G. | Technical Product Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It is an enterprise solution which you cannot ever be blamed for implementing

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

JIRAs use is very restrictive and often at odds with their own internal recommended best practices. It has a very high overhead and is often very slow to use with no dedicated desktop app for the cloud product.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Look at your product workflow and determine if it EXACTLY fits the Jira workflows they have available. If not, JIRA is not customizable to fit your needs and you will have to change to Jira's methods. If so, it may be a great fit.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

JIRA functions for product management and task creation and delegation. That's what it does and it does do that.

  ### 8. Jira is too complex

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I know I can find everything product development is working on or planes to work. So for me, it is the best place to go when I need to find details

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It is a complex system when you manage multiple teams, and I don't know how to add Epic in the existing board because we use workflows and items disappear post submission

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is used to organize the work for all teams in development, UX, and test automation. It is also used throughout the deployment pipeline. It is an enterprise-grade product and provides great benefits when the experts practitioner is driving it

  ### 9. There’s gotta be a better way.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Has good integration with other tools in the Atlassian suite. Also offers cloud based saas solution.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Search is terrible. It's so bad that users have to learn how to write queries in J-sql, which is easy, but unnessary. Doing simple things like seeing all open tickets for a single employee or creating a dashboard of all my employees is frustratingly difficult and documentation is vague. The tool has a lot of features, but nothing about it is intuitive.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ticketing for the developer teams and project management and sprint planning/tracking.

  ### 10. Particular and hard to work with various functions of orgs

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victoria C. | Product manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Dashboards are easy to use, not much setup to get started

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Cannot change the process and can only work with the constraints of preset workflows - does not work for my functional part of organization

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, the software is not usable to my team or I due to the constraints

  ### 11. Jira ignores users

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Jira is adequate at managing issues once you get a grasp of their workflows.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The complete disregard for end users. Just take a look at this support ticket that has hundreds of requests for an option to disable their "smart links" feature: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-72429

This is the most annoying feature in any software I've ever used, hundreds of other users agree, and Jira is just completely ignoring it.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Jira to manage our software projects.

  ### 12. Sales review

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It integrates with slack, which makes it fast + easy to get notified about specific workflows. However, I rarely utilize it

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

I'm not familiar with it's other use cases

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Workflow specific ones

  ### 13. The most frustrating project management software we've used.

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

With our current terrible experience with Jira it's really hard to think about features that we like. Due to how Jira behaves and how often they force changes in the design in a work-distruptive way, we developed a feeling that anything that could land in the "like" bucket either has flaws or works in choppy way (as Jira in general works) or it will be moved/removed/changed soon by the Jira team.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Oh, there are many:
- Disruptive forced changes to the software - Jira is complex software and you have to first set it up, which takes a lot of time, and then learn the setup and the software itself, which also takes time. That alone would be fine IF Jira team would not change what you just set up or learned in a way that you have to change your setup or at least you have to relearn it - to find out that they moved, removed or changed that button that you use each day. And most frustrating part of it is that Jira forces you to move to their changes - you cannot stay to the design and functionality you've spent so much time setting up and learning about.
- Slow, choppy performance - it is very often when you see how the page jumps, freezes which in turn makes you wait until it stops before you can move on with the work. This happens on 2017 Macbook Pro with 3,5 GHz Intel Core i7 and 16GB of RAM. Also there are times where Jira makes my laptop super-hot and spins fans like crazy.
- Very chaotic UI - few examples: editing: some items you edit by clicking on it which brings up inline editor, sometimes you need to click Edit button and you won't ever remember what you edit which way; Features access - for example ticket's "Add flag" function is probably (I couldn't be bothered to find out all possibilities) showing only in one specific view (the board's ticket preview mode) but it's impossible to find in other ticket views - Jira forces you to memorize where you can do something; Sorting of comments - in some places it's ordered in ascending order while in others in descending order.
- Search sometimes is unable to find tickets
- Ignorant approach to users requests - just check their page for feature requests - there are features with thousands upvotes not being implemented or even commented by Jira team for years now.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to keep track of the project progress that could be used across different teams in our company.
We realised that we are very close to take the huge effort to move to some other service which might improve the way we work - it is probably just another one forced design change in Jira away.

