What do you like best?

The most useful feature we found is scheduling of job(s) based on workflow. In which critical business jobs are scheduled and executes in sequence. Without workflow feature we may have to create no of independent jobs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There's none downside of JAMS scheduler. Though with any software/suite there's always room for new features.

Eg: JAMS web client is not as good as desktop client to create complex jobs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

One word, exceptional scheduling tool.

JAMS support is amazing. There's always someone available to answer your question and if need be for Gotomeeting or webex. You can bet all your money on their tech support team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Some business critical processes are now handled by JAMS. Eg: Moving, copying, ftping files around internal and external servers for printing and then to ship to customers.

We moved hundreds of windows based scheduled job to JAMS and eliminated some manual intervention by integrating jobs in a workflow. That freed up some man hours which can now be used somewhere else. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

All the jobs will be in one place when we finish. And tech support is all important, and you've nailed it. The error I had was very strange, and required SQL Server permissions as well as running the command in the command line to debug. I am confident that if we have this response when it is still in test, I have no qualms about if we have a Production job issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I've found nothing to dislike so far. Your tech support is very responsive and thorough. They don't stop until there is a resolution. And I was skeptical to trust they would help, but the response was really good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Read the tips, but rest assured, tech support will help you with any errors. No matter how odd. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The JAMS automation systems are very intuitive. All our system administrators and developers compliment how well it is to work with the systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The only issue or concern I've had in the past is the slow install and larger-then-normal client installation. Over a gig storage is a bit hefty for a client interface. Hoping future SFTP frameworks are more fortified in the application so we can better transition off of WinSCP setups without so much programming. Other than that, no complaints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Job data file transport is our primary tool along with how well it works with PowerShell customizations. There's almost nothing that can't be created thanks to the File-Trigger and dependency automation features running JAMS 7. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

To have only one tools that can automate my entire process for variety of jobs , the process is visible to all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The lack of some tools that we need to install manually on the server manually, and hopefully they can be added on next version such as PGP , SQL Management tools, more template for cloud and so on Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

JAMS is the best tools that I have ever seen during the last 28 years that I have worked on IT industry. it is the tools that can be used for any type of jobs on different OS, from basic jobs such as file transfer to run job on SQL, and easily to customize your job. It is the tools that you centralize administration and delegate management to other departments to do their jobs, and bring the cost to lower level, enhance security and entire process visible to all, and get best support. What do you like best?

We've had great success with the tool for about 8 years. We've been able to create any type of job or workflow that was needed. We've had some complex workflows with over 100 jobs in it. The database that manages the JAMS data is easy to understand and I often query it. It has great PowerShell APIs when we need to do bulk submissions. The Windows client is easy to use and helpful. The job configuration has a lot of options that we take advantage of (e.g. when most jobs finish, we only send emails on failures, but for a few jobs, we also send emails when the job succeeds.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

In complex workflows, when looking for a specific job, somethings it's bit difficult to find where in the workflow the job is located. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We run about 30,000 jobs a day in JAMS, for various applications, on both Linux and Windows. It is easy to manage these jobs, and to fix and retry failed jobs. We had a recent unplanned outage, and because of how JAMS works, we were able to restart jobs in an organized fashion. With the database available for query, we often can find jobs that would otherwise be tough to find, e.g. which jobs that run on a certain server and run on a certain port for a certain client automatically run before 7:00 AM. What do you like best?

1. The historical view of what jobs ran across all environment.

2. For the SSIS part, before when it was scheduled as a SQL Agent job to run the SSIS, we look in the history of the job only to be redirected to the SSISDB Catalog. Now, with the SSISDirect, we can see the log (as part of the notification), but if too big of a log, we can just go to the JAMS Desktop and see the execution log.

3. The Maintenance window. If all the jobs are already migrated to JAMS, set the maintenance window once, and you can be sure that nothing will run until that is lifted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

It looks like JAMS still has a lot of untapped potential. We haven't really looked at all it can do although we are positive that there's still more. But, what I dislike is, cannot move a job from one folder to another (when we reorganize) without losing the historical execution information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The main problem solved is the part that before, we have to go to several sources/machines/logs to view execution log or historical information. With JAMS, it's just in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

JAMS is a good product. It has all the bells and whistles. The support is outstanding and it is clear that they are very customer focused. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

During a recent supports session (the support was excellent) it became clear that passwords are sometimes stored in cleartext in settings files. That's very problematic. The setup process for connecting to an existing SQL instance is very bad. We made it through it because of the excellent support, but it should be more straightforward. For example, when creating a JAMS database on an existing SQL instance, it asks for the path for the data and log files. While a little more careful reading would have made it clear to us that it wanted that info to create the database on the server - it shouldn't have asked that in the first place. IMO it should have created the database in the default for that SQL instance. That's not something a person installing JAMS should have to know. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are centralizing our SQL jobs and in the future other jobs - a single pane of glass to see all of our enterprise jobs. We look forward to the more complete and concise monitoring and management this offers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Jams provides a number of features that make it very flexible and able to meet a number of our needs. The features that we take advantage of are the multiple job types, scheduling, and extensability. In my organization it is important provide end users flexibility with the technologies that they can use and customize. Jams allows us to meet these requirements and allow our users to use their preferred technology. Additionally, we're able to create customizations that further extend Jams capabilities and give our teams exactly what they need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

While there isn't a whole lot that I dislike about Jams Job Scheduler, there are a couple of pain points we've had to deal with. Deploying customizations to multiple servers can be a bit of a headache, due to the time it takes to get setup for the first time. However, when deployed using an automated process, this is only a temporary discomfort. Additionally, I have had trouble with the online documentation not being up to date with the latest version. Although, that problem was remedied quickly by the Jams staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Jams has excellent documentation and very helpful support staff, so I wouldn't hesitate to dive in and tackle any automation task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The main problem that we solve with Jams are automated scheduling. In our environment we rely on a service oriented architecture, and want a system that is easy to modify how tasks are triggered. Jams provides this additional outer layer enabling us to customize how tasks our carried out in our environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

