## About Inkscape
Inkscape is a free and open-source vector graphics editor available for GNU/Linux, Windows, and macOS. It is widely used for creating both artistic and technical illustrations, including cartoons, clip art, logos, typography, diagrams, and flowcharts. By utilizing vector graphics, Inkscape ensures sharp printouts and renderings at any resolution, unlike raster graphics that are limited by pixel count. The software employs the standardized Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format as its primary format, which is supported by many other applications, including web browsers. Key Features and Functionality: - Object Creation: Inkscape offers a variety of tools for drawing and shaping objects, such as the Pencil tool for freehand drawing, the Pen tool for creating Bézier curves and straight lines, and the Calligraphy tool for producing filled paths that mimic calligraphic strokes. It also includes shape tools for rectangles, ellipses, stars, polygons, and spirals. - Object Manipulation: Users can perform transformations like moving, scaling, rotating, and skewing objects both interactively and by specifying exact numeric values. Inkscape supports grouping objects, layering, and aligning and distributing objects for precise design control. - Text Support: The software provides a comprehensive text tool that allows for multi-line text, full on-canvas editing, and the ability to flow text along a path or into a shape. Users can adjust font, spacing, kerning, and more. - File Format Compatibility: Inkscape can import and export various file formats, including SVG, AI, EPS, PDF, PS, and PNG, facilitating interoperability with other graphic design tools. - Extensibility: Designed to be extensible, Inkscape allows users to customize its functionality with add-ons, enhancing its capabilities to meet specific needs. Primary Value and User Solutions: Inkscape provides a powerful, free alternative to proprietary vector graphics editors, enabling users to create high-quality illustrations without financial barriers. Its support for the SVG standard ensures compatibility and ease of sharing across different platforms and applications. The software's comprehensive feature set, combined with its user-friendly interface and multi-lingual support, makes it accessible to a broad audience, from beginners to professional designers. **Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I love that it's open source. It's great not to have to pay a premium for this product as I no longer need to use it on a weekly basis like I did before.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

It takes a while to get used to it. I instinctively try to use it in the same way I would Illustrator, but, of course, it's a different product. I wish it were a little more intuitive. For the most part, though, this program is great.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Give yourself some time to get used to it. It's not exactly intuitive, but once you figure it out, it's very easy to use.

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Inkscape allows me to edit/manipulate SVG images easily and at no cost. This is an unbeatable combination. Inkscape's feature set is more extensive and richer than some paid editors.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Quite frankly, I can't think of anything that is a downside of Inkscape.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Give Inkscape a try. I think you will be surprised at the richness of the toolset. Inkscape is very easy to use and gives you high quality, feature-rich SVG images.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most recently, I had to edit/revise some slides in Visio. Unfortunately, Visio does not have the features and tool options that I needed. So I exported the slide to an SVG image, opened it in Inkscape, made the needed edits/revisions with Inkscape's extensive tool set, and then included the SVG image back into Visio. Problem solved!

 ### 8. A tool that I start using when I switch to SVG graphics, Inkscape

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Linda H. | Persoonlijk assistent bij UW assistent Den Haag e.o. , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

For months I have been using Inkscape and I like the app. I like this app because it has the same features as the paid one, even though it is free software. Inkscape is very easy to learn. Many vectors and graphics are one of the simplest things you can do. I also like the functionality of drawing freehand lines. It allows me to draw anything I like. With layers, you can also work easily on complex tasks. We can import files from Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

All the functions I'm looking for come from Inkscape. So I didn't like the things.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

For your daily basic graphic activities, I would recommend Inkscape for professional graphic designers.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For my daily design projects, I use Inkscape. For someone like me, Inkscape is easy to use. I create simple office vector graphics with the program Inkscape.

