Useful, but some features need work **Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2020 **What do you like best about Intermapper?** The most helpful feature is the ability to highlight multiple devices at once. **What do you dislike about Intermapper?** The language used to create probes is very difficult to use. Even after using Intermapper for years, I still have difficulty with it, and it's hard to configure it to minimize false positives. **What problems is Intermapper solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use it mainly to monitor UPSs. It's made it easier to keep track of UPS status, but it's still difficult to add MIB files from different vendors to create custom probes. **Official Response from Ashley Raak:** > Thank you for taking the time to review Intermapper. Regards, Ashley from HelpSystems ### 3. delivers but buggy and terrible license schema **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2019 **What do you like best about Intermapper?** Mac based software, easy to use UX to add objects to monitor, etc. Elaborate probes and good alerting functionality. The visuals of maps really help you identify where there are issues on the network, with the colors doing most of the talking. **What do you dislike about Intermapper?** Outdated product, has not been refreshed in years, no smartphone apps, difficult to use web interface, old bugs that the company is taking years to fix or ignores and worse of all, an archaic licensing system that is linked to some unknown HW MAC IDs, which if they change or if you need a new laptop, you have to send an email and wait to get a new license key. No self serve license management or online license check. Really outdated and annoying, especially when you need it most. Also, you have to do your own probes, even for super popular brands. **Recommendations to others considering Intermapper:** Trial it inside out, know that this is a mature product, but because of it, it's also not evolving and being refreshed. **What problems is Intermapper solving and how is that benefiting you?** Monitoring the network and identifying where there are real-time or chronic issues. ### 4. Intermapper for best topology representation of client network **Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2017 **What do you like best about Intermapper?** Alarm indications on node icons and traffic flow between the nodes. **What do you dislike about Intermapper?** When we add the subnet for larger network, the topology builds in such a way that we are unable to design it properly and it consumes more our time in re-arranging it. We have around 35K devices of our client but we dint find the best way to represent all this using intermapper! also it would be great if you can provide us the dashboard kind of templates it will be easy for us to choose the best suits for our client. **What problems is Intermapper solving and how is that benefiting you?** Couple of dashboards to monitor the critical links. **Official Response from Product Marketing:** > Hi, and thank you so much for your helpful review. To allow for more controlled scans, recent releases do give you the ability to just scan a specific IP and bring in devices one subset at a time. We encourage you to try this, as it does make scans faster and easier to control. We don’t have templates in the traditional sense of the word, but if the infrastructure and devices are similar, you can duplicate maps and just update the IP addresses so another client can make use of them. ### 5. Network IT professional who uses intermapper **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Kevin M. | IT Systems Team Lead, Entertainment, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2016 **What do you like best about Intermapper?** The live network views, the map shows these dots and will change colors based on link usage. It is a great way to get a visual overview of you whole network and performance pain points. It uses SNMP which is great and easy to setup. It is also quick to setup and work with - all very WYSIWG editing. It does support servers but feel its biggest strength is networking gear **What do you dislike about Intermapper?** It has an older interface and lacks support for more advancing monitoring like power shell checks. The remote console can be hard to work with so most of the editing to the maps should be done on the server itself which can be hard if you have multiple admins. Also by default it does not have a great historical report or graph. We ended up using another monitoring software to keep track of the server performance and use intermapper mainly for network awareness **Recommendations to others considering Intermapper:** If you have a large network and wish to get a great wall board type map with live instant feedback then this is your product but in terms of a 100% total monitoring package for servers and web apps then this is probably not what you are looking for. The network monitoring that it does do is amazing and worth the price **What problems is Intermapper solving and how is that benefiting you?** Identifying network pain points and servers up time ### 6. Although they are manually configured (realistically), they can be nice and are a much cheaper alternative to things like OpenView etc. **What do you dislike about Intermapper?** The pricing model is almost a deal killer in a large-scale production operations environment. Since you need to pay full-price for every new instance of the software, it makes testing/QA/deployment environments difficult to scale. **Recommendations to others considering Intermapper:** Commit to spending some cash on multiple instances if you need any kind of development environment. **What problems is Intermapper solving and how is that benefiting you?** It does a good job at visualization and we have it up on the SOC front wall. Customers like it a lot. ### 7.
