Jenzabar SONIS solves the problem of having housing and student information spread across different systems or tracked manually. Instead of relying on spreadsheets or paperwork, everything is organized in one place, which makes it easier to find information quickly and keep records accurate. Because of this, our day-to-day work is more efficient. Tasks like managing housing assignments, tracking student information, and handling changes can be done faster and with fewer errors. It also reduces training time for staff since the system is easy to learn. There are too many similar categories of settings that make it hard to find the right setting and some settings require multiple setting changes instead of having them all in one place. Technical Support Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) 4/8/2021 "Sonis is a robust SIS with full campus department integration to handle all your needs in one place." 4.5/5 What do you like best about Jenzabar SONIS? I like how much can be done using the software. It allows you to handle financials, registrar matters, housing, financial aid, it has alumni portals, job postings and employer access. The list could go on. To put it in its simplest form I like Sonis' versatility. It allows us as a small institution to be able to focus on just one software and have everything integrated in a way that easily streamlines processes. Sonis is allowing us to move away from some of our other software and migrate the information to Sonis for greater simplicity and accessibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Jenzabar SONIS? The only downside really that I have with Sonis is regarding its aesthetics. It's not the most visually appealing software and to me, this can be a slight hindrance to user engagement. If it were a more visually appealing software I believe it would be one of the most sought after student information systems around. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Jenzabar SONIS: I would recommend Sonis to any institution. It can legitimately do all you require it to do as an educational institution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Jenzabar SONIS solving and how is that benefiting you? Sonis has allowed us to move away from excel spreadsheets for everything. This institution evolved from a small training college to an accredited institution offering multiple degree programs. The data storage and processes governing our functions needed to improve. Our staff was and still is limited but need to meet the demands of our growing population. Having Sonis be the amazing data house that it is with the ability to pull all kinds of reports for whatever we need is extremely helpful. Though not previously used, we are even coming to see benefits in utilizing Sonis' onboard financial capabilities for our accounting department. Also, we want to set up credit card processing to tap into even more of the features of Sonis. We recognized that there were some other aspects of the institution that were running independently and needed support. So the credit card processing will help us to migrate those functions to Sonis. SONIS is a modern, web-based SIS that makes it very easy for digital natives to pick up and use right out of the box. The financial aid platform can be extremely robust, but it did require a separate license and wasn't an expected add-on. When I worked at the Southwest Virginia Technology Development Center, we looked at SONIS for Student Registration and Data on Students for future classes, and I liked the online aspect of it. It would have allowed us to centralize a registration system for our courses, which were not traditional "college" classes, but more like continuing education and adult learning classes in technology. We only had maybe 50 to 75 classes a year in different areas, and for the price, it was just too costly to afford. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Jenzabar SONIS solving and how is that benefiting you? We ended up looking at a competitor of Jenzabar. Before we could implement it and sign a contract for it, we learned that the Russell County Virginia Board of Supervisors had not extended our contract to run the center. SonisWeb provides a strong, on-line student records database. It has many features that allow us to maintain contact with potential students and monitor their application process. The developers are very responsive to the changing needs of the users and consistently add/modify features to address those needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Jenzabar SONIS? There are so many features to this product but I have not seen good documentation about how the designers anticipated the software would be used. Sometimes we develop a process only to discover that to get the full benefit of the software we should have done certain steps in a different order. As a small technical college we have similar needs to larger two or four year colleges but also have some very unique needs. At the time we made the switch to SonisWeb we found many features of the product that did not work well for us. As more schools similar to ours have become clients, SonisWeb has become much better at meeting those unique needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