 ### 9. Trust Inkscape for professional vector graphics design.

It has many tools that makes it possible to be as creative as possible when designing vector graphics.
I can add almost anything I want and anywhere I want in my graphics when using Inkscape.
It is a free and open source vector graphic editor and easily attainable.
It is preferred by many people for vector graphics design.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Using it for the first time can be a challenge especially for the newbies because it is enriched with so many design tools that can easily confuse a new user.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I like to convey a message to the graphic designers that Inkscape as I find it is one of the best vector graphics editor that will help you produce professional graphics (vector) that will help you stand out in the competitive market.
My is say go for it.

I use Inkscape to create and edit vector graphics like for example charts, logos, diagrams.
It produces professional vector graphics that sparks the interests of many.

 ### 10. Open Source Design Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Banice W. | Graphic Designer and Illustrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

The upsides of using Inkscape is that I can do it for free. Being a graphic designer, most of the designs are vector-based which is why I like Inkscape since it is created for the purpose of vector illustrations. I like the layout that makes it very easy to use. I like its support of multiple file formats. I also like that it renders high-quality work for print and web use. Inkscape is also great based on the support features and constant updates that address user grievances. The help tab on the software is actually responsive as opposed to many software which was a huge suprise to me. It is a great software considering the fact that it is free.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Being open-source software, I expected some downsides while using the software. One of the major downsides is the software's inability to work with high-res work that causes it to lag and sometimes crash. It also faces some challenges in keeping up with my design needs.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I would highly recommend Inkscape for beginner graphic designers and illustrators as a platform to enhance their skills since the software offers the key tools that are needed in the creative process.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I primarily utilize Inkscape to create vector graphics. The benefits I have realized when using the software is the ease in creating vectors and the vast export options that allow me to continue working on them on more advanced software.

 ### 11. Vector graphics is not just for the rich

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sarath k. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Inscape helps me design and draw vector graphics that can scale to any size without pixillation, here are the things that I like the most about Inkscape:

Cross platform support: Inscape can run of any OS that has support for a graphical user interface. It runs on Mac, Linux and Windows.

Free to use: This software is free and open source, so there are no licensing fees. So one can use Inkscape without breaking the bank.

Powerful tools: The edit path tool, the spray tool and 3D shape drawing tool are just few of the hundreds of tools offered by Inkscape.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Since Inkscape is a community maintained software it is not as polished as its proprietary counterparts. The app takes a solid 2 minutes to load on a Mac and does not have cloud sync options. The X-Quartz display system needs to be replaced by something more intuitive like Electron, this would make the app even better

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

If you have the budget, please go for Sketch or Adobe Illustrator

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me experiment with vector graphics and build UI prototypes and social media images

 ### 12. Best free vector tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Denise H. | Planejamento, Fiscalizacao de obras e Administrativo, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

This is my most essential apps to work on because I can develop all kinds of projects for my customers. Without a loss of quality, all works can be modified in style, size and any function. In addition to being fully accessible and free, it's an immense supporter to me, and the best feature on Inkscape is undoubted.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Now the leading consumer they're searching for is someone who has earlier worked with Adobe Illustrator or another comparable software, but not something that difficult makes me turn down Inkscape, with the alternatives being somewhat familiar and touched on, careful to do all.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

This tool is suitable for you if you're short of money and don't have a softness that is not user-friendly, like Adobe Illustrator. I can say all the alternatives and characteristics have the same.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape's significant issue is cash expenditure correctly in my company. This software enables us to produce projects for our customers of the same or higher quality that we can at no price in Adobe Illustrator or similar.

 ### 13. Easy to Use Vectors

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris S. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

My favorite thing about Inkscape is how easy to learn the interface is! There is no confusing UI with a million different buttons or features. Yes it is feature packed, but not in a complicated way! Easy to learn, easy to use, easy to perfect. There are so many things you could create in this application, it's mind boggling.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I wish there were more formatting options available when you have completed your vector. This would allow for more flexibility in terms of media placements. I couldn't ask for more tools. Ink scape already offers everything I need to create high-quality graphic designs & vector designs.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

If you are looking for an easy-to-use, easy-to-learn vector design program look no further! Ink scape is stupid easy to use. I am able to use Ink scape for all sorts of things from simple photo editing, all the way to creating custom png files for t-shirts or marketing graphic design. If I were you, I wouldn't even consider spending the hard earned cash on any of the competitor applications. Ink Scape is free and provides a canvas for high-quality graphics that can be used nearly anywhere.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ink scape allows me to easily create vector images and designs within 1 day. I have realized that the ease of the UI allows for quick masterpiece creation! I don't want to pay for competitor applications that renew yearly. Especially when this application is free!

