"Great idea, but falls short on follow-through"

What do you like best?

Best part is coming up with out of the box solutions, for small companies it is getting the benefit of crowdsourcing without having to set it up yourself.

What do you dislike?

No vetting of people working on your questions. Real expert unwilling to work on the come - get a lot of college kids who think they know it all. From other side, no pay unless you come up with solution, pay is not always related to work involved - lots want the work for free.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

For the price per user, can get expensive real quickly. Just have one point person - that way you just pay for one users

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Getting different perspectives on problems - finding other people's pain points. Cut down on flawed market launches - people pointed out stuff my team missed.

"InnoCentive made open innovation easy for us"

What do you like best?

It's an experienced team, easy platform and process. For organizations that don't have a big innovation team, InnoCentive becomes an easy way to explore Open Innovation in a comfortable and well tested environment. We made a lot of progress in very little time, and were repeat customers every year after we signed up.

What do you dislike?

I can't think of anything that I disliked about the InnoCentive experience.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Talk to them about all the ways they have been involved in Open Innovation. Without revealing any confidential details about any client, you will realize how organizations in other sectors have applied this approach.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

One of the most important benefits was to involve a community of individual solvers in a world where institutions work with other organizations (consultants, for example), and how individuals not affiliated with organizations in a given field can provide a totally different perspective.

"Really great way to find solutions to unique challenges!"

What do you like best?

Whether you have a challenge or are looking to use your skills and creativity, Innocentive offers a unique and effective crowdsourcing platform.

What do you dislike?

The challenges posted can be limited. It seems that it doesn't yet draw a huge user base from either side of the equation.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Explore the current challenges posted on InnoCentive to get an understanding how it is used.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It offers an effective way of paying for solutions if and when solutions are presented, which gives a great financial incentive to the person or people who contribute, while also cutting down on wasted expenses for the inquirer.

"Enzymes and Yeast extracts innovation"

What do you like best?

The definition process on the challenge selections and the thinking that needs to go into this to maximise chances of positive and valuable outcomes.

What do you dislike?

The risk associated with the challenge in a highly specialised and technology area to find experts who can meaningfully contribute to this.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The benefits of both were hard to quantify as the solutions to the challenge provided part of the needs in an important overall innovation projects. As a so-called cog in the wheel they were materially important.

"InnoCentive "

What do you like best?

It is very good if you have problems that you can't solve, the usually respond within 24 hours.

What do you dislike?

Innocentive could add information about the duration of time it takes between having your project proposal accepted and actually receiving payment as well as what documentation is needed to be signed, notarized and sent back to them after your project is accepted.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Fast at responding, but they need to be more detailed

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

New ideas for our company. So far the ideas have helped us expand our company to a more diverse clientele.
