I've used Jamf for almost 10 years and i've never had an issue with it and it's easy to explain/train if you're wanting to shift left some access. **What do you dislike about Jamf?** Users with Tech knowhow and admin access have figured how to remove the framework off devices (this isn't a common thing but can however be tricky in an event) - There should be more alerting for devices when their framework has been removed/corrupted to keep admins in the know on the device status without having to actively keep checking. **Recommendations to others considering Jamf:** Many new MDMs are popping up out there which makes choosing a new MDM tool much harder now than before, however, I do recommend Jamf Pro, their tool not only is so intensive it's easy to pick up and they have the best training available to make sure you utilise every available part to the best standards, their online documentation and forums are also really handy and the Jamf Pro community (not just employees at Jamf but the customers who use the tool daily) are super helpful and inclusive and always ready to offer a hand. **What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?** More and more businesses are adapting a hybrid working environment, with Jamf I don't have to worry about a users Mac/iPhone/iPad is as I can ensure the correct systems are installed/running and the device is working as it should were it in the office. Being able to push policies/configs without the need of an internal network means a user can literally be halfway across the world and still be connecting to our systems. This allows for global companies to centralise their IT support teams as well. I've been using Jamf for a while now in my career and I haven't come across any other product that can do the same as Jamf can with the included 0 day support. ### 9. At first I was very intimitated about using it but their customer support put me at ease. They helped me set it up to integrate with our iPads located across the nation. It is easy to use and seting up additional iPads for our sites was a breeze. We use it every day to keep track of how our sites are using our iPads. I really like the fact that I can see when someone logs into a device. I love using the blueprints as well. They are easy to set up and then use again and again depending on the device needed for each location, They also have very nice step by step video tutorials to help you through the setup process. I also like attending their online trainings because I learn so much when I do. I highly recommend them. Fantastic product! **What do you dislike about Jamf?** It looks intimidating at first glance but all you need to do is call their customer support and/or follow their step by step video tutorials. Honestly, I can't say I dislike anything about their platform. **What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?** When we first started using them, I'm not sure they had the video tutorials, but that was a while ago. They have really stepped up their ease of use by adding the video tutorials for those of us that need a quick refresher when we go to set up a new device. ### 10. There was an issue i was specifically having with the MacOS that i could not get resolved, i contacted JAMF on a whim to see if they could guide me in the correct direction and they completely helped me through the issue. Now that JAMF has been setup, i only need to login a handful of times a week to get new applications prepared or send out OS updates. This originally was just for MacOS, however, we did have a number of ipads enrolled through another MDM i was looking into migrating over to JAMF. I thought i did not have something correctly implemented, but it was so rediculously easy that I enrolled the device and it was already 90% of what the end users needed on their manufacturiong based ipad setup. I would recommend this each and every time. **What do you dislike about Jamf?** The documentation could be better. The 2 things i've found that aren't a stopper to anything, but more of an annoyance. when sending major OS updates to the next version, you cannot schedule them... i'm not sure if this is a JAMF limitation, or a MAC limitation... but that's hard on the end user. If there was a way to schedule the button click, that would be awesome. the second thing is on the ipads, you can click a checkbox to not show the application in the self service application after installation; MacOS does not have this feature built in which makes the self service kind of messy at times... Other than that, this has been great! **What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?** an extremely easy MDM solution to our once "wild west" style apple implemenation. We had them in another MDM that was terribly slow and unreliable; JAMF completely changed my views on how apple devices can be managed in an enterprise environment. ### 11. Jamf Connect is allowing us to use 2FA-based authentication at login to the devices, as well. Pushing app and OS updates is critical and Jamf Pro makes it pretty easy. At the time, we basically were using a homebrew of custom scripts and using CloneZilla to image. That became impractical overtime and we needed an easier management solution. We did have an AirWatch instance on site, but it proved to be bad for managing Mac computers. Instead, we purchased Jamf and it has made learning and managing Macs a breeze. We also ended up moving most of our iOS devices off of AirWatch and into Jamf Pro. **What do you dislike about Jamf?