 ### 14. Like Illustrator, but free

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Inkscape is great - it's free, has tons of built-in features and gets the job done.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

UI not quite as good as Adobe Illustrator, and cloud asset does not exist like Adobe's.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I would say to start with Inkscape. If you master it and then still need more, then go with Illustrator. Adobe and many of the other big companies do an amazing job with advertising and convince you that if you just buy their software, your work will look amazing. There is a learning curve with all software like this, and you might just find that Inkscape does the job for you. If not, most of the methods that you use are the same (specific shortcut key combinations may be different).

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to use the Adobe Creative Suite, but now have transitioned to using mostly open source and/or free graphics software, including Inkscape, GIMP, and Davinci Resolve.

 ### 15. Inkscape a good vector graphics editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emilia O. | Marketing, design and marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Inkscape is a great graphics editor and is perfect because it is managed from open source, that is, the use of the software is free.
It is wonderful because it allows you to create and edit graphics, logos, diagrams, cartoons and illustrations and they can be scaled to a larger or smaller size without losing its resolution because it is made with vectors.
It also allows you to import the files in various types of formats such as bmp, jpg, eps, tif and others.
It has multiple tools such as transparencies, fusions and cuts, combined with shapes, lights, shadows and other functions, which make this program obtain the desired projects and with the quality of a professional.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

The great disadvantage that exists when using Inkscape is that it has many limitations in the use of the tools, and then the process becomes longer when preparing the graphics, compared to other vector design programs such as Corel Draw and Illustrator For the visualization of the filters and the effects that the program has, there is no preview and this makes it annoying because you have to try each one until you find the one that works.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I recommend the use of Inkscape because thanks to this tool you can create vector images with pens, pencils and brushes and you can get logos, graphics and illustrations without losing the sharpness when enlarging or reducing the size.
It is also a free software because it is developed with open source, it is cross-platform and it supports several formats when importing documents.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the Inkscape program for the elaboration of my digital graphics projects, with its tools I manage to make graphics, illustrations and even cartoons.
It has a variety of elements that serve to make the lines, shapes and others that allow mergers, cuts and combinations to be made for the elaboration of interesting artistic and graphic creations.
Another benefit of the program is that you do not need to pay to use it because it is an open source program.

 ### 16. My opinion about Inkscape

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Larissa F. | Advocacia, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

The numbers look very lovely and are the only software that you can use freely since you can design pictures/vector numbers, so you will not be able to pixelize images even when you zoom. This is an open-source product that has free use. It implies a lot for testing and graphics software all users worldwide — a straightforward interface with excellent functional control (simple to use).

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

It has specific difficulties, like free software. The worst thing is that the Pantone palette is not available, so there may be compatibility difficulties. The program is not that easy to use and has a steep learning curve for me. To accomplish what I had to do, I often had to seek tutorials.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

For individuals unwilling to shell big quantities of funding for professional editing software, it offers an simple solution, but they occasionally need to manipulate Photoshop files.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For some laser cutting projects, I've used Inkscape. It is great to create quick vectors, and my laptop doesn't consume too much energy. It is excellent for much, like text models, logos and other works. The program is free for those who do not want to purchase high-end or costly products to build. This is a significant benefit for them.

 ### 17. Inkscape

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sergio c. | Técnico comercial, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I mainly use Inkscape to convert slogans and easy designs into vector images that I can use to sell on-demand print products such as Redbubble and TeePublic. The method is easy and fast, and in this software, there's just enough "oomph" to allow me to do precisely what I want to do, plus a bit more. I can readily go back and alter the colours from dark to light with a transparent background to work on distinct coloured products after developing my design (mostly text-based in my case). For me, it's been a game-changer, and I'm happy it was free!

