Instrumntl has helped me find donors that I hadn't found through other grant search engines. I'm also very fond of the fact that the donor profiles are broken down by giving areas so that I can easily select the state I'm working in and better see what and where the funder likes to support. The interface is user friendly and I have been able to find and secure new money for a few of my clients. I like having the ability to break down searches by program or capital or capacity (etc) and also by genre, even down to specific animals. Instrumentl has been instrumental (hah) in expanding research opportunities for my clients and I. Further, they've been SUPER responsive to letting us create a plan that works best for us, instead of just locking us in for an entire year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Instrumentl? I have had a hard time figuring out how to get to instrumntl's main/general search. When I'm not logged in and viewing as a prospective client I can search by genre. What problems is Instrumentl solving and how is that benefiting you? Through instrumentl I was able to locate a specific donor for a very specific need for one of the nonprofits I write for. This need was specific to hiring staff and needed to come from a funder interested in the environment and wildlife. Through Instrumentl I managed to find the perfect donor, who funded the program and allowed the agency to re-start some incredibly important program activiites. Instrumentl makes the complexity of seeking out and finding well-aligned funding opportunities so easy! The first time I used Instrumentl, I was trying to find potential funders for multiple complex projects/programs for our organization's affiliates in Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, West Virginia, and our hospitals, and under an incredibly intense time crunch. At the time, I was using another well-known search engine but was so stressed out and frustrated realizing that I was looking at a multi-day, possibly multi-week, search and deliver, and would not be able to meet my deadline. I knew there had to be something better, so I found Instrumentl and their 14-day free trial and tried it. WOW!! Through Instrumentl, I was able to accomplish in 6 hours...SIX HOURS...what would have taken days or weeks with the other search engine. I absolutely LOVED Instrumentl so much on that very first try, that I called them and asked if I could be a beta-test customer for their upgrades and any new services. I appreciate the emails when new grant opportunities become available that meet my project criteria. As a grant professional for more than ten years, I have found Instrumentl to be one of the best tools to use for research and grant tracking. I have found Instrumentl helpful in tracking grants through each cycle - researching, planned, in progress, submitted, won, lost, abandoned. I like having the ability to sort the opportunities in a variety of ways and being able to have a running total of number of opportunities and dollar amount. I can quickly view each project and see where I am at vs. my goal, or I can view the master tracker and see everything. Working at a health care system - I have a lot of programs/projects that need funding so Instrumentl helps keep me organized and on top of deadlines. There is also a document library where you can upload proposals, budgets, etc. The free webinars are great for professional development - I am always learning something new and the topics they have presented have been really great.
