LANDESK might just be the solution for your IT management needs **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2017 **What do you like best about Ivanti Endpoint Manager?** My work used LANDESK's discovery and inventory feature probably the most, our network has tons of nodes and keeping up with what is where can be a daunting task. **What do you dislike about Ivanti Endpoint Manager?** Booting a machine in UEFI mode in a network segment with an active PXE representative isn't successful and is a known issue with LANDESK. While a minor annoyance for some, this can really gum up the works for some IT infrastructures. **Recommendations to others considering Ivanti Endpoint Manager:** As I stated in the other section concerning the PXE boot issues, I would take that into consideration and be prepared to work with their customer support. For internet facing networks this shouldn't be a huge thing, but if you're configuring an intranet that doesn't touch the internet, this could be anywhere from annoying to debilitating. **What problems is Ivanti Endpoint Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** Like I said above, with the size of my network having the ability to catalog everything plugged in saved an uncountable amount of man hours from multiple teams. When it comes to managing a users system the less you involve them the better. IT should do most of it's work in the background without user interaction. LanDesk makes this very simple to do. The ease of use when patching, deploying software, running usage reports, etc, etc are all very easy. **What do you dislike about Ivanti Endpoint Manager?** System setup, and some upgrades are quite involved. End point protection has proven to be very effective at both preventing malicious software but also in guiding user behavior. Workstation patching has worked very well and has allowed us to make great gains in security and compliance. We recently installed Xtraction which has proven to be extremely valuable for reporting. **What do you dislike about Ivanti Endpoint Manager?** I have run into several instances where the support provided was not as timely and effective as expected. We have been early to adopt new versions and have discovered several bugs which have impacted our users. Provisioning has provided some challenges although that is probably not unique to our organization and is common regardless of the tool set that is used. **Recommendations to others considering Ivanti Endpoint Manager:** Become familiar with the product prior to training. Get formal training on the product. Include professional services for the installation and setup. **What problems is Ivanti Endpoint Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using LDMS for workstation security, deployment and patching. LDMS has allowed us to quickly patch the majority of workstations in our environment. End point protection has allowed us to protect the users in one particular group (classroom environment) from causing themselves distraction and disruption of service. ### 14. RUN AWAY! It was not for feature gain, more functionality, or better security... it was cheaper. No matter how much less Email+ costs, it is still not worth it. There are soooo many bugs, snags, and "undocumented features" that I rarely bother to boot the thing up anymore. It is VERY slow, and you have to wait for downloads every single time you change email folders. I get dozens of emails per hour, so I spend 5 minutes waiting for downloads every single time. Once downloaded, the messages don't always appear correctly formatted, and at times, don't even display the full text. Trying to schedule something in your calendar or editing a current meeting is the same thing as not having a meeting. I can not stand this product, and I have not met a person in our company yet who said "gee this is a solid product". **Recommendations to others considering Ivanti Endpoint Manager:** Drink heavily to forget the pain it will bring you. **What problems is Ivanti Endpoint Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** I feel the only redeeming use for this electronic manure is that I have created jobs for people in the tech support industry to keep this thing cobbled together and limping along. ### 24. Putting the administrator in the driving seat for the mobile first organisation w.o compromising on any terms of user experience or security. Mobileiron's product forums for customers is a great way of sharing information and ideas on how to make sure that you're company stay's on mobile first highway. **What do you dislike about Ivanti Endpoint Manager?** To dislike something is pretty far from this perspective but I would be glad if a more easy to use "Report Center" would be introduced in the upcoming releases. To setup .xls exports running on specific schema and with specific value's sent to the right people by email securely on the inside of the organisation. **Recommendations to others considering Ivanti Endpoint Manager:** Make sure to implement the Sentry function and buy at least a Gold level license. The Features you think that will be over you're aim today will become tomorrow's standard features for the users. **What problems is Ivanti Endpoint Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** The load of headache have seriously been lowered to a more adequate level by keeping all the devices the way that our policys says. The power to actually making sure that user's follow everything and the possibility to making sure that they follow what we have been saying in the policy. Easy to setup different settings based out of AD membership, device value's or Pre defined value's. Making sure that the end-user's input will be limited to just what's necessary and the letting the plattform do all the hard work. ### 31. We can patch and deploy software for Macintosh and PC computers with one console. We have iPads, Macbook Pros, and Lenovo Laptops that are used on a daily basis. We can push out any software needs to Labs, Carts or individuals with on click. The database's for both the MDM and Manage integrate with Absolute Service (Ticketing System) to give Technicians all information related to the devices when servicing or troubleshooting. **What do you dislike about Ivanti Endpoint Manager?** I have not found much that i do not like with Absolute. We use if for our MDM, Software/Imaging, and Service Requests so this software was a complete fit for us. **Recommendations to others considering Ivanti Endpoint Manager:** This is a true all in one device management platform. Do your research and try this product. **What problems is Ivanti Endpoint Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have taken the old Fat Images and CD Rom to working with Laptops and Desktops to remotely managing and deploying machines once connected to the network. This is not only a time saving benefit but also management wise we do not have to focus on FTE's to do the work. We are a team of 3 technicians for 1400 plus students, 300 employees, and over 4000 devices. ### 32. Everything from simple inventory review to remote software rollout. **What do you dislike about Ivanti Endpoint Manager?** There's not much to dislike about the product overall. Some of the steps outlined in the manual for mobile device management and security certificate setup are vague... but certs are always a pain. **Recommendations to others considering Ivanti Endpoint Manager:** Absolute Manage is a great product, but it was recently divested by Absolute and control of the product has been picked up by another company. So, the support and pricing moving forward is a bit of a mystery. Previous transitions have always been handled smoothly, so I am optimistic, but still cautious. **What problems is Ivanti Endpoint Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have been able to reduce the burden on our lean tech support team. We have saved hours every week with automated rollout of software packages, and deploying new machines is a snap, as we can bundle together installers and settings into a nice and neat package. ### 33. Don't wait for them to get back with you. Also, realize that there will be add on sales. Many technicians don't turn their devices off or long periods of time, not allowing our information to stay up to date. Making that behavioral change proved to be a hassle for our large task force. **What problems is Ivanti Endpoint Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Mobili Iron to prevent technicians from downloading non-compliant applications and to track stolen devices. ### 40.