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I can't take colourful pictures and turn them into vectors, but hey, it's free, and I can create natural vectors for which I've got it. I don't have to complain.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

If you can't figure out how to do what you need, there are plenty of internet tutorials. That's great for a free program.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can create vectors from natural, one-colour models and text that allow me to make cash on websites such as Redbubble and TeePublic.

 ### 18. Inkscape- review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pedro S. | Assistente Técnico de Obras , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I can generate and make modifications to SVG files from any picture, scratch or import one. With my Cricut Explore Air 2 engine, I enjoy using it. I can also save the data in the format I need for my Cricut or other programs to use. I can also use it to create FaceBook banners and cover pages. That there is a good selection of tools for drawing and editing graphics objects.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Not so user-friendly, in other programs I can't do anything I can. That some of the instruments are on each side of the screen and no quick guide is available. That side palettes collapse is a little small and that the palette of floating tools can not be reconfigured. That the 3D Boxes tool looks a bit gimmicky and no PMS colour support is available.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

With a little patience and exercise, easy to use. Has many popular features such as CorelDRAW and Illustrator Adobe.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this to assist me in creating files that individuals sent me into SVG documents to develop pictures for them on my Cricut. I've also used it to create my FaceBook account cover page.

 ### 19. Inkscape is capable of things you wouldn't expect from free software.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phillip S. | Director of Digital Media, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I love the accuracy of bitmap tracing. I use Inkscape primarily for tracing small graphics to turn them into vectors that I later edit Adobe Photoshop. The auto tracing ability of Inkscape is easy to use, and the settings are easy to tweak to get good results. Much easier than trying it in the expensive Adobe Illustrator.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

The user interface is cheap and very 90's looking. Obviously that's not a deal breaker for me. I use it for the functionality. But it does remind you of Windows 3.1 Microsoft Paint. But hiding behind that ugly user interface is a powerful piece of software.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

If your primary need is taking graphical elements and creating vectors that can be scaled to fit your needs, look no further than Inkscape. Don't let the $0 price tag scare you off! You have nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape has allowed me to take small graphical elements and vectorize them for use in large print projects, as well as t-shirt designs. As long as the original graphic has enough contrast to help Inkscape detect the lines, it will do a great job. Of course it works best at making black vector PNG files which I later hand color in Adobe Photoshop.

 ### 20. Create and modify images on Linux or Windows for free.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenneth K. | PC software developer and programmer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

This is what I like about Inkscape:
1 - I like it because it's free and SVP vector format.
2 - The SVG complies with XML and CSS2.
3 - The features I use the most are: shapes, strokes, texts, markers, gradients and transformations.
Compatible with JPEG, PNG and TIFF.
4 - This program is very complete, I can also work together with GIMP, the tools have everything necessary to work as if it were a private program.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

This program slows down my PC, I would like code optimization to work well on my system with larger projects.
More documentation about this program is needed, there are many tools that I don't know about its function.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Download this program for your PC, it is perfect and adapts to all needs with many tools, you can start good projects.
At first it is difficult to understand all the tools, once you understand them you can create everything you need.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With this program I elaborate projects in my home or work for free, for advertising my products online, saving money in private license of other programs.

 ### 21. a simple, light, free, and Open Source alternative to licensed softwares

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abdelatif B. | Développeur web, product builder, architecte technique, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I appreciate its ease of use and its lightness, which make its execution fast. I also like its simple and clean design. The fact that it is free and licensed under the GNU GPL is a huge advantage over the giants of the market and their prohibitive prices. Having basic needs in graphic design, Inkscape suits me perfectly. The number of tutorials and free resources on the use of the software should also be taken into account, as its large, self-help open source community is an important benefit. For example if you want to learn how to draw some cool stuff like flat icons or comics characters you can follow some free tutorials videos on youtube guiding you steps by steps to help you drawing the artwork of your dreams. you can also use the Inkscape official learning guide for beginners and experts which is full of free ressources