JAMS simple to use interface and functionality with JDE made it easy to implement and use. The dependencies on jobs and groups of jobs (setups) allows for the most efficient use of system time. Grouping jobs together as a setup allows flexibility to make changes very quickly for entire groups of jobs at one time. The projected schedule gives great visibility. Having windows scripts, FTP, and JDE in one place makes for easier system monitoring. Lastly, alerts give you the exception handling that is required to handle issues when they arise, without it propagating an issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I honestly have no dislikes of this toolset or the people that I have reached out to for help with any questions. JAMS has been one of the BEST solutions that we have put in place. It's positive effect on the Business Applications department has been fabulous. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have decreased the time to perform system activity and improved the ability to react to issues if and when they arise. When a temporary or permanent change in schedule has arisen, the time to accommodate has been small and simple. Condensing system time for batched activities has opened up additional time for other IT system activities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Jobs management with batch queues and Agents Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The windows in which we have to set properties are too small.

The application is not intuitive.

To be able to bulk modify jobs we have created multiple PowerShell scripts - the option should be provided in the application itself.

Failure action cannot set easily. Sometimes we feel that to create a new job, or modify one job the application is good. But, it is not good to migrate jobs in bulk because not all properties from the servers are getting migrated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

We are very new to JAMS. Currently we are just in the process of converting all our scheduled jobs from our legacy scheduler into the JAMS scheduler. This process has gone very seamless making our conversion go smooth and quick. We are easily making our deadline due to the fact that JAMS has everything our current scheduler has and so much more.

The other thing I like best, and it's probably the most important is the support we have gotten. Your support team is on the ball, ready to answer all our questions. It's helpful to have the chat windows when searching for something. If your support team is unable to assist through the chat, they are quick to call or request a webex to review what we are trying to do. So far there hasn't been an issues we haven't been able to resolve in less then a few hours (max!) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

JAMS Job automation provides options of Workflow or Setups and both are very impressive in terms of an automation solution/approach they provide.

However, here at our organization we have considered Job-Setups combination and its very flexible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

1. Numerous options for interfacing and the best which we have seen is the SOAP interface with Flexcube Core banking system which is a seamless process.

2. Various other features available in JAMS such as SOA, FTP and SFTP which are utilized extensively to interface with various layers and modules of Flexcube Core Banking product (FCUBS).

3. Support services which is the primary requirement for any customer is excellent. Adding to this, the support team is technically sound and always solution oriented. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Oracle FLEXCUBE (FCUBS) provides comprehensive functional capabilities across multiple lines of business and banking segments. JAMS automation was considered for the following critical functions in terms of scheduling automation solution and proved to be the best fit.

1. SLA driven Overnight batch processes (End of Day and Beginning of Day) to complete complex tasks such as interest and tax computation, incoming and outgoing payments processing, loans amortization and repayments, hand-off files consumption and generation from/to various external systems and interfaces, etc. All these overnight batches are automated and are scheduled using JAMS setup approach.

2. The calendar and time bound automation of outgoing payments and settlement processing files to the clearing houses.

3. Comprehensive solution across scheduled tasks followed by status/health tasks, which would send notifications/alerts to the Flexcube support team.

Overall, interfacing JAMS with Flexcube Core Banking product has simplified complex tasks and has brought in stability and robustness to our core banking platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ability to use import custom DLLs. Our company has a lot of very specific scheduled tasks, so we found the integration with our own code to be very useful. Also, very knowledgeable Customer Support. JAMS has a lot of different execution methods and different ways to accomplish tasks, so it's hard at first to understand its full power, but Customer Support and the online support knowledge base always has a good answer Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Most of our jobs are file transfers, especially across our corporate domain and SCADA domain. Also, we created a lot of custom jobs that integrate with some of our enterprise applications.

JAMS is a nice place to centralize all these scheduled tasks so that certain users can keep tabs on jobs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

We had a myriad of Windows Scheduled Tasks and SQL Agent Jobs spread about on multiple servers. Just keeping track of what jobs, lived where was a job unto itself. There was also risk associated with these jobs running as the SQL Agent or System account when often that was not the best choice. JAMS delivered as advertised by giving us a single place to create, manage, and monitor all of our scheduled processes!

In many cases we were able to leave the functional code in place (i.e. SSIS packages, custom PowerShell scripts, custom executables.) We simply eliminated the SQL jobs and scheduled tasks and replaced them with entries in JAMS. This approach allowed for a quick conversion with greater control over security and an immediate improvement in our ability to monitor jobs execution. Now we're finding many of our new jobs are more easily implemented directly through JAMS using the numerous templates for things like (s)ftp transfers, database maintenance, emailing daily reports, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

This may be an odd "dislike", but I did find JAMS to be too "all-inclusive" in one regard......

We have a non-prod and prod instance of JAMS. The former is used as our develop and test environment. JAMS provides it's own version control for every job and an interface that makes it easy for an authorized user to copy a job from non-prod to prod as a means of deploying to production.

So what's not to like about all of that?

Once you get used to using the same tools for all of your development, source control, builds, and deployments, it can be a hard habit to break when something like JAMS includes all of that functionality. And while we have tried to make JAMS work using our regular toolset (i.e. Visual Studio, Git, TeamCity, and Octopus Deploy) thus far it has proven more trouble than its worth. Instead we've been working on ways tailor our change control process and continue to use JAMS as designed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
