**What do you like best about Inventor?**

Having used Pro-e, Solidworks and Inventor, in my opinion Inventor has the strongest sheet metal modeling package.  The K factor adjustments and flat pattern layouts are excellent.  The drawing portion is easy to use and the assembly package doesn't bloat files too badly.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

In my opinion, Solidworks CAM integration for machining centers is stronger than the Inventor solution.  Perhaps with 3rd party features more integration can be achieved that would put it on par.  At this stage of my career though I am not using machining.

**Recommendations to others considering Inventor:**

Highest recommendations if you're looking for outstanding sheetmetal modelling capabilities. Strong but basic FEA tools are very useful as well.  Its not ANSYS however it will give you high level results with proper inputs.

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using K-Factors rather than laying out DXF files for flattened parts is highly customizable and much faster than what is now outdated methodology.  Currently designing sheet metal enclosures where some of the fast "auto flanges" save me time.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

Really powerful software, surprisingly resource-efficient for use on laptops, and the de facto standard for many uses. With a dedicated CAD rig (or repurposed gaming PC), performance even when dealing with large and complex models is excellent.

The design and portability are really quite good, and when coupled with access to CNC machinery and 3D printing capability makes the prototyping process incredibly quick. Currently experimenting with amateur photogrammetry for metrology and rapid design capability (converting clay models or plastic-printing pens), and the toolset is powerful enough to leverage those capabilities quite well.

Easy enough to use that high school students can tap many of the advanced capabilities with even limited background.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

For myself, as an old school Autodesk user the added capability is impressive, although the UI updates feel a lot like contemporary changes that fixed things which weren't broken in the first place.

The biggest headache I have right now is that the install is tedious to reroute, particularly when repurposing existing computers for STEM outreach projects, anything other than the default installation is hard, and often inconsistent.

Interfacing with open source tools is actually quite good, but innate support for that is unsurprisingly limited. Still, a really minor complaint, as properly packaged for export files are handled really well with existing CAM workflow and automation in slicing tools for experienced additive manufacturers.

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to flexibly work on design projects for work, hobbies, and STEM Education and Outreach work are incredibly nice, and linking this capability to much more accessible maker tech really opens new doors for rapid prototyping.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

Inventor makes 3D modeling very easy and intuitive. It is very easy to learn the basic commands and create a model from scratch. A lot of things are done using the ribbon at the top, which makes it very user friendly. A user can easily pick up the program and start creating 3D models. Another thing is the program does have a lot of other functionality built in, such as calculating a FEA. 

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Larger models become very slow on the PC if you dont have top of the line hardware. But most people are not going to have 1000's of parts. Inventor is also a memory hog, larger models can take 15-20 GB of memory. This can slow down your entire system if you do not have the correct hardware.

**Recommendations to others considering Inventor:**

I would recommend Inventor if you are currently using Autocad to create 3D models. The time required will decrease and the models will look better overall. Also the learning curve for someone who used Autocad will be small.

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to model our product and send the file to our customer. They are then able to put the product into a 3D model of their factory to check for interference and to see how much space there would be. It makes the early design phase very easy, and commuication with the customer a breeze.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

I have been used various CAD modeling programs and inventor has been the easiest to use and integrates well with the other AutoDesk programs. 

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

I'd like to see an update to the naming system for pipes and bolted connections like the one added for frame generator. 

**Recommendations to others considering Inventor:**

Invetor is the best option for 3d CAD design and modeling. It has all the tools you need and integrates well with AutoDesk's other applications. 

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use inventor to solve heavy industrial equipment problems. Most of that consists of quick and accurate modeling of existing parts and creating 2D drawings from them. I can all this work quickly with inventor.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

 I like that it's fairly quick to rebuild parts after changing a feature early on in the tree. I like the view cube in the upper right hand corner, very easy to reorient the view any way I want. The measure tool is very useful and easy to use. I really like how easy it is to start and orient a sketch, super simple and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

1. I can't measure between the edges of sketched circles without putting points there to measure from. Why shouldn't I be able to measure the web thickness or specify that as my measurable value? If that's something that's a CTC on my print, then let me spec it, don't tell me it's not "good engineering".
2. Why can't I split/trim projected geometry? You make me import it as a line, so let me trim it like one.

**Recommendations to others considering Inventor:**

Great program, very intuitive and simple to use, just remember to always save so you don't risk being in a 2D drawing and somehow losing progress.