** Some of the UI is clunky in dark mode. Some new products are a little expensive as additions **Recommendations to others considering Jamf:** Be very mindful on what server OS you decide to install the on-prem server. Also, make sure to choose decently fast storage for the file distribution point. **What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving the issue of poor to nonexistent Mac management. Customer support is very responsive and helpful, and there's a large, active community of Jamf Users. Overall, I think Jamf is the gold standard for mobile device management of Apple products in an enterprise environment. **What do you dislike about Jamf?** The cost of certification is rather high. Currently I managed 11,000+ iPads and 500+ macOS devices. Being cloud hosted as helped us to fix problems on the fly with users who are not on site who are in need of assistance. The wide range of identity providers that Jamf can connect to has helped over the years as the industry moves into cloud identity providers. With new software updates coming out every year for Apple products I don't have to worry about my MDM supporting them as Jamf has always been updated for support. The community that surrounds Jamf is very helpful as well and the Jamf Nation Forums are packed full of great knowledge and helpful information. Staff has enjoyed the use of Jamf Teacher for classroom management locking iPads into certain websites and applications. A lot of vendors that have applications have documents detailing how to install using Jamf as well. **What do you dislike about Jamf?** Some of the new products that come out that could be very useful are additional pay. With the creation of Jamf School some of the really unique classroom features are more robust in Jamf School than in Jamf Pro. **What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were in need of a program that would allow us to manage a 1:1 program without headaches. Once we went through the onboarding process we were happy with how easy it was to manage our devices without extra steps. It is not able to manage security settings as well as I would like, This is more due to Apple's changes than Jamf. A Restart option under management wuld be nice. I do wish there was a way to send policies or scripts to a computer within the Management section while viewng objects. Their new App Installers feature saves me so much time not having to download, re-package, upload, and push out updates... they just do it for me! **What do you dislike about Jamf?** I can't speak to any major dislikes or disruptions to my workflow that I have come across. **What problems is Jamf solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am able to get our users computers pre-enrolled, setup, and configured to meet our institution standards without user interaction and and ready to go once the user receives their computer. If I see an issue with an app, I can deploy an update or rollback to all our users very quickly. Given the senstive nature of data and the broad geographic scope of facility locations, JAMF Pro has been instrumental in being able to manage these iPads quickly and with the appropriate security requirements from various governing bodies. Setting up the server was intuitive enough that even someone without prior experience can get up and running quickly. I use JAMF Pro on a regular basis, and it fits seemlessly in our environment. **What do you dislike about Jamf?** While JAMF Pro has much to like, one downside is that not all functionality can be managed or controlled remotely. I know JAMF continuously updates functionality with each new release, and the company is actively engaged with the user community. If an instructor decides s/he needs a specific app pushed out to classroom iMacs, I can do it all from the convenience of my office and schedule the time/date of the deployment so as to not disrupt the learning process in the classroom. Of the many tools I use in a mixed Apple/Windows environment, I use Jamf Pro several hours throughout each work day. When I arrive at the office, the first thing I do is to check Jamf to evaluate the status of my Apple devices. I can quickly scan my labs and ensure they are ready for the days use by students and faculty. If an end user reports a problem, Jamf Pro provides me with robust tools allowing me to suss out the issue in short order and resolve it in a timely manner. This is deeply appreciated by my end users. Implementing Jamf Pro had its bumps in the road as is expected. However, the built in tools allowed us to onboard our Apple hardware in a planned manner with little to no disruption to our educators and students. Change can be difficult for people to accept, especially in education settings, but Jamf Pro allowed us to replace old methodologies with new and efficient processes that gives our faculty a greater amount of flexibility in the classroom. Jamf provides a plethora of training materials for Mac admins ranging from "newbie" to "highly experienced Mac Gurus". The Jamf community is phenomenal when one has questions or just looking for like-minded people to share information and to support each other. As a neophyte Jamf Admin, the community was essential to me when I had questions or was stumped by an issue. The integration of Jamf Pro into our AD environment was relatively easy thanks to the numerous integration tools and support available to us. Being able to manage all of our devices via AD has helped us to streamline many processes and ensure all users, regardless of the device they are using, have the best experience available. There are dropdown boxes on some screens where you can use the keyboard and search and others that you cant and have to scroll through long lists of items to find the right one. There are Filter options on some pages and not others causing you to have to scroll through them all to locate the right one.
