**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

INSTRUMENTL.com is a tool with incredible programming. The ease in which I find possible funding sources is far better than any tool I've used in the past 25 years of my career. I'm given the ability to invite my team to participate in the tool which is very helpful for communication.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I'm limited to 10 projects at the level of my membership.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time. This tool is like having a mini researcher on my team! Saving time - an incredible commodity for fundraising teams.

  ### 3. Intrumentl is awesome!

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The compactness of the listings - you can see the who, what and how plus financial insights about the funder practically in one place.

Not much. Maybe it would be nice to have more flexibility with the filters.

  ### 5. Rich Resource and Platform for Managing Institutional Funding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucinda J. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Instrumentl works for us beautifully on two levels. First, it identifies opportunities for funding specific projects and our organization as a whole. It has become our primary research engine. Just as importantly, it does a wonderful job of keeping us organized in our institutional funding efforts, tracking by date and project so that we can open the platform and get right to work.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

We have not experienced any downsides so far.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're a small shop, and our capacity for institutional funding research is small. Instrumentl has solved that problem. It's also provided a very easy way for us to keep track of our institutional fundraising deadlines and priorities.

  ### 6. Insturmentl

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

There is nothing I dislike about Instrumentl

I am finding it easier to track grants, the amount of funding we should be expecting and forecasting is easier

  ### 8. Intuitive and Helpful!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Intrumentl has done an incredible job of compiling grant opportunities that align with programs. Its filter tool and robust tagging system allowed me to quickly find matching grant opportunities, many of which I had not previously discovered.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I have been using Instrumentl for over a month, and I have no significant complaints about the service.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

Although the service is costly initially, I do not doubt that it will help organizations discover new funding opportunities. Use the free trial to its full extent and consider the options carefully. It is worth your time to consider the service.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instrumentl has streamlined my grant-seeking process and made me aware of numerous additional opportunities. I specifically appreciate that my selected opportunities are organized by due date, and if a date is unknown it is estimated based on the previous year's submission date.

  ### 9. Organized and straight forward approach to grant searching

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Camille R. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Insrumentl's grant searching platform makes it easy to search for grants by category and keep multiple grant searches organized. I like being able to add team members for collaboration and that all of the information needed to contact the foundation or apply to the grant is at my fingertips. I also like that the grant opportunities are easily organized by application deadlines.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I wish that there was the availability of more than 5 grant searches under the basic membership without having to go up to the next tier. It would also be nice to easily categorize a grant that comes up under one project criteria into another project criteria if I feel that it is a match.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use instrumentl to search for grant opportunities as a grant writer and nonprofit consultant. It makes the search process simple. It is also nice to have the grant management tools to manage deadlines throughout the submission process.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Camille! Thanks so much for your kind words -- we're so thrilled to hear Instrumentl is helping you stay organized and manage deadlines :)

We have recently changed our plans & pricing options, and our new Basic plan comes with 10 projects (grant searches) for $162/month. We do also offer custom plans if an organization needs a different solution!

To re-categorize a grant from one project into another, you can select a different project from the dropdown when saving the grant. You can also change the project selection later, if you want to re-categorize the grant after saving it and evaluating where it is the best match :)

Please reach out to us with any other questions or feedback you may have -- we're here to help!

  ### 10. Instrumentl is a Great Grant Database & Tracking Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kellye B. | D, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I like that I can search for grants and set up a calendar within the software to track submissions. I especially like the automatic notifications of any deadline changes and new grant matches that may impact my annual grant calendar and timely submissions -- this is a huge timesaver!

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

There have been times where I know of a foundation that exists and cannot find it within the Instrumentl database or the deadline doesn't match with what I find on the foundation website. However, I just contact them directly with a suggested change.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving time with tracking grant submissions. The automatic notifications of any deadline changes, new grant matches, and deadline reminders via email are quite helpful. I can also save grants by projects, which helps me locate grant opportunities for different programs. I also do grant writing for other nonprofits outside of my part-time job. Instrumentl is easy to use to separate by clients.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Kellye, thanks for your review! I'm so glad the automatic notifications are saving you time :)

Through our "Quick Find" feature, you can look up any foundation registered with the IRS by name or EIN; then for each foundation you can see all the 990 return info available from the IRS. Sometimes name variations can make it tricky to get the exact foundation you're thinking of, so do keep reaching out if you can't find it right away -- we're always happy to help you find what you're looking for!

Also, please know we take deadlines very seriously, and our team is constantly reviewing grant data for updates & accuracy. As you say -- if you ever see anything that doesn't match, please let us know right away and we'll correct the error, plus do a review of the reasons behind the error & make any necessary improvements :)

Thanks for being a customer and let us know if you have any other questions or feedback!

  ### 11. Grants, Research, Milestones, Tracking, and More .. All In One Place

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tammy Sky G. | Show Trainer & Park Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I like that almost everything I need is in one place. No more digging around. No having to track down websites. No more multiple spreadsheets on my hard drive. No more having to research grants all over the web. All of that and more are right there in Instrumentl. And if I have any questions or think of something I'd like to see added someday, the folks at Instrumentl are very responsive to inquiries and feedback. I give them a Five-Star Rating!

