"Poor customer service. Be sure to cancel within 30 days of renewal"

What do you like best?

They have several social identity provider options available. Embeddable widget can be customized to match the branding on multiple sites. Inexpensive. I'm happy they were acquired by Akamai and hope to see them do better.

What do you dislike?

1) Rigid Contract: Customer Success team will not let you out of the contract once the contract is within 30 days of the renewal period. They will threaten collections and termination.

2) Support: It was always difficult to obtain a timely response to get support on the product. We'd have to do the troubleshooting ourselves. There's no way to contact someone.

3) Communication: On one occasion, critical technology updates were not communicated to the customer base which resulted in last minute upgrades on our infrastructure and lost customers and revenue due to the problems using this product. Early on their team, was apologetic and provided free months of service. to make up for the snafu.

Ask about support, severity levels and ways to get phone support during emergencies.

We have been a customer since 2013. We purchased Janrain to solve a developer maintenance issue for multiple social identity providers. In addition, we had hoped to grow and utilize other of their products.

"It is not so easy to use but it is very good"

What do you like best?

Janrain's interface is intuitive and allows you to efficiently manage the company's clients through its different tools. The ability to log in from the user's social network (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.) Allows you to enter the system in a simple and fast way avoiding dislikes in the users.

What do you dislike?

Janrain needs experience in web programming to be able to be used, especially when configuring social networks to the program, for which its greatest virtue becomes a problem if you do not have enough experience.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The software is intuitive however it is necessary to have basic knowledge of programming, outside of this the product is quite efficient to manage customer profiles and access specific data of them.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Janrain was used to efficiently contact customers and allow them to access our content just by pressing a button. In turn, new customers found an easy and quick way to approach our content.

"Great website use"

What do you like best?

It was a very integration into my blog website to manage my followers.

What do you dislike?

Starting up I had a hard time understanding what to do.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It was a great user experience in the end for my followers and customers. I wrote blogs concerning religious matters and used it to fundraise for different projects.

It was a great way to keep their data safe and still be able to have a centralized location for me to access that data for specific campaigns.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Follower management and ability to connect with my followers easily. They could manage their content and their subscription to my site.

"A cloud based access management solution to save you time"

What do you like best?

Janrain has several solutions, but in general the idea is to provide a tool for customer identity management.

The fact that they allow to authenticate from all the major social networks and email services and that allow you as a developer to capture relevant data to perform the authentication is a major plus.

You can allow any new or existing user from your website to authenticate from a social network like Facebook, Twitter, or even GMail is great because how many of us has forgotten a password to a website, but you will always have your email or social network opened.

Not only that but the metrics that it shows are very useful, and those allow you to take decisions.

What do you dislike?

Regarding the customer data feature, the profile data storage you would expect to be more flexible but it isn't. That's one thing that I don't like but it doesn't make it a bad tool after all since it has lot's of benefits.

There's also the fact that the idea is to develop less than having custom apps for each social network, but in the end, for providers like Facebook, Twitter, GMail, you have to create a basic app on their side and know how to pass that data to Janrain, but isn't that much extra work.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You have to have strong skills on scalability, web integration and some knowledge on how to create basic social media apps if you want to integrate with some of those.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have used it a couple of times with large clients that require to allow new or existing users to authenticate in a website with a social network button or with a mail provider button.

You can either have one custom app for each social network or email provider, or have a cloud based solution that supports most of them.

"User registration made easy"

What do you like best?

Janrain brings together lots of functionality that you could build yourself, but they keep up the code for you.

What do you dislike?

The price seems a bit high for what you get.

"Great tool to remove managing peoples logins"

What do you like best?

Great and easy tool to enable your users to log into your site, without you having to mess around with managing an enrolment process.

Really easy and quick to setup.

What do you dislike?

Pricing get steep when you start needing a lot of logins per year, Also some business to business users may not like to use a personal account to login - however Linkedin is available.

Great for ad-hoc communication with your customers. We are trailing using for some partners.

"Register on websites with social media"

What do you like best?

Makes registering for your company website or store very easy. You can use facebook, twitter, google plus, etc... This saves the customer time and the annoyance of registering for your website. Very good concept.

What do you dislike?

Can get expensive
