If you search, there are other free “like” software, but they do not provide the detailed information that IP Scanner provides. **What problems is Spiceworks IP Scanner solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keeping track of all my Static IP addresses and the Mac addresses associated with them. ### 2. Number 2 - it is free. Number 3 - it allows you to save the logs, export them, and review off-line **What do you dislike about Spiceworks IP Scanner?** Not much to dislike--one feature that would be nice to have is the ability to switch to other networks that are in your profile. An example is on my home network, I have a Guest network that would be good to login through the app and check the traffic without having to change my wifi connection. **What problems is Spiceworks IP Scanner solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am able to look for devices that are connecting that shouldn't. The inventory uses background machine level communication to identify manufacturer and device time in most instances. will require more complex and network-level access to see servers and PC in many cases if domain managed **What do you dislike about Spiceworks IP Scanner?** it doesn't manage change will. if you replace a machine or remove and rea add to a different location, it may cause duplicates. Inventory needs to be manually edited and managed. Some items like camera systems need manual identification. **What problems is Spiceworks IP Scanner solving and how is that benefiting you?** it ensures you identify every item on your network and can help if your seeking to update or remove legacy devices and verify OS and devices identification on your network. ### 5. It scans your network and gives you a list of devices. The tool also has the ability to enable additional protocols so that you can even remotely management some devices in some cases. **What do you dislike about Spiceworks IP Scanner?** The initial setup is rather cumbersome. After the product has been set up though, it works great! **What problems is Spiceworks IP Scanner solving and how is that benefiting you?** Network management is extremely easy with the IP Scanner. The Spiceworks tool is a lot better than having to track everything manually. ### 6. It gives us up to date information on installed applications, hard disk space and more. ### 7. It's straight forward and does what it says on the tin. **What do you dislike about Spiceworks IP Scanner?** It doesn't always pick up everything, and I've also had random issues where it won't pick up host names or resolve DNS. **What problems is Spiceworks IP Scanner solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's always a giant pain to come into a new organization and try to figure out what's on the network and where it lives. This tool helps you track things down and put a face to a name. ### 8. We ended up turning the feature off because of it.