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I can't think of anything that I *dislike* about Instrumentl. There are some things I'd like to see added, but as I said, I just send in my ideas. They are all about making it better for everyone.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm solving organizational and time-management issues, since everything is right there in one place. I have a single go-to place to look things up .. and if I've saved data elsewhere, I just make myself a note in Instrumentl and know where everything is. Also, when writing grants for a disaster relief organization, I was many steps ahead because I had found potential funding sources via Instrumental in the earliest stages of recovery, info that was shared by an "umbrella" organization with numerous relief organizations several months later.

  ### 12. Instrumentl: Essential for Every Nonprofit

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley-Michelle P. | Project Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The best feature is the integrated, comprehensive tracking component which is native to the platform. Instrumentl is truly innovative in how it has created an engine that not only locates available and applicable grants based on the fields of interest for the searching organization, but the ability to manage the details such as inputting a desired submission date. The ability to likewise select a status to reflect the stage a particular grant is at helps for accountability and organization as well. With respect to workflow, Instrumentl offers so many bells and whistles that every nonprofit could benefit from having, and they are able to do so at impressively affordable prices. Especially with how often Instrumentl is able to provide the supplemental 990 forms of the foundations and grantmakers they feature. It feels like giving small, independent nonprofits every opportunity to be informed when pursuing potential grant matches. The customer service is second to none--they do everything just short of applying for the grant on your behalf. I have advocated for Instrumentl to be adopted by every nonprofit I work with, even though it theoretically push me out of a job, precisely because I have seen firsthand the effectiveness of this platform and think nonprofits, especially in this fiscal climate, need every hand up and advantage they can get!

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

The only issue I have encountered with Instrumentl is inaccuracy about submission dates. However, it is stated numerous times across the site that every grant should be followed up on, preferably through the grantmaker's own site, to confirm details. I just wish there could be that additional layer of quality control because I do think that would make Instrumentl in a league of its own as far as the services it provides.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

Always make sure you do your due diligence to verify submission and application dates!

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem in my current role is too much dependence on government dollars. Although our nonprofit is not overtly political, the work that we do is inherently political, and that makes our operation often at the mercy of agendas completely outside of the good work we are trying to do. Instrumentl has allowed me to show my superiors there are opportunities in the status quo to obtain other funding that does not make us collateral damage to whichever interest groups happen to be funding Congress that day. The benefits of having a comprehensive tracking system as well, and such an in-depth ability for us to work together in finding these funding opportunities, have helped prepare us for the current fiscal year with a broader willingness to pursue new avenues of funding. I love my organization, but after 35 years of operation, it is arguably time for us to evolve.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Ashley-Michelle,

Thank you for your kind words, and it's amazing to hear that Instrumentl is helping expand access to funding for your org :)

I wanted to note that we have a team dedicated to reviewing & updating our grant information, and we take deadline accuracy very seriously -- if you find errors, please let us know ASAP and we will correct the error & figure out how it got there (to prevent it from happening again!).

We do also list some deadlines as "Predicted Deadlines" (indicated by a purple banner), meaning the funder has not announced the next cycle's deadline, and we're predicting it based on past data. The funder may still have deadlines or other info from previous cycles listed on their website, which may conflict with our predicted date. We update these predicted deadlines & notify you as soon as funders make announcements :)

Thanks for being such a supporter and we appreciate your comments -- everything helps us improve. Let us know if you have more questions or feedback at any point!

  ### 13. Friendly UI and Excellent Grant Curator

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Garrett C. | Founder and CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I’ve loved the user experience with Instrumentl. As a grant consultant, I use the platform for multiple organizations and have found it incredibly easy to use. Instrumentl helped me get started in just a few minutes, and the software regularly sends me new grants to which my clients are able to apply. It’s simple to review funder’s 990s, background details, and former grantees.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I think Instrumentl’s project management/grant tracking tool could be improved. It feels a little half-baked right now and isn’t nearly as comprehensive as ClickUp, Asana, etc. As much as I’d LOVE to use Instrumentl as my only project management platform, I still find myself “tracking” where I am in the application process on Instrumentl but tracking action items and collaborating with others in one of the other major platforms.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having Instrumentl curate potential grant-maker matches for me and my clients has been huge. While I still regularly review other directories, I’ve already discovered several new foundations through the site.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Garrett,

Thanks so much for your review & for adding your thoughts about how Instrumentl can level up! It's super helpful for us to know that you use ClickUp and Asana & want similar capabilities in Instrumentl.

Our roadmap for the future does focus on improved collaboration & more robust tracking, so we'll keep you posted as we begin to design & develop these features! It would be great hear your ideas in more detail, then, too :)

Once again, thanks for sharing an honest review - we're always striving to make Instrumentl better for you, and your feedback is what guides us!