  ### 14. Not user friendly at all

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vaclav K. | Product Marketing Manager (Gridly.com), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Kanban boards really help to manage teams. But it takes a ton of time and effort to figure out how to set it up with myriads of obstacles you need to overcome.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Overly complicated, offering actions and steps that you can't actually do (workflows are a nightmare). Moving you from one view to a completely different one without letting you know. UI not well designed. Messy.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Stay away

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing my product team

  ### 15. not user friendly application

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Jira?**

it has much good functionality, but usability makes user spend lots of time understand the application

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Zero Usability
Usability makes user spend lots of time understand the application

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

I am not happy with Jira, it's left to other users to use jira or not

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was using for my office product bug tracking

  ### 16. Confusing Navigation, Everything is a Link

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Not much. I guess the Github integration. But if you're praising a product's integration you're not really praising the product. And this doesn't make up for the main application's garbage usability.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The user interface is messy and confusing. The navigation is nonsensical. Everything is a link to a different page that I don't want to go to. When I want to get into a kanban board I never can, and whenever I just want to get to a backlog of tickets, I can't. There are breadcrumbs which will just refresh the page if you click them, random links everywhere. It's a mess and my productivity as an engineer has dropped substantially since we switched to this product from Wrike.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. It only creates problems. It doesn't solve them.

  ### 17. What even is JIRA?!

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I'm able to log into the site, it functions somewhat as a ticket management site....but other than that, it is literally the devil's spawn in the form of a corporate ticketing portal.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It has so many bugs that even the most core functions sometimes fail: I've created tickets and had them disappear on me in hours, with nobody else interfering with them. I've also had countless back and forth with support just to get ticket fields unblocked when some external dependencies changed and left our team blocked from doing the most basic thing: create a ticket.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Figure out if Trello is enough for your team, it's prettier, easier to use, and doesn't suck.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project tracking and status management.

  ### 18. I don't know why we use Jira

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I like that I am notified if someone updates a Jira I logged or am watching

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

I dislike that it is not user friendly. It is hard to add comments on Jira. It's hard to search for Jiras that you need to watch.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Jira is probably very useful for a large company because you can categorize tickets with a lot of specificity. I think there is better bug tracking software out there.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jira helps track active issues.

  ### 19. Clunky

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claudia S. | Supply Chain Marketing and Sales, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It's a good system of organization. Helps keep subject matter in one central place

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Not intuitive at all. I don't consider it user friendly. Doesn't have functions that most could consider common sense. Functions that would be really useful like being able to search by keywords don't work all the time, only off and on.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Does help keep information in a searchable (sometimes), central location that is easily shared.

  ### 20. Hard to use

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Flexible with its functionality but is hard to use

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Hard to track time, it should be a lot more automated or easy to use

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bug tracking is helpful but edit rights should be better managed

  ### 21. Jira is an excellent bug tracking software...but it's hard to use

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Nothing, my company chose to use this software so I am not using this software

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It is complicated, has far too many features that are hard to navigate, it's expensive so not all our team has access and the formatting sucks

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Don't use it, it is WAY too complicated and not effective

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None, in fact all it has done is overcomplicate bug tracking when PT was perfect

  ### 22. Jira review

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Lets you collectively track issues for the eam

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

UI could be updated, does not look very modern

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking tasks for the team for different projects
Can figure out who is working on what and how much progress has been made

  ### 23. Why not Jira

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

There's nothing. There's nothing good in Jira for a product. It's a tool for team leads at most.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The process of setup, user administration, and task migration from the old system.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Don't get involved in this crap

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing product development teams. There are no solved problems, only new problems. The situation is similar with advantages.

  ### 24. Cluttered

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Managing workflows, visualizing workflows

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The user interface, user experience and speed

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Software development sprints

  ### 25. Jira could do with improvements

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Collaboration capability. The Epic concept, User-defined workflows.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

UI/UX - navigation is not intuitive nor well-coordinated across the whole system. It’s cumbersome and functionalities are tucked in very non-obvious places. The query language can be clunky and buggy.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration over Product Development and bug tracking. Tracking works and the aim of collaboration is achieved.