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

The software is a bit difficult to manage at first. but once accustomed, it becomes a very powerful creative tool. We would also like new features to appear more often. Indeed it is sometimes late compared to its competitors, and frequent updates are there to solve bugs and security problems but rarely to bring new features.
we would also like a slightly more beautiful interface. this program being open source, it is possible that its look is slightly outdated. that does not ruin its comfort of use and its ergonomics, but it would make it so much more cool. Positive point: thanks to its open-source code and its great compatibility we find skins to modify it easily on the net, for the adventurers who would like to customize it to the extreme

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

If you need simple, light, and convenient software for drawing and creating vectors, Inkscape is the one you need. Especially if the price matters for you and if you still need professional features

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a developer, I often need to edit images. Inkscape allows me to create simple shapes, edit vector drawings, which I can then integrate into my sites without worrying about redimensioning. I also have to create some icons or .svg, for my sites and for it inkscape is very usefull. I'm not a drawer or painter at all but this tools is easy to use if you take the time to learn the basics.
this allows me to retouch or even redraw logos in poor quality, or to create sets of personalized icons very quickly and with very little knowledge of drawing

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Ease of use, similar work flow as most common paid software. Free.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Large package, and kind of resource hungry.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Design graphics, like logos, and some drawings. Quick learning curve.

 ### 24. A free alternative to Adobe Illustrator from the world of open source

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie P. | Printing Operator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like that Inkscape is free because it is from the open source world, so I can give a copy to clients if they want to work on their own documents.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Of course they couldn't make Inkscape work exactly like Adobe Illustrator or it would be an intellectual property issue, but it would be nice if they could.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I have a client who wants to create or edit a document themselves, I send them a copy of Inkscape. Because it is free and from the world of open source, I can do this without any cost. I benefit from the client being able to spend their time working on a document, and sending it back to me, reducing the time I have to spend on a document. Of course this is only if a client has indicated that they want to work on the document themselves, but it is a helpful option.

 ### 25. Great for occasional tasks

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff C. | Researcher/PhD Candidate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Free, open-source software that lets you edit Photoshop files and save print-ready graphics. I make print-ready graphics for publication in research journals.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Not the most intuitive and user friendly if you aren't already familiar with photoshop

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Decent support online, but not the most user friendly program. However, for occasional use definitely a great choice vs photoshop.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Inkscape to edit and create high-quality, print-ready graphics. I use it both for making simple graphics and making revisions to complicated graphical products that other people (eg, ad agency) made that need simple updates. This program lets me make those crucial edits or review files without having to pay for

 ### 26. Technical drawings with vector graphics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dervis G. | Freelance Graphic Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

This powerful tool with which you can create and edit vector graphics of all kinds, available for Linux, Mac and Windows systems, include an updated user interface, presents a compatibility with 4K / HiDPI screens that the most purists appreciate and, in addition, theme support. Inkscape has the ability to rotate and reflect canvases, the new options offered when exporting to PNG, the option of using variable sources, much faster plotting operations and eliminating the selection of a large number of strokes. The program uses the Standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) specification of W3C, based on XML

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

In comparison with Paint, a more intensive adaptation is necessary to use it, as well as having technical knowledge to obtain good results. For those who are accustomed to other programs such as Illustrator, Sketch or CorelDRAW and, they must adapt to Inkscape and some people do not like their work area.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Inkscape is used as an alternative to Paint by professionals and design enthusiasts worldwide.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape facilitates the technical drawing of great precision with the so-called routes. For this, different shapes can be used, such as squares, ellipses, polygons or spirals, which can be modified, moved, scaled, rotated or tilted manually. That is why in our design department, we use it as a complement on some occasions when we want a tool that is possible to design vector images, combine them with other images or add animations. The drawing tools are just as scarce as in Paint, so to make freehand drawings you must use the pen, calligraphy or filler tools.

