I really like how Iris Document Management combines strong usability with strict compliance for the German market, which many document systems struggle to balance well. The OCR and full-text search features are extremely reliable and fast, allowing us to find any invoice, contract, or client document within seconds. We used to waste a lot of time searching through folders and archives, but now that's completely eliminated. The automated workflow engine is another feature I really appreciate, as it automates approval chains for invoices, contracts, and internal documents, preventing files from getting lost or forgotten in someone’s inbox. It’s simple to configure and makes our processes much more consistent. Importantly, the system is GDPR-compliant and audit-ready by design, with built-in access rights, version history, and document retention policies, offering great peace of mind for audits and regulatory requirements in Germany. While Iris Document Management works well for our core document storage and compliance needs, there are a few areas that don’t fully meet our expectations and could be improved. The user interface feels somewhat outdated and not always intuitive. Some functions require multiple clicks, and new employees often need longer to get used to the system compared to modern cloud-based tools. We also find the customization options for workflows and approval processes somewhat limited. It’s not always easy to adapt the system exactly to our internal processes without workarounds, especially when we need more flexible approval chains or individual folder structures. What I dislike about IRIS Document Management is that the user interface can feel a bit dated and less intuitive, especially for new users, which can increase the learning curve. IRIS Document Management solves the problem of document sprawl, poor version control, and compliance risk by providing a centralized, secure system for storing and managing files. It eliminates time wasted searching through emails, shared drives, or paper records, and ensures everyone is working from the most up-to-date version of a document. Built-in audit trails, access controls, and retention policies help meet regulatory and compliance requirements with confidence. By using Iris DM an organisation gets a right hand which manages all its tasks which were done by an administrator previously without taking modern state of the art DM into account. What do you dislike about Iris Document Management? While installing and setting up the DM for the first time it is a little bit lengthy process which could be shortened for user's ease and usage. Also support can be enhanced by integrating AI and live support into it so that user's can troubleshoot server, cloud, on system and others issues easily. Iris DM organizes inefficient cumbersome and disorganised workflows in an organisation where it takes an admin a lot of time to fix and organize such works. I like the template system that allows us to keep our binders organized and uniform.