  ### 26. Way too Complicated for the majority of tasks

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Electronics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Its web-based, no install. you can save favourite filtered lists, create you own forms

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

( of course this may be our implementation )...I find it very complicated, I have no idea where to find things and there are so many labels and tags to use its really difficult to prioritise work

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

don't go over the top, think about the core problem you are trying to solve and do not fall for all the issues that can be resolved that you did not know you had. Keep it simple

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

prioritizing new s/w feature requests and assigning to developers for delivery in sprints

  ### 27. Lots of features but no

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 31, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

JIRA has a large number of features so that you can probably figure out how to get what you need done. It provides flexibility to support a number of project management styles and has many integrations.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

JIRA has taken a kitchen sink approach to features, but seemingly hasn't put much focus on how those features interact with each other or how workflows can actually be used in practice. While JIRA does get the job done, there is a ton of overhead to actually using it -- so much so that many are put off from using it at all due to the time lost to maintaining it. In particular, there was many ways to view the same issues, but not every view exposes all of the necessary features. Exposing features is cumbersome and feels bolted on since they often appear only in certain contexts. The core features aren't always the most useful ones. The entire system is extremely slow, which is frustrating especially when you click into the wrong view and then have to go back and wait for it to load again. From editing individual tickets to editing mass quantities of tickets, it can be done, but everything takes 10 steps instead of 1. Search works, but only with a lot of custom filters, and the UI is atrocious.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Try to find something simpler first -- the interface is clunky, slow, and time-consuming.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use JIRA across our whole company to do project management, sprint planning and work estimation, and bug tracking. JIRA replaced a number of other solutions that individual teams across the company used, making it easier to track work and dependencies and provides a historical record.

  ### 28. Antiquated 1.0 technlogogy in dire need of an overhaul

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

The ability to create several tasks in one sprint with the same fields filled out

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Pretty much everything. The layout and design is very antiquated. There are always browser issues (i.e. different display issues depending on which browser). As someone who has been using this for the last 8 years, there is little development or innovation at all that I have seen here.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Look long and hard as this may be overkill for your needs.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking both technical product development issues as well as overall team tasks.

  ### 29. Not for the organized...

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Can't say there's much I like about this. I guess maybe the option to create your own custom dashboard.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

If you like to stay organized then there are much better project management tools that will do just that. It's not fun to look at. While I can appreciate the minimal design, I think -- given the nature of this product -- that it needs to be more visually appealing.

It's tricky navigating unless you've used it for a while. Even then, it can be confusing trying to find exactly what you're looking for -- especially when project names can be so similar in business.

Also hate the way notifications show up in emails. I know this is a feature you can turn off, but it's important to keep on because people will often forget to tag others who need to see it.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not really solving any business problems with

  ### 30. The Jira defect tracking tool is outdated

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** S. Theodorus M. | QA Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

The ability to watch a ticket so that you receive notifications when the status changes is very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

1) Tickets go directly into edit mode which causes unintentional changes to occur
2) The text formatting features could be more user friendly instead of requiring knowledge of HTML

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

In my experience I have found many alternatives that are far less outdated than Jira

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Jira to help with our defect, story, and test case management. Without it, we would need to obtain another product or tools to provide these functions.

  ### 31. For Agile work management

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Savita p. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Simple and easy to use. Any new person can figure out easily.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Can't create advance swimlanes. Reports are limited.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Use it with other plugins to use portfolio management and its powerful.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

managing team's task visualization

  ### 32. Back up your data. Horrible customer service. You are a number.

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Ease of use. Easy to understand with little to no time to get started.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Horrible company. We had an issue with our company and instead of just backing up our data and suspending our account, like Amazon, Google and other reputable companies do, JIRA's parent company just deleted 12+ months of work. They don't maintain a master backup. Apparently the $600+ per year for basically the same amount of space as a Facebook account wasn't enough money for them to save our data. They just want your money and don't care about you.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Just don't use them unless you like working with companies that don't care about you or your company.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had an issue with an expired credit card. Unlike most companies in the United States, this company is based in Australia and they, apparently, don't care about your data. They just deleted everything. No phone call. No suspension with a backup. Just complete wipe of about a year of work. Use at your own risk. They just want your money and don't care about your business.

Additionally, permissions don't work properly. Sometimes adding and removing users gives some unauthorized users permissions and notifications for content they should not have access to. A BIG deal, especially if you are working with distributed contractors that aren't authorized to see some content.

You are paying for convenience with JIRA. Cheap solutions are just that, cheap. And, again, they don't care about you. Apparently the $600 per year, or around that, that they were making from me was not enough for a quick phone call before deleting my data.

  ### 33. Jira in Large Fortune 500 Environment

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Goods | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Jira can do a number of thing and track projects, but I don't feel that it does any of them best.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Jira is quite scatterbrained in my opinion. It can do a lot of things but none of them very well. it is the epitome of the phrase "Jack of all trades, master of none"

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Have a firm roadmap if you want success

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to track projects with code in Jira to have a cost savings, none realized

  ### 34. Not user friendly, outdated

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Notifying groups easily of updates and comments on projects

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Organization is not intuitive and search tools are extremely lacking

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a large company so Jira helps get everyone on the same page and keeps them updated.