 ### 27. Modify images for free.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Plastics | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Using the advantages of Inkscape is that I can do it for free. Being a graphic designer, most designs are vector-based, and that's why I like Inkscape, as it is designed for vector illustration purposes. I like the format that makes it user-friendly. I like its support for multi-file formats. I also like to make high-quality prints and web work. Inkscape is also great based on the support features for user complaints and constant updates. In reality, the support tab in the application is responsive, unlike many software which was a big surprise to me. Since it is available, it is a good application.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Being open-source technology, while using the software, I expected some disadvantages.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

For beginner graphic designers and illustrators, I would recommend Inkscape as a platform to improve your skills, as the program offers the main tools needed in the creative process.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I primarily use Inkscape to create vector graphics. The benefits I found in using the program are the ease of generating vectors and the vast export options that allow me to continue working on them with more advanced software.

I use Inkscape for day to day graphical tasks. Inkscape is very easy to use for someone like me. I use Inkscape to create simple vector graphic designs for office use,

 ### 31. High quality vector figures

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like to use Inkscape to change the format of my files and still keep them vector figures with a different format. Also, as they are vector figures, I can edit them and apply a lot of changes that I cannot do with other software. absolutely amazing!

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I don't like the environment a lot. It is a little complicate and at the beginning, it was hard for me to understand how to use it, but when you learn, you will see that it is amazing.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I recommend everyone to use it to have high-quality figures and easily change the format of their figures without losing quality. This is one of the best software that I found to change the quality of my figures. The software also allows users to edit figures and as they are vector figures, you can apply a lot of changes that the other software do not allow you to do.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Inkscape to convert my figures that are vector figures with .pdf format to other formats like .emf. some software only gives us .pdf format and we need to edit them a little bit and Inkscape made it easy for us to do so.

 ### 32. The best open source option for creating vector graphics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos S. | Interior designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

It is one of the standard software, and this facilitates the search of information and online tutorials, which facilitates the understanding of how it works. It also provides some tutorials with the program itself, which is always good to have. It is also free and open source, so users can develop it and change it if they need it. The website has many suggestions on tutorials and key bindings, which is good to have as a new user.
The functionalities are quite broad and useful, which allows users to produce shapes and lines that can be easily modified using nodes, without losing any of their quality. It has many predetermined forms, but it also has some tools that allow users to draw the shapes they need. The user can also modify the default forms to suit what they need. There are also countless options with which to work with respect to colors, gradients, position changes, grouping, selection, etc. There is even a selection tool that allows the user to select similar objects by their color or shape! It also allows you to save the files in standard formats that can then be sent to others, or use in programs such as Photoshop, which is a great option in case any additional modification is required that can not be done in Inkscape.
In general, it has excellent tools that facilitate the work quite well for users, both regular and new in the software.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

This is purely aesthetic, but one thing that discouraged me a bit was the white design. When I first logged into the program, it reminded me of Sticky Notes on my computer. I did not have the Adobe-esque feel that Gimp had basically with the same dark design. It just did not seem like it could withstand the creation of numerous graphic layers and really difficult tool maneuvers. While it is obviously not Adobe Illustrator, it seems that Inkscape has many essential features to link with Gimp, that when these two free programs are paired, the result is very similar to Adobe Suite products. It's a bit different in the area of tools like AI. I could not figure out how to move objects to different layers. He was not as intuitive as AI or Gimp, for that matter.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I really liked using it to produce logos and other vectorized images, since it has many options that facilitate the work. I would really recommend it to anyone interested in practicing vector art, especially if you can not afford the most expensive software, since it has everything you need to start.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape is a vector software that allows you to create logos, illustrations, infographics, etc. Download that program to use it in my independent illustration work, I also use it to beautify the images that should be shown to the clients. The other program that I had been using was Gimp, another free software. But Gimp was not allowing me to create basic shapes. So I was able to save the file I was working on in Gimp as a .pdf file and then take it to Inkscape where I added boxes that were perfectly adjustable and were not anchored after you created them. I was able to go back and adjust the color of the boxes and also add and format the text inside them.