All the best,
Gauri

  ### 14. The best site I know for grant research

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick K. | Grant Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The focus on specific grant opportunities, and the clear and easy to use information given with every listing.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

You're limited to 10 search parameters at a time, and there isn't a keyword search for funders.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

If you're tired of wading through foundation websites in hopes of finding grant opportunities, Instrumentl is the best tool to get you to the information you need in a lot less time invested to get the clear details you're seeking.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a grant writer with a small but aggressive company, I was always looking for new research tools. After stumbling upon Instrumentl, I've basically stopped looking for other sites. There's no better source for in-depth information about specific funding opportunities, with details about deadlines, how much is available, and the funders' giving history displayed in a clear and easy to use format. The information is for specific opportunities, and not just links to foundations that you have to dig through on your own. Not only is Instrumentl a great time saver, it's a powerful tool that matches your need parameters to viable funding opportunities.

Since I started using Instrumentl, I've converted all my colleagues to making it their go-to source for information as well. Over my 30+ years as a professional, I've never worked with a program like that that gets nothing but love when it's brought up in office banter. That should tell you all you need to know!

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Patrick,

Wow! We are so thrilled that you've found the in-depth info on specific opportunities to be so clear and a timesaver!

I wanted to note that while we have a built in limit for 10 search parameters, you can always reach out to our Customer Success team for guidance or advice on which terms might be best for your searches.... and we can also secretly add more than 10 terms, if you ask :)

Thanks for your kind words & support -- we're happy to have you on board!

  ### 15. Everything I Need to Do My Job

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicollette D. | Development Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The integration of research and tracking into one resource. I can review recommended funders and have them immediately drop into my funding calendar based on their deadline or my choice of when to approach. The ease of moving or copying funders from one month or year to another.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

1) There is no build-in to work with more than one entry per year per funder, and sometimes I apply to the same funder more than once in a calendar year. 2) Report dates are housed in the original grant entry, and do not show up on the tracker in the month in which they are due.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many! 1) Having to copy and paste info from one year to another on excel tracking documents; 2) An instant way to view a snapshot of a funder's interests and immediately choose whether or not they work without doing exhaustive searches myself. 3) Not having to pay outrageous fees to "another" research service that is far more each month (Instrumentl is less than half the cost); 4) The ability to allow my clients live access to our plans and outcomes in funding so that they can pull together quick reports for board meetings, etc. without needing me to do that.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Nic,

Thanks so much for your review and for sharing ways we can improve!

Both of your points are things that are on our minds for future improvements -- having report dates incorporated into the calendar more effectively is an especially high priority issue we're looking to tackle soon! In the meantime, one workaround is to sort your tracker by dates in the "next task" column, which may help a little :)

Thanks again for being a customer & we're glad to help make your job a bit easier!

All the best,
Gauri

  ### 16. Great tool for grant research

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anne O. | Development Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Instrumentl has a really simple but effective user interface. It's really easy to use and has helped me find new grant opportunities for my organization to apply for. For me it is worth it to pay for this even though most CRMs have grant tracking capabilities because it is constantly updated with new deadlines and opportunities as they are found. This functionality will get even better with time and more users.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

It would be nice to have CRM integration

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding grants from foundations and corporations all in one place with succinct information. Also helps you track your progress of applications every step of the way and for any reporting. It will be very helpful with future grant program planning. Even if a grant is not found in their system, you can add (helpful for super small/local grants) and you can send them info to add opportunities as well.

  ### 17. Beautiful Product, Amazing Customer Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Genevieve M. | Database Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The system is streamlined- you can learn how to start using it in under 30 minutes. Creating a simple and attractive report is incredibly simple. The customer support system is first rate- they've gone above and beyond in every interaction. The ability to find new grant opportunities is innovative and constantly being updated.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I hope that in time there is a way to create more complex reports and analytics.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Instrumentl, our team was using 3 systems to track and store information about our grants, because each was missing some essential ability that the other had. We've been able to consolidate our grant information into Instrumentl exclusively, and having a one-stop-shop with a great interface has been wonderful. We've already discovered some potential grants that wouldn't have been on our radar without Instrumentl finding them.

  ### 18. A sure win for organizing and planning grants!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roberta S. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I really appreciate the organization Intrumentl allows me to have and the platform layout. It truly has such a wonderful easability. The layout allows me to see what's coming so I can plan ahead and allows me access to grantees institutional information and tax documents so I can make a thorough decision on whether the requirements and eligibility matches our need. I've not regretted investing in our organization with this tool.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I would like the ability to change the filter settings easier for my searches and have that ability from the calendar screen. This absolutely is NOT a deal breaker, however.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using this program has allowed me to seek out grants and find ones I normally would not have found and did not find using other platforms. It also allows me to manually make notes, label the progress, and mark it as won or lost.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Roberta,

Thanks for your kind review -- I'm so glad you've found some new funders and been able to plan ahead!