From the inventor 19, a very useful tool was Nesting, solved great difficulties when it comes to cuts in sheets

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

I have a background in solidworks, so Inventor took some re-wiring to get used to, even though they are similar. But, the best thing about Inventor and that sets it apart from other 3d modeling programs is the ability to store and manipulate different views.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

There are minor changes that would really improve the basic use of inventor; things like adding a reverse direction button option when you are doing a mate constraint like in solidworks would prevent silly situations that are unnecessary. That and setting up projects has really shown to help much.


**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Parametric capacity is great. Like using it through Excel and it functions well. It's own irules runs pretty slowly, but can before basic functions to access Excel well. I am able to change and customize a product very quickly through an excel sheet, which a absolute time saver.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

This tool is one of the best software I've seen to design the parts I need and I do not get them in the market.
INVENTOR is very easy to use and with the help of the tutorials I have been able to learn how to develop this tool.
It has allowed me to review the gears and the accuracies of the encage in a very fast way, I can review the resistance of the materials and design all necessary structures.
Another important aspect is the possibility of making the pieces in modules which in the end I can join them and get a complete product of what I need, how it works and its durability, as long as we load the parameters in a correct way in the program .

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Actually I can not make a negative criticism of the program because it has been very good and the colleagues who have presented it has been very good.
The only thing that you have to keep in mind is that when you perform 3D simulations you must have a computer with enough memories to support the software.

**Recommendations to others considering Inventor:**

We can recommend this work tool because it has been very useful in the projects we have had to carry out to our clients and they have been very satisfied to see the results and to make the parts or components that have been needed.

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As acessors of teams from different companies we have been able to design very simple pieces such as sheets to pieces for heavy machinery and robotics which are important for each of them, and the results have been satisfactory.
We have been able to verify its resistance to be in operation before taking them to their original site and we have been able to determine faults before their creation in physics and correct them.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

The software is very easy to learn and use. It does not take long to be able to use Inventor in it's basic functions. Because there is an abundance of good instructional videos and information via the knowledge base network, even a beginner can be up and running in a very short period of time.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Honestly, not much in my opinion. If I had to pick one thing... I wish it had more tool that related to fluid power, and power transmission. Involute Spline templates, or fluid connectors would be a great addition.

Do It, you will not regret your decision!

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed to produce 3D solid models of castings. Inventor allowed us to do that very quick and effectively. 
Assemblies and having the ability to visualize and verify proper functions of mating parts was the icing on the cake.

I enjoy the simplicity.  I also enjoy all of the various interfaces that Inventor can tie into to make my job easier.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

I'm not sure there is anything I would say that I dislike.  Perhaps creating some time of ability to have one model linked to one part number that can be shown in various states.

**Recommendations to others considering Inventor:**

Download a trial and play around with it.  I find it has a very easy learning curve

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solved the problem of having engineering being the constraint.  We are able to release production drawings in a much faster timeframe.  One of the benefits to using Inventor is the ability to provide our end users with a functional model that they can drop into there assembly to check for fits.

I have used multiple parametric modeling packages before becoming an Inventor user. Once I learned the translation of how features in one package were done in Inventor, I was able to get competent quickly.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Even though new features are highlighted, I can see what the new features are, but not aware if there is also a capability to learn how to use the new feature from the feature menu.

precision modeling from point cloud data which is then translated to perform precision installation of equipment.

the power that inventor has behind it allows us to utilize the most out of our designs.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

its lacking the flexibility to deal with new emerging AI and 3D printing applications that requires us to learn a new program when time is short for us to spend on trying new products. It would also be nice to expand on the mold flow solution to handle liquid metals along with plastics

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

redefining manufacturing techniques to allow is to reduce cost, increase efficiency of the product.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

i like that i can see in real time how my designs are taking form and the posibility of produce the layouts of the objects in any moment, with all the annotations that you deserve ready for the production.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

i dont like that it does not have all the functions for draw of the autocad, sometimes you are looking for a especific command for help in the drawing but you dont find it , in that case you have to look for other commands or continue that step of the drawing in autocad and then go back to the inventor.

on the inventor i make the 3d designing and produce the layouts of the objects.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

The reason i love Inventor is the comprehensive modeling tree that allows you to easily see, modify, and turn off operations and features in your model. This makes adaptive modeling possible and allows for easy rapid changes to parameters.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

I would like to see inventor work more easily with AutoCAD.

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We create 3D models to represent our equipment which can often change from a day to day so i make a single adaptive model that i can change on the fly.

Inventor is easy to use and helps designers to be more productive with tools like content center, frame generator, tube and pipe, etc....

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Inventor does have a tendency to crash or lock up when working for long periods of time or on very large datasets.

Make sure that you get good training upfront and after implementation.  Keep learning no matter how long you've used it

Inventor helps up be more accurate first time.  The time from quote to manufacture is reduced.