 ### 33. Really good tool for vector images.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandra C. | Web Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

You can edit PDFs directly on Inkscape, even those that are supposed to be locked. I started using this as a tool to convert the .ai files to .svg for whenever a clueless graphic designer sent me the file with the wrong extension. One day I miss clicked and opened a PDF that was supposed to be non-editable but It was perfectly possible to edit them with Inkscape.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Helps me editing the PDFs I need and converts the files I need to be converted, so nothing to dislike at all.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

It's free to use so try it, if you don't like it you can just delete this.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Converting vector images to other formats and editing PDFs.

 ### 34. Create your landscape from Inkscape

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

The first thing that i really enjoy about Inkscape is the price which is a free download. You can do a search for it and download it in seconds. The software has a ton of features that I needed. I use to use Illustrator but could not afford it any more. This is a great go to for editing vector images.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Sometimes when you selector your image to create a bitmap of it the pop up screen sometime when you minimize it then the whole program minimizes down. But really that is the only complaint that I have with it. I actually use it daily to manipulate graphics for my laser engraver.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

For a free version of graphic software this has to be your choice.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving not having cash in my pocket to purchase expensive graphic programs and getting a graphic program that fits all my needs. I am still learning more about it with watching youtube videos and tutorials.

 ### 35. Bitmap tracing saves me time recreating logos in vectors

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ted K. | Digital Producer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like the feature that traces bitmaps for me automatically, which saves me time turning a logo into a vector logo. This is much quicker and more efficient than doing it manually.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I have had occasional problems with the software freezing when I am importing a bitmap graphic of high file size to trace, but I have learned to not use large bitmaps.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Inkscape in the creation of graphics in vector format. Vector format have a couple of benefits: The file sizes are much smaller for the web, and the quality is perfect even if scaled up in size or printed at high resolution. By using Inkscape to convert my graphics and logos into vector format, I realise both of these benefits.

 ### 36. The right product for vector graphics design

Its a good software where vector graphics design are concerned. It will just take a short time for you to get the full knowledge on how it works and after that you will enjoy the services that it offers.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Inkscape in vector graphics designing.
designing cards.
creating professional commercial logos.

 ### 37. We use this with our digital vinyl cutters

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucy H. | DTG Operative, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like that Inkscape is compatible with our digital vinyl cutters, including the Silhouette vinyl cutter, by exporting files and saving them to the SD card.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I don't have any problems with Inkscape and it is essential for operating our vinyl cutters.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have multiple vinyl cutters, including a vinyl cutter from Silhouette. We use Inkscape to generate the files for cutting with these vinyl cutters. We export the vector shape layer for the cutting path to DXF format from Inkscape, and use it on the vinyl cutters. It's been a problem finding software that exports to this format correctly, so this software is a great benefit to us as we would not be able to operate the vinyl cutters properly otherwise.

 ### 39. Inkscape has no appearance

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rosenildes S. | Graphic program for graphic user, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Inkscape is open supply, free, and straightforward to use from the get go. It permits you to find out the fundamentals of vector style while not the sophisticated interface of Adobe product, and did I mention it's FREE!? It's nice if you're simply coming up with a emblem here or there, and can offer you most of the tools you wish to try and do easy jobs effectively. The image trace is one in all the most effective I've used, that is wherever this very sets itself apart.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

It has a bent to freeze on giant comes, doesn't export to business common file varieties like .ai, and thus causing to a shopper will be tough, particularly if they'd prefer to create edits of their own. Also, whereas it's straightforward to use, setting it up is tough as you technically must transfer two separate applications to create it run on a raincoat (I'm unsure whether or not or not this is often needed on Windows machines). This makes it somewhat ungainly to rise and associate with. However, I'll iterate that it's straightforward to use once you've got everything downloaded and began up.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

We principally use Inkscape for image drawing and vector style. We've got benefitted kind Inkscape by having the ability to form vectors quickly.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allowed Pine Tree State to make comfortable styles rather than counting on outsourced style partners, that quickened latent period while not cost accounting any more money. This gave North American country a leg up, permitting fast turnarounds and in some cases, same day sales, with customers for whom timeline was a significant issue.

