## About Inkscape
Inkscape is a free and open-source vector graphics editor available for GNU/Linux, Windows, and macOS. It is widely used for creating both artistic and technical illustrations, including cartoons, clip art, logos, typography, diagrams, and flowcharts. By utilizing vector graphics, Inkscape ensures sharp printouts and renderings at any resolution, unlike raster graphics that are limited by pixel count. The software employs the standardized Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format as its primary format, which is supported by many other applications, including web browsers. Key Features and Functionality: - Object Creation: Inkscape offers a variety of tools for drawing and shaping objects, such as the Pencil tool for freehand drawing, the Pen tool for creating Bézier curves and straight lines, and the Calligraphy tool for producing filled paths that mimic calligraphic strokes. It also includes shape tools for rectangles, ellipses, stars, polygons, and spirals. - Object Manipulation: Users can perform transformations like moving, scaling, rotating, and skewing objects both interactively and by specifying exact numeric values. Inkscape supports grouping objects, layering, and aligning and distributing objects for precise design control. - Text Support: The software provides a comprehensive text tool that allows for multi-line text, full on-canvas editing, and the ability to flow text along a path or into a shape. Users can adjust font, spacing, kerning, and more. - File Format Compatibility: Inkscape can import and export various file formats, including SVG, AI, EPS, PDF, PS, and PNG, facilitating interoperability with other graphic design tools. - Extensibility: Designed to be extensible, Inkscape allows users to customize its functionality with add-ons, enhancing its capabilities to meet specific needs. Primary Value and User Solutions: Inkscape provides a powerful, free alternative to proprietary vector graphics editors, enabling users to create high-quality illustrations without financial barriers. Its support for the SVG standard ensures compatibility and ease of sharing across different platforms and applications. The software's comprehensive feature set, combined with its user-friendly interface and multi-lingual support, makes it accessible to a broad audience, from beginners to professional designers. By offering tools for precise object creation and manipulation, robust text support, and compatibility with various file formats, Inkscape addresses the diverse needs of users seeking a versatile and cost-effective solution for vector graphic design.

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

What I like about Inkscape is its easier export of png files. You can export any element of Vector files without even having to know much about vector illustrations.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Compared to other softwares like adobe illustrator, Inkscape is much limited to its features, but overall it gives its own advantages.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

With its user-friendly interface for new users in vector graphics, I will recommend Inkscape

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used this software for a while, and I think for the first time, vector illustration enthusiasm, I will recommend Inkscape

 ### 2. Inkscape review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** vasi s. | Digital printing/prepress/press, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

The best thing is that it is open source

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Once job done on inkscape should open directly on openshot time line instead of showing in the project window.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

The best easy to use open source application for text editing.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very easy to design and edit text or subtitles and import them in openshot.

 ### 3. Try it, and convert it in your first choice.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomas R. | