I recently tested Mailchimp for about 3 days to explore how it improved over the years. I used Mailchimp several years ago and moved to another company because at the time, it was too basic for what I needed.
Off the bat, I liked the ability to connect a wide range of tools. And my emails did not end up in the junk/spam folder. That did not change. For those who like email and form templates, they have a huge assortment to choose from. I like there is an app I can download to view performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I was not a fan of the tiered plans. The limitations on their lower-tier plans feel more restrictive than what other companies offer at the same price point. It almost make the plan useless. "Nickel and diming the add-ons", can be expensive. Billing could definitely be less complicated.
For the design option, "create from scratch", I had to manually remove the default customizations, which I thought would have been a blank space. That was a little annoying as I had to manually remove the default customizations.
I wanted to send a one-off campaign highlighting a new digital product offer. I found a template I really liked. I wish the UI/UX was cleaner as I had trouble making changes to the template. I had to figure out how to make basic changes, like the font, etc. It was not as straight-forward as I would have liked.
I also do not like the 'double dip' charge where you are billed for customer segmentation; meaning if a subscriber subscribes to more than one list, you are charged for each list.
Finally, I did not like that they said I could test without a credit card, then on the very next prompt, they asked for my credit card information. That disconnect left a bad taste. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