Inkscape can transform created shapes and manipulate them in way such as rotating and scaling. It can transform circles into arcs. It allows freehand drawing of lines. It as well create copies of several items .

 ### 42. Professional logo designer and illustrator.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua D. | Founder and Lead Artist, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Very intuitive interface. Simple enough for a six year old* to use, yet powerful enough for most professional designers; especially for web-based designs. Inkscape is my go-to vector software. Oh yeah. It is FREE!

The user community is amazing. Any time (day or night) I've had an issue or a question, I've just popped on over to the INKSCAPE - Draw Freely Facebook page and within a very reasonable time, someone has offered a solution.

*ok, my gifted six year old, but he was six nonetheless when he started producing amazing art with it.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

No access to pantone or CMYK color libraries.
Native SVG files don't play well with Adobe products.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

If you're looking for reliable vector software, you cannot afford to not give it a try.
It is literally FREE to use. Forever. No week-long or 30-day trials here.

But don't let the cost (or lack thereof) fool you. It's value is beyond measure!

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use inkscape to design marketing materials that are cut out with a Cricut. I use Inkscape to create vector masks for gold foil stamping on business cards. Anything that can be designed can be drawn in Inkscape: logos, flyers, posters, illustrations... In fact, there was a time I was using it for everything.

I even use it to draft invoices/proposals, and more on custom letterhead.
A major benefit is being able to maintain a constant look across the board.

 ### 43. A really good alternative to expensive vector graphics design software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jasper H. | Large Format Operator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like that Inkscape is created by volunteers who work in open source software, which makes the software free to download, and creates a real challenger to expensive software that dominates the market.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Some of the tools aren't as good as the leading vector graphics software, but the main tools that you need to create documents rae there.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using Inkscape as a free alternative to some of the more expensive vector graphics design software available. With prices increasing on other software like Adobe Illustrator that requires a monthly subscription, I thought it was important to give this a try, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it is. If you want free software, I recommend giving Inkscape a try.

 ### 44. It's almost as good as Adobe Illustrator but with some differences

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William H. | Data Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like that Inkscape is a really small application that loads quickly and doesn't use much memory, so I can use it on a cheap desktop or laptop computer that doesn't have much power.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I don't like that Inkscape doesn't have any tools for dealing with merged data for example for creating a batch of labels to exacting print specifications.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Free to download.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape was something that was brought to my attention when browsing graphic design forums. I gave it a try and was pleased with how simple it was for creating simple designs and graphics. And now it is my tool for doing this, and importing into Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Word when performing data merges.

 ### 45. Inkscape is a tool that I'm starting to use more as I move to SVG graphics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomas E. | Lead Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like that Inkscape is an excellent tool for exporting to SVG graphics, which is a format I'm moving to as a web designer.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I haven't found any problems with Inkscape from using it for making SVG graphics; it works very well.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Open source; free.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been moving towards using SVG graphics on the web sites I create, as the format makes smaller file sizes that load quicker, and render with excellent quality on high resolution devices. With mobile device having very high resolution devices, this is getting more important, so by using Inkscape to create and export SVG graphics, I benefit from having the highest resolution graphics.

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I have used Inkscape as an alternative to Adobe for some simple manipulation of graphics for logos and so on. This is one of the best completely free programs available for those with some background in vector editing. The positives are that you can run it on both Windows and Mac, it has a good interface, and comes with a full tutorial set. It is a good starter editor for those with time to invest.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

The program is download-only and it’s large size means the download can be glitchy. Like most editors, requires a graphic design background or a steep learning curve.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape has been useful for creating some graphic design content, where we did not have extensive enough needs to purchase Adobe, as we were creating a few logos.

At the beginning, it may seem counterintuitive and definitely harder to learn compared do other (expensive) competitors. Unfortunately, the compatibility with Adobe Illustrator is not guaranteed in the svg format.

Working on scientific research, I found Inkscape perfect to make nice presentations and plots.
