What do you like best about IrfanView?

Views many of the less common image file formats on Windows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IrfanView?

It's a bit slow compared to other viewers, and the options menu is more in the way than helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"IrfanView the best light picture editor"
5/5
What do you like best about IrfanView?

The best feature of IrfanView is that the application is light and very easy to use. It allows you to modify your pictures very quickly and easily. Even you can prepare your images in batches for other web application uses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IrfanView?

There is no feature I dislike from IrfanView, but the update process, within the application could be improved. There is a section where you can check on new updates, but instead of providing the file immediately, it sends you to their homepage to select the file and do the same process as the first time. Other than this, the application is very friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IrfanView?

--> I wish there was an option to compare two different images and highlight the changes in the image.

--> Also, it would be nice to have a comprehensive image editor with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best Image Opener Application Ever"
5/5
What do you like best about IrfanView?

It supports nearly all types of image files. The best thing is it can open PSD files that you don't need to have photoshop to display PSD files. While it is doing that, it is free. Best application ever for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IrfanView?

Nothing at all. It is doing a great job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Irfanview is the Easiest Graphic Editing Software for Desktops and Windows 10"
5/5
What do you like best about IrfanView?

The editing tool-bar is actually a 4 inch by 1 inch double column of icons that can be shifted to any corner of the screen and provides simple icon based controls to change the cursor-embedded functions. This makes simple for memory the few standard functions that we need to edit a photo or graphic. Also in Irfanview the function of embedding another pic into the existing pic is absolutely userfriendly and simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IrfanView?

There should be a simple tool in Irfan to mark a corner or two corners of the rectangular work-space - and to single-click the fade-contrast levels accordingly. That means - if the pic is too shadowy on the right side - as in many face-pics - I should be able to click the right side and CLICK to raise the contrast strong on the right margin and lesser and lesser contrast raised till the median line.. there by fetching the dark side of the face on reasonable par with the intentionally bright side of the face. Not to completely equalize but to fade-equalize the brightening through wave-contrast adjustments. But this is not a very big issue as it might be needed once in ten thousand pics to be edited Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about IrfanView?

First, it is completely free. It supports so many file types, but the most important part is it supports PSD format. You don't need a photoshop application anymore to preview your .psd files. Just assign PSD file type and work easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IrfanView?

We have been using it for few years. Didn't see bad effects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Irfan View is simple to use and easy to understand and hence helped me in the designing always."
5/5
What do you like best about IrfanView?

The best part of IrfanView is its simplicity and easy components available.

Irfanview is completely free and available for download from www.irfanview.com. I think it matches up really well to most of the tasks you need to do when getting images ready for the web including:

Taking screenshots

Cropping

Resizing

Very limited image editing

Saving in a file format that doesn’t need a lot of space

Taking Screenshots

1.To take a screenshot in Irfanview, press ‘C’ for Capture or go to Options->Capture. This brings up the screen capture dialog.

2.Most of the initial options are fine, but if you use a dual monitor setup, you may want to have it just capture the active monitor so that the resulting image isn’t so big and unwieldy.

3.Take note of the hot key in the top right of the capture dialog box (Ctrl+F11). That’s the key combination that you have to hit to get Irfanview to capture your screen. By the way, when you have option #2 below selected (Capture area), and you use the Hot key, Irfanview will capture your entire desktop. If you want just your current open window selected, use option #3. Play with the Capture area options to familiarize yourself with the differences in screen capture.