I use AutoCAD and Inventor both together.  They work well together I have man older drawing in AutoCAD and it is easy to copy and paste into Inventor when I am updating to solid models.  

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Not always user friendly.  It's capable of doing a lot of great things but they are not always easy to find or or apparent once you find them

Works great very good value for the money.

I am able to build and animate machines to check function before we build.

UI is simple, API is easy to understand.  Easy for new users to learn for the most part

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Delayed updates for known issues. I have two cases currently open with known issues with 2019.4.1 and 4.2 and yet the update is still available. One of them has been open for over 6 weeks and nothing resolved yet.

Easy to use and dont forget to get Vault at the same time.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

I like the ease in which I can create formed parts using Inventor.  It takes the tedious work out of creating formed parts.  No formulas or bend tolerances to look up.  It incorporates what you can do in CAD and makes it more powerful from a design standpoint.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

If you are using Inventor to draw intermediate to advanced FLAT parts, this probably isn't the ideal program to use.

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having the ability to project parts in 3D and simplifying the creation of formed parts have been the greatest benefits I've seen from using Inventor.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

Inventor follows my logic.  I can set up custom variables that I can change with ilogic forms to customize a model.  When I define a dimension, it guides my model.  When I change the dimension, the model changes to match that dimension.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

The only downside I have really seen is that I cannot take an STL file and import it into Inventor 2020 as a solid.  It imports as a mesh and I cannot really modify i.t

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Inventor to quickly design tooling for manufacturing.  It speeds up the process of designing tooling because I can manipulate the model in 3D.  I can assemble models together and make sure everything is going to fit the way I intended.

The features that customers request are often integrated quickly which allows me as a user and CAD Manager to help others become more efficient.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

That the product is locked on the Windows Platform.  I would love to see this expanded to the MAC platform.

Give it a try, you will want to switch!

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

It just does the job. Is easy to customize with VBA programs.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Unexplained crashes. Vault often shows a file needs updating but checking the file out, saving it, then checking it back in still shows it as needing an update. Saving a file sometimes doesn't actually do anything unless you make some minor edit that forces save. Files often request being checked out for updates when nothing was ever changed. This will happen repeatedly on a given file whether updates are performed or not. 

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Re-use of parts with their associated BOM data is #1. Pretty shaded images are great but Inventor lets me push prints and BOM data out to other departments, fast, accurate and reliably.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

Unlike the title says, it is actually very integrated with lots of software add-ins. Has almost the same integrations as the Fusion software but a little more advanced. I like the ability to design then have the add-ins to either nest/cam/3d print my file. Great integration

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Updates are a little slow to come in to fix some of the bugs but when they do fix it does help a lot. The software can still use some functions/features. For example in sheet metal. There is no ability to make a cylinder or a cone. Have to find a different way of making a cylinder in sheet metal which requires a little more thinking because it then needs to be made from a flat pattern

**Recommendations to others considering Inventor:**

Inventor is a very capapble piece of software that has a lot of the same functions from other competitors but at a reasonable price. Great integration to other Autodesk software if you use more than just inventor. Tutorials are also very easy to understand

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily design parts for 3d printing and get the files directly from the software. The only issue and not really an issue is to then slice the files for gcode.

I love the Interface for Inventor and all the tools available. Drawings are so easy to setup and dimension, as well as customize reports.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

I wish there was an easier way to minimize file sizes.

Make sure to have a detail oriented person set up all standards. Stay organized in file structures as to not lose parts.

Frame generator has been a life saver for design changes and being able to easily cope/miter.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

I really like using iParts and iLogic, as well as the graphics. I had a friend from another company come over from Germany where they use SolidEdge and the graphics and user interface are much better with Inventor.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

There are a few things I wish were easier to do in Inventor. I can't think of them exactly right now, but I know there have been times where I realize that I could have done something a lot quicker in another software. You can do most everything, but sometimes it just takes a little bit longer.

**Recommendations to others considering Inventor:**

It may not be as user-friendly as some competitors, but it's more powerful.

**What problems is Inventor solving and how is that benefiting you?**

iParts solve a lot of problems with replacing components within an assembly. Also, the iLogic and parameters allow me to be able to create smart models, which decreases the time required to create custom assemblies.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

Ease of use. the software has an intuitive GUI. The parametric abilities are huge daily feature that we use.

Inventor is the most flexible 3D parametric modeling package out there.  You have the ability to do traditional history based parametric modeling, direct model editing, and free form t-spline modeling all in the same products and can combine them for the ultimate in flexibility.