You mentioned wanting to edit your search filter settings, so I wanted to point out the "Edit Project" button in the upper-right of each project's calendar view (not on the combined Master Tracker calendar view). If you click that "Edit Project" button you can update your existing search criteria :)

Hope that helps, and please keep sharing your feedback and thoughts with us -- it helps us improve Instrumentl for you!

  ### 19. An Instrumental Tool in Successful Grant Identification

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dawid P. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Finding Grants that matche our organization's nature needs

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

Nothing at all. No frustrations. Maybe list grant Dollar amount available in details and/or in description of the Foundation...if possible.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saves me hours weekly...I do not have to research, identify and review grants. Instrumentl does that for me. We have received several grants from Foundations through Instrumentl.

  ### 20. Invaluable Fundraising Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Instrumentl is very intuitive and easy to use. Creating new search parameters is quick and painless. I have discovered and applied to numerous foundations I had never known about before. My organization has several large on-going projects, and the Master Tracker function helps me stay focused on the big picture.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

Haven't really found anything to dislike.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Like many non-profits, we were submitting proposals for funding to the same pool of foundations. Instrumentl has expanded our list of potential funders, and we are receiving funding from many already.

  ### 21. Massive Time Saver and Super Smart Grant Management Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam M. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Instrumentl makes finding grants for my clients so much easier than I could ever do on my own for much less time and effort. It's like having the key to ensuring I am knocking on the right door; finding the funders most likely to fund the projects my clients are running.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I do wish there was a way to apply for the grants directly within Instrumentl but that's likely not possible given the tens of thousands of funders out there with their varying needs and systems. I wouldn't be surprised if they are working on it though...

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am saving massive amounts of time, mental strain, and frustration by having a long list of potential funders in one clean place. This enables me to more efficiently dive into the grant applications and start WRITING rather than being lost in grant-SEEKING hell.

  ### 22. Makes my work faster - in most situations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michelle M. | Senior Associate Director, Major Gift Officer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I like that it keeps searching for results when I've set the parameters I want. I am a one-person foundation relations shop for a medical school, which is an impossible task (hundreds of faculty and trainees). In some cases, I have found a dozen results for faculty, which is amazing.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

For my purposes, Instrumentl limits the search terms to preset parameters (they provided the given terms) and then limits those terms to 10. In a medical school environment, the broad array of searches I perform is beyond this capacity. Instrumentl is most helpful for public health and community-based research, which is part of what I do. I also have to verify the links, which is fine.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I save some time using Instrumentl. I have also been able to have my staff use it, which helps structure their time.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Michelle,

Thanks for your review! I'm so glad we're able to help you find grants for so many members of the medical school and save you time :)

I know the world of medical grants can be very specific, so we try to structure our parameters in a way that mirrors the most common funder language -- and our funders are categorized with those same parameters. This hopefully means when you select a term, there are actually several funders that match!

Our Customer Success team always loves learning about your projects & giving guidance on the best terms for you ... and if you need more than 10 terms, we can add in extras from our admin side :) Please send us a message at any time if we can help you out here!

Thanks again for your feedback, and for being a customer!

  ### 23. Intrumentl is KEY

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lindsey P. | Director Of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Instrumentl approached our organization in early 2020 and pitched their platform to me. It didn't take long to recognize that it was a valuable tool that was easy to navigate. We've applied for over 100 grants throughout the pandemic and Instrumentl has made it SO EASY to find, categorize, organize, and distribute that grant writing workload. I honestly can't say enough good about it. If you're looking for an intuitive platform that can help your team facilitate the grant-seeking/grant application process, look no further.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

After using this platform regularly for about a year, there is nothing about it that I dislike.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an organization we were trying to facilitate a spreadsheet to track grant applications. It was clunky and confusing trying to do it that way. Instrumentl has taken the guesswork and pain out of the process.

  ### 24. Gamechanger for nonprofit fundraising

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Candice G. | Fundraising and Operations Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

As a development consultant, I am bombarded with solutions that don't live up to their claims. I was highly skeptical of Instrumentl, but reluctantly tried it since one of my clients asked me to take a look. I was immediately hooked! It is an elegant, simple user interface and most importantly it really works to easily surface not only the usual grant opportunities that one would find with other products out there, but it also unearths unique and new opportunities that other products miss. I rarely recommend products to my clients, but this is an exception. Highly recommend.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

No real downsides that I've observed. The team is responsive if ever I have a question or issue.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working with multiple clients, it is easy to organize information and regularly find new funding opportunities for each.

  ### 25. Instrumentl is the best tool available to identify and manage grants all in one place

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christine S. | Grant Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Instrumentl is the most comprehensive tool for researching foundation grant prospects. Their search fields for geography, field of work, and type of grants are incredibly comprehensive and useful. Using the Grant Tracker feature to manage grant calendars saves significant time but updating deadlines automatically and flagging new funding opportunities that meet the project parameters.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

My only complaint about Instrumentl is that you cannot set up a project that is both national and regional in scope, which means creating two separate projects for organizations with both a national and local presence.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am saving significant time by not having to do regular prospecting and can trust that Instrumentl finds relevant opportunities for my nonprofit clients. I also am able to manage multiple projects and grant calendars in one place.