  ### 35. Not user-friendly

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Cosmetics | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

This appears to be a very powerful tool. I find the ability to contact others within the organization helpful. I also like that you can "watch" an issue, or stop watching one.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

This is very clunky, not at all intuitive. You would expect a program like this (designed for IT departments) to be somewhat intuitive, but it really is not.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am successfully able to communicate with one person in one other department regarding shared issues. The rest of it is not useful to my department specifically.

  ### 36. Confusing to use

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It keeps track of what it needs to (projects)

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The overall UI is confusing. For example, when attaching an image, it doesn't always attach to the comment and will instead attach to the whole ticket making it difficult to reference. I also REALLY don't like that being assigned to a ticket doesn't automatically make you watch it. I'm on the ticket, the default should be to watch it, I shouldn't have to remember to go in and click to watch.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management - ticketing system.

  ### 37. Horrible and slow

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Not much. I do like some of the reporting.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Almost everything. It is slow, tedious, and lacks a good UX. Also too narrowly focused on only supporting engineers.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Don’t do it!

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Software development managing and tracking.

  ### 38. Over engineered

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 31, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Ability to tag people and watch issues is nice

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

UX is not great. It’s not intuitive to use and there are too many features - too much rope to hang yourself

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration and documentation

  ### 39. Bloated, complicated, and will slow down your development team

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew H. | Senior Software Engineer, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Jira?**

JIRA is known for being flexible and customizable. You can tweak and configure JIRA to fit any workflow. There are several plugins/add-ons available which may add additional functionality.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

JIRA is an overly complicated system for managing projects. The biggest problem with JIRA will make you feel like you've collected and documented all the information, yet give you a false sense of security. JIRA will get in the way of critical communication between members of your project teams. Your project estimates will be wrong and you will miss deadlines due to lack of clarity among the team. There are so many layers between you and the tasks that need to be done that it does not facilitate communication between the team. You will need to hire someone to manage JIRA full-time because it is not accessible to the average user. If you want your team to be successful, choose a different project management tool.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

If you are managing a software development team, you will be sorry if you choose JIRA. There are other project management tools available which will better support your team, and provide clarity in communication. Regardless of the tools you use, don't forget that in-person communication is critical. Never rely on the information in the system to inform your decisions. Only use that information to support in-person communication.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My role was managing a software development team. I've realized that JIRA will only hinder a successful development team, not support it.

  ### 40. Poor Design and Optics

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Their 'service desk' feature is awesome, but the pricing structure drives you to using Jira Core

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The layout is poorly designed making it very time consuming to navigate.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

If you have no better alternative, this is probably still not better than nothing,

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has only caused problems with using up more bandwidth .

  ### 41. Great for developers, not so much for marketers

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Jira?**

The board system was excellent and it worked for our R&D team but not beyond.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

features for developers only, not for other verticals

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

QA, was great for assigning projects but QA doesn't always know the workflow of R&D

  ### 42. Crappy Interface

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2016

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It seems to work most of the time, despite the fact that it looks like it is from 1997

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It looks like it was created decades ago. Someone with an eye for design needs to give Jira some love

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

Meh

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking tasks for software

  ### 43. Unintuitive - Avoid if possible

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2016

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It has decent pricing for basically any team size. There is a lot of customization in terms of theming.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Very unintuitive to use, as a software developer I can figure out applications pretty easily but there is no hope for JIRA. Page loads are kinda slow but bearable.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

I would recommend Kanbanize or the tasks feature of Teamwork PM

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management for software development.

  ### 44. JIRA is the old way of running a Help Desk--let's start a new way

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2016

**What do you like best about Jira?**

There is nothing positive to be said about JIRA, except maybe that it was a starting point.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

JIRA is a mess. It's barely searchable, it's not user friendly on the entry end, and the interface is outdated and ugly.

**Recommendations to others considering Jira:**

I would recommend those considering JIRA look into another solution, and that they focus on search capabilities and the look and feel of the interface.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use JIRA for our internal and external help desks. The benefit, I suppose, is that we have something for those functions. Hopefully soon it will be something else.

  ### 45. Using it for bug tracking as QA for 1,5 years.

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2015

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Highly customizable bug tracking system.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Not intuitive and difficult to configure. There are a lot of unnecessary configuration details like title of some entity. Why there is a special button for that while there is another button to edit all properties of the entity??

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Do not see to much benefits.
