Specifically 2024, Lacerte crashes a lot and has a lot of bugs. Everyone in our office has problems with 2024.

-I would like there to be a fillable organizer option. Our clients do not like the e-organizer and want a regular organizer that is fillable.

-For DocuSign, I would love to be able to go back and read the email that is sent with the initial DocuSign.

It’s enormously expensive. The software was built in the 90’s and looks like it. I’ve used Lacerte since 99 and I’m basically married to it at this point but the costs have gotten so out of hand that I’m thinking about moving to another software. This software shouldn’t be more than $10k and I’m spending over $30k. I can’t wait for a good competitor to come along and shake up the industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Lacerte is a robust tax return preparation software. It has been able to handle every client in a quick and efficient manner. It has handled every client from a simple W-2 return to our most complex and intertwined clients with multiple business and entities.

The fact that it auto-calculates as data is entered and changed is a great feature as is the pop-out forms option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Some form entry sections, like 1099-INT, would benefit from entry boxes having numbers to match the forms.

RITA local tax return rejections due to 1099 misc income forms not accepted, not sure if this is a RITA error or Lacerte but I always resolve this error by submitting a paper return. I have commented to Lacerte and RITA but each year this error continues. Lacerte handles complex tax returns with accuracy and speed. The diagnostic tools are strong, it has a powerful calculation engine for advanced tax scenarios, and is able to handle multi-state filings very well. Lacerte is a high cost software with a learning curve, and has add-on fees for features like e-signatures, hosting, and other options. Sometimes, during peak season, there are crashes or slowdowns. There have been some instances where certain forms have not been supported. Additionally, we wished the integration with QuickBooks desktop was more seamless. The ease of use. It's reliable. I like that it helps me fix any errors. I like that it connects to QBO,-implementation obviously, they're both Intuit, but I really like the syncing of it! The limit on the capacity of scans to attach to a tax return is a problem. We are scanning forms such as 1099-B because there are too many pages to input manually. But then Lacerte says a file is too big? If it wasn't a big file we wouldn't be scanning it! Customer support is something that can be improved.