  ### 26. Paid for itself

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cynthia R. | Executive director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I like the fact that it sends me reminders of when grants are due. I also discovered funders that I was not aware of. The service paid for itself in 6 months.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

Some of the terminology is not what is commonly used in the nonprofit world. Grants are "won"; they are "awarded". I'd also like to see more family foundations listed.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

Give it a try to see if it meets your needs. You may be surprised at the ease of use and depth of information.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grant research and writing is time consuming. Anything that makes it easier and quicker is helpful. We uncovered 1 funder that provided substantial support for our new project. We have also received smaller grants that were not in our existing database.

  ### 27. Instrumentl: The One-Stop Grant Research Database & Time Saver!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dr. Bev B. | CEO and Senior Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I love the ability to create a project workspace, select the project's characteristics, enter multiple keywords, and then, sit back and watch the Instrumentl team do all of the sourcing work!

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

During COVID-19, there are a plethora of grants available to small businesses. These types of grant funding opportunities are not listed in the Instrumentl database. I know, for a fact, that small businesses would pay higher subscription fees to access a ready-to-review grant research database to locate 100% of the grants available for economic impact recovery. These grants range from city to county to state to federal to foundation and corporate funding opportunities.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving the problem of how do I reduce time-on-task when I have to conduct grant research for a client's projects.

  ### 28. I have recommended Instrumentl now MANY times!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ELIZABETH A. | Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

It's easy, intuitive, tracks where people are with the grants, gives new grant matching suggestions. It is a great tool!

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I wish you could see the next tasks without going back to click on all the years. I want it integrated into my master tracker. I also wish that I could make the geographic tool more specific -- it pretty continuously gives me grants for counties where I do not work. Easy to cull, just wish they weren't there as an option when I am being as specific as I can.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have recommended this to several nonprofits and I use it myself as a consultant to help streamline my own grants prospecting research. It's fast and my clients really respond to the searches.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hey Elizabeth,

Wow, thank you so much for recommending us to others -- that's the highest praise we can receive :)

Your feedback about having tasks incorporated into the tracker better is a great point, and it's currently on our roadmap as an upcoming improvement! We're looking forward to designing & building the next version of this.

We'll be reaching out to you directly to help with the geography issue on your projects, since you definitely shouldn't be seeing grants specifically & exclusively for counties where you aren't working :)

Thanks again for your review & for pointing out where you think we can improve -- it definitely helps us make Instrumentl better!

Best,
Gauri

  ### 29. Instrumentl provides great grant research

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

In addition to finding new grant opportunities, I love the grant management system that helps me stay on top of deadlines and follow-up reports required.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

The grant opportunities show up in several categories, so I sometimes have duplicates

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me stay organized, and it is a great tool for my supervisor to compile reports for the Board regarding submitted grants and upcoming research on grant opportunties

  ### 30. Instrumentl is a essential in the world of non-profit development.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan W. | Development Coordinator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The most helpful part of Instrumentl is the ease and functionality of each part. A heavy loaded how-to document is not needed in order to get started. Jumping right in to the research makes the program even more time efficient.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

If there is anything to dislike, it is the overwhelming matching funders that I have found leaving me with sadness of having to put some to the side due to time restraints. However, that is of no fault of Instrumentl.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being a Development Team of one, Instrumentl has taken the stress out of research for potential funders. I have realized that the time taken to search out possible funders has valuable time that I now have back.

  ### 31. Wonderful Took for Nonprofits

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allie F. | C, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

It is easy to compile, review and apply for grants! It is so helping having the grants compiled and easy to sort based upon program. I love the status update options for keeping track of my preferred grants.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

There are no downsides to using Instrumentl, I love using it for grants management. Unfortunely we have to use it on a month to month basis, because my board has not committed to the full-year membership.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

I highly recommend Instrumentl for all grants managers looking for a convenient way to organize their grants database. The interface is very user-friendly and makes it easy to search for grants by program type.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Because Instrumentl has so many grants within their database I no longer have to make my yearly treck to the Foundation Center. I have been able to completely eliminate my previous grants lists within Excel. Instrumentl also keeps track of grant updates! So helpful for a grants manager!

  ### 32. Great database for grant professionals!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Margit B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

It's one of the most streamlined and convenient databases I've used in my 20 years as a grant consultant. The ability to easily find funders for any project or organization is streamlined and easy to use. And I especially appreciate the weekly updates I receive in my email inbox alerting me of changes to grant deadlines and even new grant opportunities. The price point is also very reasonable compared to other databases that offer similar services.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

One thing that can be improved is that some entries need updating.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm finding funders for my nonprofit clients and saving time in the process.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Margit,

Thanks so much for your review and we're so glad you're finding Instrumentl streamlined & helpful!

