The customization is great with the various types of block placements, it's provides a lot of flexibility in terms of the email format. I also really enjoy the MailChimp dashboards which provide email campaign stats at a glance, making it easy to compare campaigns over time. Some of the automation features that are built in, for example the unsubscribe feature, are also very handy in terms of handling lists and staying compliant. Integrations with social media and various other software such as QuickBooks also make Mailchimp a very appealing option, depending on the size of your business and goals. Mailchimp is not a platform that someone can just log into and start using quickly. Email format creation for example, can be quite cumbersome even if you are familiar with the platform. I appreciate how Intuit Mailchimp Email Marketing easily connects my Shopify catalog to emails and has great customer splitting features for personalized messages. The best feature is the customer segments and the ability to tag them on Shopify, which pulls through to Mailchimp and speeds things up drastically. I find the saved templates very useful for quickly creating emails and tweaking them slightly for new purposes.
