What do you like best about Jama Connect for Requirements Management?

I've found Jama to be a great platform for managing my project requirements. It has a simple user interface but also allows for a lot of customization for my own company's needs. What do you like best about Jama Connect for Requirements Management?

Automated Trace Matrix Generation is awesome. Prior to Jama, updating the trace matrix required working across 5+ different documents; now it's just a few button presses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jama Connect for Requirements Management?

It's pretty expensive. It took a little while to convince upper management that this was worth it; especially compared to cheaper (free) alternatives.

What do you like best about Jama Connect for Requirements Management?

Ease of use. On the day-to-day use of users and also the 'new' upgrade system is far more easier to do than before. I hope our clients think about moving to cloud based setup and all the hassle of updates would be gone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jama Connect for Requirements Management?

Some of the control is gone. On the other hand I like that I don't have to think everything on setup but on the other, I'd like to know for example are the network ports given in the manual only ones that are needed. I currently run admin on client setup. I like that our uses are finding the product easy to use and mostly intuitive from the start. After we setup rules and can now enforce them, there hasn't been any issue or escalated queries. The tool is very easy to access and being cloud-based, requires no setup.

Jama has very good in-tool editing features.

It has a very stable experience and I experienced almost no bugs.

Jama is not very good at scaling for different types of systems.

The native data reporting tools are also fairly limited.

What do you like best about Jama Connect for Requirements Management?

I like the freedom to store my documentation, requirements, risks, tests, and defects all in the same place. This, combined with Jama's great tools for review and collaboration, make Jama an ideal tool to use for large teams and cross-functional activities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jama Connect for Requirements Management?

There are only two misses that I really feel an impact from in Jama so far. I think the testing tool could really use some bolstering. Maybe look to tools like Quality Center and implement some of the more complex testing tool options. Another smaller piece centers around Change Requests. Jama allows for users to associate scope items with a change request, which is very helpful. But then, after linking, there is no way to query items based on their association with a change request. This makes it difficult to gather scope for a release where the release is composed of multiple change requests worth of scope. I think this could be a very simple, yet elegant, fix. On top of being a great working tool, this product is easy to transition into, and it also gives great APIs if you're ever forced to move to another tool or transition data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Jama Connect for Requirements Management?

- I can easily create traceability between requirements and test cases.

- Review functionality is good.

- Customer service is good. I think I have a very good sales rep. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jama Connect for Requirements Management?

- Cloud version does not have the flexibility to stay at a certain version.

- Jama connect does not have the LDAPS functionality (Replicated has it, but Jama does not). Seems like that is a low priority for them. I am kind of disappointed since it is a security-related functionality.

- When I submit a support ticket, the first tire engineer always asks some template questions. Some of them are already entered at the ticket submission. I feel it is redundant.

- Test Run is not integrated well with test cases.

- Long time ago, I had a sales rep who was just trying to push a new service and kept asking questions about what he was interested in. He was not interested in what I needed. (Luckily, I no longer have him.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

- Cloud Versions / Updates: Cloud-based/Hosted versions of Jama Connect are designed to automatically update to the latest version. However, Self-Hosted/On-Premise versions of Jama Connect can be controlled and manually updated.

- LDAPS: We focus on security authentication via SAML, which is available for both Cloud and On-Premise/Self-Hosted customers. A majority of our customers have enabled SSO and we're available to offer instructions for enabling this on your instance. Please reach out to our Support team with any additional questions!