Our grants team works round-the-clock to monitor & update our listings -- if you ever find one that's out of date or needs review, please let us know ASAP! We'll correct the listing right away, and do a review of how the mistake happened (so we can avoid it in the future!). We take accuracy super seriously and are always working to improve where we need to!

Thanks for your review & feedback on this -- we appreciate knowing about any and all issues!

All the best,
Gauri

  ### 33. Great Fundraising Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Performing Arts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Love the grant recommendations and management. The platform is easy to use (in its current state) and the team is very helpful and open to feedback. I love that it gives me access to potential funding opportunities I may have otherwise not known about.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

Lack of team assignments, because I use this with other team members it would be extremely helpful to be able to create a custom view or dashboard for grants for collaborative efforts or to be able to assign team members to certain tasks. I also wish that we would have auto-update of deadlines that have passed but also have further updates. I would also love to have instrumental integrate with my CRM system to help keep everything in one place. I think as a grant platform, I'd love for it to have more accessibility to fully process and work on grants in the platform (ie. have a place where the actual grant application can be seen and worked on in the platform–my team currently uses the platform to find grants, identify the project they are for, and the deadline. We ultimately end up working on each grant in GoogleDocs separately. It would also be able to pre-screen if our organization is truly eligible for a grant. I'd love for this to be a fully functioning platform that facilitates the grant process from prospecting/researching all the way through payment receipt and reporting, where I don't have to go to multiple different places to complete. I'd like to see how it integrates or supports the actual foundations grant portals and extracts and synthesizes the necessary data to complete the work.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

There are definitely growth points for the platform, but even still I would recommend it. The function of being able to access new grants/funding is worth it.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary function is for expanding the breadth of grants that I have access to. By using the platform, I've been able to receive funding from other sources and foundations that I would have never been able to find or access.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi there,

Thanks so much for writing your review -- there are a lot of amazing pieces of feedback in here, and I wanted to touch on a few of them :)

Having deadlines "auto-update" after they've passed is an improvement we'll be introducing in the coming weeks; this is currently in the final stages of development, so stay tuned for updates about when this is released!

For team assignments & collaboration, this is an area we're actively working on improving, and is one of our main priorities for future improvements! Both of your ideas about having a dashboard and task assignments are on our minds, so I'm especially glad to hear they'd be useful for you.

Finally, while things like in-app grant writing & funder portal integrations are a bit further off, they are ultimately part of our vision for Instrumentl as a "one stop shop" for all things grants :) We want to build your dream platform as much as you want to use it, so we're excited for the future!

Thanks again for sharing all of your thoughts - we love hearing ways we can improve & it always inspires us to build a better product!

All the best,
Gauri

  ### 34. Convenient and accurate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The one thing I value most about Instrumentl is that it cut my "grant sleuthing" time down significantly. Setting up a project by using well-defined search criteria is easy and once the project is created, Instrumentl continously searches the web for possible matches. At this point I invest thirty minutes a week reviewing my matches and I am fairly confident that I don't miss any important RFPs. Thanks to Instrumentl I was already able to discover (and win!) a $50,000 grant I would otherwise never have found. Instrumentl is totally worth the investment.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

It would be nice to be able to add a few "free form" search terms to each project but franly this is only a minor issue.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest efficiency I see is that Instrumentl allows me to manage my grant calendar more efficiently and that I no longer spend endless hours searching for grant opportunities.

  ### 35. Great Grant Search Database

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica S. | Grants Writer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Instrumentl is a "one-stop-shop!" They compile all types of grant funding opportunities and include helpful information on funders.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

It would be great if they could add/rank the competitiveness of the grants.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

This is a great tool for finding and securing grant opportunities.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has been amazing for grant research and tracking. We have found funding opportunities and tracked our results.

  ### 36. A valuable, time-saving grant research tool.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Our organization has been using Instrumentl for a year and it has proven to be extremely valuable in our shift to applying to an increased number of grants during the pandemic. We have been able to apply to many grants with much less time spent on researching, which has given us more time to actually applying to them. The layout of the platform is clear and easy to understand and the ability to set up different projects is helpful for team organizational purposes.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

There is nothing I dislike in particular for the purposes our organization has been using it for.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instrumentl has solved our problem of not being able to easily find a large amount of information on grants we are eligible to apply for. It has saved us a large amount of time that would otherwise be spent researching and organizing grant information.

  ### 37. Instrumentl's format is clean & easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cathy H. | Development Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

- Broad database
- Dashboard
- Reports

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

The cost was a bit high when compared to other services.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

Instrumentl greatly simplifies the grant research process! The database is broad and deep in its reach and has produced far more funding possibilities than other databases I've used in the past. I also appreciate the capability to add funding opportunities that are not currently in the database.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplifies yearly grant planning process, presentations to the board, and calendaring. I'll never go back to using Excel again. Much happier with Instrumentl than with other services I've used in the past 10 years.

