## About Inkscape
Inkscape is a free and open-source vector graphics editor available for GNU/Linux, Windows, and macOS. It is widely used for creating both artistic and technical illustrations, including cartoons, clip art, logos, typography, diagrams, and flowcharts. By utilizing vector graphics, Inkscape ensures sharp printouts and renderings at any resolution, unlike raster graphics that are limited by pixel count. The software employs the standardized Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format as its primary format, which is supported by many other applications, including web browsers. Key Features and Functionality: - Object Creation: Inkscape offers a variety of tools for drawing and shaping objects, such as the Pencil tool for freehand drawing, the Pen tool for creating Bézier curves and straight lines, and the Calligraphy tool for producing filled paths that mimic calligraphic strokes. It also includes shape tools for rectangles, ellipses, stars, polygons, and spirals. - Object Manipulation: Users can perform transformations like moving, scaling, rotating, and skewing objects both interactively and by specifying exact numeric values. Inkscape supports grouping objects, layering, and aligning and distributing objects for precise design control. - Text Support: The software provides a comprehensive text tool that allows for multi-line text, full on-canvas editing, and the ability to flow text along a path or into a shape. Users can adjust font, spacing, kerning, and more. - File Format Compatibility: Inkscape can import and export various file formats, including SVG, AI, EPS, PDF, PS, and PNG, facilitating interoperability with other graphic design tools. - Extensibility: Designed to be extensible, Inkscape allows users to customize its functionality with add-ons, enhancing its capabilities to meet specific needs. Primary Value and User Solutions: Inkscape provides a powerful, free alternative to proprietary vector graphics editors, enabling users to create high-quality illustrations without financial barriers. Its support for the SVG standard ensures compatibility and ease of sharing across different platforms and applications. The software's comprehensive feature set, combined with its user-friendly interface and multi-lingual support, makes it accessible to a broad audience, from beginners to professional designers. By offering tools for precise object creation and manipulation, robust text support, and compatibility with various file formats, Inkscape addresses the diverse needs of users seeking a versatile and cost-effective solution for vector graphic design.

## Inkscape Reviews
 ### 1. My Daily Experience with Inkscape

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vikko Okviandho L. | Owner, Arts and Crafts, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

the ability to drag a line (stroke) without using the node handles

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

the limitation of CMYK supports can be discouraging for some people

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Inkscape still in pretty much a beta status. Hence the version 0.91. It also has a limited support for CMYK if you need it. CMYK is supported, but you need another free software to make use of the CMYK. But in all of its limitations, it can deliver great artwork once you get what it can do. Even better than certain softwares.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to make daily vector illustrations and vector clip arts. The benefits is the freedom to use it without any cost and the lightweight usage of memory

 ### 2. I use Inkscape to design texture patterns, logos and icons mainly, but for character design too.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** José Luis M. | Test Engineering Associate en Accenture, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

It's an easy to use software. Few clicks create the vectors you need. Also, the fact that is free, open source software makes it easier to get than paid software.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Of course, as many open source projects, it's development lacks of some features in comparison to the privative "competitor".

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

It's UI is not as pretty as others and don't have as many features as other software has, but it can create the same as Illustrator for less money.

There are many tutorials and resources online for you to learn and quicken your workflow.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick solutions to design problems and low cost software but quality it's not compromised.

 ### 3. Best Tracing Feature

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Better image tracing feature than all the other programs I've tried.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Slow, sometimes crashes/exits when performing tasks

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding out what people want and figure out ways to give it to them.

 ### 4. The de-facto free standard svg/pdf solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Massimo R. | IT Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Versatile, fast, very easy to use, stable.
Besides, since it doesn't try to wrap the SVG format too much, it's very interoperable.
Support for PDF annotations and editing comes very handy
Love the support for LaTeX export.
Nice, non-threatening learning curve.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

For my purposes (I'm not a power user in the graphics department), nothing really.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simple flyers and documents; PDF forms, graphics for Engineering books

 ### 5. Inkscape from a Web Designer/Developer's point of view

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos G. | Web Developer, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Ease of use, amount of tools, possibility of adding external (and third party) plug-ins, SVG compatibility, and so much more I could go through.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Some incompatibilities when opening third party file formats and font handling.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Give it a try. Believe me, I was an Ado** CS user for years and I decided to got the "Open Source" direction. Inkscape is now one the the most important tool on my "tool set".

 ### 6. Powerful software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amruta R. | Owner, Arts and Crafts, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

It is free. And the option for cutmarks is great :) Placing a grid is easier than in photoshop. A nice interface.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Shortcuts aren't straightforward compared to Photoshop

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Give it a try. It might be better than Photoshop/Illustrator depending on what you want to accomplish. I like it. It is a nice backup software to open .eps file formats. Have used it couple of times when Adobe crashed. Never let me down. Great software!

 ### 7. My Journey In The World Of Graphic Design Started With Inkscape

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

That this program was/is a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator and the best part is the color palette

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Mainly the interface - I did not find it to be Mac friendly. When my office started graphic design on Windows, it was fine and we were young and had limited funds. When we switched over to Mac, things changed and we found that Adobe Illustrator and Affinity Designer meet our needs much more. Also, the program crashed way to often on our Windows system.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

It's a great program if you are looking for a free graphic program.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to meet our deadlines.
Having a strong reliable program to handle the work flow.
We did realized that we started to grow - Adobe Illustrator met our needs more and more and we seemed to be limited by Inkscape.

 ### 8. Creativity on the loose

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Photography | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I discovered Inkscape by accident and it's let me be more creative and more inspired. You are only limited by your imagination.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Clone Titling is a bit difficult to get the hang of but playing around with it and you'll soon see that it can be useful.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Some of the documentation needs to be brought current with the new release of Inkscape 0.91 other than that it old documentation works well.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to use Inkscape to design custom bookmarks for my NPO.

 ### 9. The best cross platform, free, vectorial editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

As an amateur user, Inkscape has all the functionalities that you'll ever need. Its open source, runs on every platform, the performance is very good and file support.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Import of proprietary formats is not the best, you better stick to its native format or SVG.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

You can't beat it for the price of $0. You can use it for everything you want on every platform you like, just know that it won't work very well with other proprietary file formats (Corel, Illustrator, etc).

 ### 10. Inkscape Is the Best Vector Program EVER!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Konstantina L. | Font Maker @Nantia.co, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like that is easy to use. It is a light program. I love the brushes and the ease of manipulating the nodes of the vectors. Best svg program I ever used.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I don't like the mac version of the program. I like to use it only on windows.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Test it for yourself. I recommend it.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since I started using inkscape I started making better svg products.

 ### 11. Good for students (too)

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

It was the first vector graphic software I worked with, ("worked" sounds too professional, I was playing around, learning) years ago. It was small, easy to access. I liked the 3D style shapes featured among the regular ones.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

probably the text tool. I used to work with Illustrator, and that seemed more logical and swift to handle.
I should probably open inkscape to give a proper in depth review, but I had to delete many softwares due to a memory problem on my PC and this one had to go too. Might reinstall it on another device.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

-

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**