I would love to see better bi-directional interoperability between Inventor and Revit.  I would also like to see better tools within Inventor for working with LiDAR point cloud data.

I like how many different tools/functions/features there are in Inventor. There are multiple ways of doing any one things, and the user can find the way that fits their flow the best. iLogic is another major benefit / like.

I dislike some of the non-documented work flows. I also dislike the ability work work seamlessly with other programs such as Vault.

Automated engineering. We need to produce more designs in less time. These engineer to order designs take a lot of time. iLogic and the API help us create tools to engineer solutions faster, that are more consistent, and more accurate.

On the drawings side, customization is available for data collection into iproperties to be put into vault and used in other software.

High learning curve for anything to be customized. The features and capabilities are there, but the starter features are pretty limited and are easily out-grown.

Modeling for conversion into 2d drawings.
Modeling for 3d printing prototypes.
It is easy to create models and export for 3d printing prototypes or production parts.
Easy and intuitive to create 2d drawings with annotations.

The ability to model in 3D which aids in concept review and analysis.
HUD is great and the contextual menu works nice. It is easy to move from sketch, to model to drawings, which is a must for design review and sign-off. Each update has simplified the UI which is helpful.

The inability to share among other Autodesk products (Factory Design, Revit, et.)
Revit has a great feature to EQUAL DIM objects, but Inventor does not. urrgghh

Impossibility to open data created in new version directly in older versions. Yes, it`s possible with the AnyCAD but the data are dead (like a STEP file - no metadata).

In General Inventor is great at being able to get the design intent across. Having things drawn in 3D really helps in seeing how all the parts of a design will come together. Inventor has got better at handling large assemblies both on the model side and the documentation (idw) side.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Given below in no particular order.... just a few things that come to mind.
1. Not having a viewer that others can use that does not require a download.
2. Not having a way to create a deployment for the components of the suite I want to install. 
3. The "new" color of the icons in 2020.  Looks like a kid designed it.  Bring back the icon colors pre 2020.
4. Not being able to get an accurate 3D PDF of a weldment when there is machining involved.

Make sure it is right for you. I do a lot of mechanical design and sometimes it is just tough just getting everything roughed out just to know where to start,  For that sometimes I will still use Autocad and do it in 2D just to get going.  3D is great, but if you are trying to get a quick layout sometimes doing it in 2D is faster.

We have started to use the "sheet metal" more in Inventor.  It gives us an accurate way to generate the flat pattern most of the time.

I like how you can hover over items with your mouse and it tells you what the tools do. I really like the keyboard short cuts. I wish there were more for the tools I use.

Sometimes it's slow when opening a big file but computer can't help that. I don't like how to attach balloons to a balloon you have to click multiple times. I wish it was attach balloon and hold shift down to attach multiple balloons.

Play around with the tutorials. Then compete with your friends or coworkers on who makes the most realistic and actual size of an object like a cup or something everyone has.

**What do you like best about Inventor?**

I began to review the inventor program by recommendation, to be able to solve some problems of unique parts to solve problems of parts for machinery and circuits and in a few months I could understand it and work it and get the best out of it.
It has served us to carry out the studies of resistance of materials and has given us a good result since we can see where errors will occur and correct before realizing them in real pieces. We have been testing its software for third-dimensional prints and it is really fascinating to see all that details all over the piece, the program is always surprising you with its updates or the help of the communities that handle it that give good recommendations. And once these pieces have been obtained, the factory is sent for processing.
The use of the program decreases that human factor that gives the probability of error.

**What do you dislike about Inventor?**

Actually I can not realize negative aspects of the program since all I have been able to see is benefits to develop jobs what we could talk about something negative is the cost of the package that could be very high but I consider that its benefit will return to you without problem.

The recommendation that you could give to colleagues who use this program is that inventor is the best thing they can use to carry out all those things you need to take those projects to a high level to be able to verify all those feet before sending them to do them in physical with all That security is well done.

The company has made parts such as gears for robots, robotic arms and work tables. And this software has allowed us to know what the performance of the final piece or the performance of a certain structure will be. It is important for us to know what is the maximum resistance in the pieces made that can withstand the use to which they will be subjected and to be able to establish the limits of breakage.

I like how powerful and easy the software is to use.  The design accelerators help to create designs.  I also use ReCap Pro, Inventor allows me to attach the file to the model and build in a virtual world.

I don't like the instability.  Many times Inventor hangs, or crashes and I lose work.  Save often to avoid losing work.

There isn’t anything that I haven’t liked. It can be a bit overwhelming at times but the more familiar I become with it the more I love it.