  ### 38. Helpful for grant calendars and prospecting

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I find Instrumentl to be extremely useful for calendarizing hard grant and reporting deadline, as well as suggesting funding prospects for your programs/projects. It has a clean interface that I find intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I find it's not the ideal platform for tracking cultivation or smaller tasks associated with the grants process. I also feel like there are a few tweaks that could be made to the interface, like adding a "completed" status for grants that you have won and the grant period has now ended for.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a clean, simple way to track all our grant deadlines across programs. Instrumentl has filled this need. We also need to do some prospecting for several newer projects, and while I haven't fully explored all of Instrumentl's prospecting potential, I'm hoping that it will prove valuable for this.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hey there,

Thanks so much for your review; I'm glad to hear that the interface & deadlines calendar have been helpful!

I appreciate hearing that we have room for growth on cultivation/smaller tasks & grant statuses. We'll be improving on tasks & collaboration as an upcoming focus area, so please know that's on our roadmap for the near future :)

I love your suggestion of a "completed" status -- we often hear requests for the ability to add "custom statuses", so we'll be thinking about how these ideas all work together. We're always excited to continue to improve the tracking features!

Hope you enjoy getting deeper into the prospecting side -- and we're here to help if you have any questions or want to see all that it can do!

All the best,
Gauri

  ### 39. Instrumentl has been a great asset to my agency as we have explored a new approach to grants

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The ability to set filters and have the program constantly search for grants that may fit our specific programming.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

It would be nice if you could eliminate a potential grant from multiple programs at the same time if you know it is not going to be a good fit for your agency overall. It can be time-consuming to have to mark the same grant as Not Interested multiple times as it shows up under different programs.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

Definitely worth the investment if you are tasked with seeking new grant opportunities and could benefit from a crawler-style tool to search on your behalf based on parameters that you set.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wading through infinite grant opportunities to focus on the ones that are closest to fitting our needs. Definitely realizing time-saving benefits!

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi there,

Thanks so much for your comments - we're thrilled to hear that we're saving you time & finding relevant grants!

I'm also excited to add that one of our next major improvements will include the ability to mark a grant as "not interested" universally across all your projects -- so you'll only have to view it once if it's an overall bad fit.

We're looking forward to releasing this soon and speeding up your process even more! Stay tuned for updates :)

  ### 40. Great updated web 2.0 research tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel B. | Executive Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The user interface as well as the user experience are very well designed and thought out - Simple and easy to use with minimal training. Great for independent/solo work and also for collaborative work.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

Information can be out of date/inaccurate on occasions - requiring additional research outside of the tool to confirm dates, type of projected funded, etc.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instrumental is expanding the number of opportunities on our radar, which increases the number of organizations and projects we can consider pursuing, and ultimately, if successful, growing the bottom line.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your review! We're happy you've have a good experience learning & using Instrumentl.

Our grants team takes data accuracy super seriously and they are constantly reviewing & updating information. If you ever see anything incorrect, please send us a message ASAP and we will correct the error, plus figure out the root cause and make sure it doesn't happen again :)

We do also include grants with "Predicted Deadlines", when funders haven't announced the next cycle but we expect it to reoccur (based on past data). Sometimes for these grants, the details on Instrumentl reflect information from past cycles, which we provide so you can see an example & plan ahead as much as possible -- of course we update this info & deadlines as soon as funders make updates!

I hope this helps, and please reach out if you have any other questions or concerns about the information we show! We're here to help :)

  ### 41. Instrumentl is very helpful in that it puts the data right in front of you and is quite intuitive.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I most like:
The search features based on keywords
The 990 reports in Snapshot
The overviews of the opportunities
The tracking system (i.e. adding notes, indicated the step you are on)

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I feel like oftentimes I see the same opportunities time and time again.
I also feel like there should be more in kind opportunities and matching support.
I'd like to the 990 snapshots to be available for all funders
The jump in cost of the database was shocking as well, I feel the subscription cost is inflated to a degree.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have solved the challenge in finding viable opportunities quickly.
Instead of having to sort through all kinds of things the information is quickly available and I am able to sort through all of the data in record time.

  ### 42. Instrumentl really makes it easy for nonprofits

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg R. | Grants Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I would say that the user interface is best.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

Honestly, I'm not sure I really "dislike" anything about Instrumentl, and I really mean that. Maybe the user interface could use some tweaks, but that's just for the sake of answering the question.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're simply finding the grants we need to find, and the greatest benefit is that Instrumentl literally does the work for us. To simply decide what areas of grants we're looking for and then Instrumentl does the rest... you can't beat that.

  ### 43. Instrumentl is Great for Grant Research and Tracking!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bria V. | Assistant Director, Annual Giving & Constituent Relations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

It is so user friendly and easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

No dislikes at this point as it does everything I need it to do at this point.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have solved the problem of keeping everything in one place that anyone working on grants can access and update. This is a great benefit so no one is doubling up on work and everyone can see what is going on with each grant request being made.

  ### 44. Great way to keep track of all grants for different clients!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Excellent grant research database. I like that it has a calendar feature as well, and let's you keep track of grants won or lost easily. Basically has everything a freelance grant writer could ever need on a single portal.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I wish I could delete grants that I regret adding to my calendar! But for some reason, once I migrate a grant as "Researching" to the calendar it stays there forever. There's no way to delete a grant from a project, you can only mark it as "abandon." This is a serious problem as I've had interns add grants to my portal that I ended up not wanting to pursue but have no way of deleting it, which confuses me and fills up the calendar with useless grants. I prefer to have a "clean" grant calendar with just the vital grants we're applying to so that I can also show to my clients. WIthout a delete feature, it makes it look too messy.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Biggest benefit is that this is the project management tool I never new I needed! It is perfect for a grant writer.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi there! Thanks so much for your review -- and so happy that we're meeting your needs as a freelance grant writer :)

I wanted to add a tip to help clean up your grants calendar! To remove a grant that you've added, you can open the grant information, scroll down on the right-hand side, and click on the "More Options" button at the bottom. Then select "Remove from Tracker" to delete it.

Hope this helps streamline your process with your interns :) Thanks again for your review & for being a subscriber -- we appreciate your feedback!

  ### 45. Instrumentl is a game changer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

I'm a solo team new to the grant space and Instrumentl really helps to streamline the process of finding grants and staying organized on deadlines and new opportunities. Everything is organized in a really simple interface, and I love the weekly reminder emails to keep me on track and keep me informed on new grants.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I'm not in a position to pay for it every month, but will definitely do so a few times throughout the year.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instrumentl helps to streamline the grant finding process by sifting through the available information based on the targeted search queries it set up. I've discovered grants that I couldn't just find by Googling.

  ### 46. Very good for finding new leads

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Performing Arts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

What I like best is that we can find new leads and can track and organize where I am with any proposal. I also like that I can manage grants that are relevant and not relevant so I'm not bogged down on seeing the same grants over that don't apply to us.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I don't have any dislikes that I can think of as of now

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

I would say out of all the foundation searches I've used, this is the most user friendly and affordable option out there. I would definitely recommend this to friends and colleagues.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I came into my role without have many leads to foundations and corporations to apply for for my NFP. Instrumentl has been so easy because we can give them all the criteria about us and they find us new places to apply to. We've found various leads and place I have applied for for funding. The fact that they also follow and let me know when we have a new match is also very useful. I can track my progress from start to finish so I can stay organized, which is a huge plus.

  ### 47. Terrific asset!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

The weekly update of grants, including finding new grants and reminders of upcoming deadlines. I appreciate the "active" quality of Instrumentl, which provides leads rather than requiring a new search for each project. Especially when there are several projects needing funding happening simultaneously, this is a huge boon.

I haven't taken advantage of the grant management portion of the program, because I have multiple clients and I already have management tools in place, which are shared with a diverse group of shareholders. To use the Instrumentl tracking would be doubling my work in some aspects. But I am sure others would find it useful.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

I have found it difficult to print a list of grants found, etc. I use the service for multiple clients and often would like to print a list of project specific grant possibilities without sharing my Instrument log-in information with them, giving them access to all of my projects. Perhaps there is some way I haven't discovered of accomplishing this, but it doesn't seem to be intuitive in this way.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Instrumentl primarily as an active search engine that is on the job all the time, when I am usually working on actual grant applications. I find it saves a great deal of time, reducing the actual amount of time I spend doing research. I knew from the start that it was a good solid program because many of the grant leads it provided were grants that I had already received. This proved to me that the Instrumentl leads were appropriately targeted to the projects for which I am seeking funding.

Instrumentl is also helpful for clients that are in different parts of the country, where my knowledge of local foundations and corporations is more limited that the ones that are local.

**Official Response from Gauri Manglik:**

> Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to write this review -- we're so thrilled that your research is made faster & easier with Instrumentl :)

To share a list of grants with clients, I'd recommend first "saving" the grants you want to share with them. Then you can use the "Share Report" feature to generate a PDF of the grants you're considering for that project.

The PDF will include basic details and, when opened on a computer, clickable links to Instrumentl's full public grant pages that anyone (even without a log-in) can read. This way you can share grant info with clients without them having access to your own account :)

I hope this is helpful for your collaboration process with clients -- and thanks for your feedback on making this feature more robust or intuitive!

**What do you like best about Instrumentl?**

Creating customizable searches is great.

**What do you dislike about Instrumentl?**

It's a little pricey but so easy to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Instrumentl:**

This is a great tool for a company that doesn't want to pay for a grant search program year round, since you can start and stop the service. The searches are easy to use and the information is easy to access. You could use Instrumentl as your primary tool for organizing your grants program - they offer an opportunity to set target dates, take notes, and record results.

**What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instrumentl lets us start and stop our subscription so we can search for grants that are project specific or relevant to our entire agency whenever we have time to do some searching. Even when we aren't paying for the service, Instrumentl keeps our saved data so we never lose the grants we've found and want to refer to in the future. The information we get about each grant is thorough and accurate.
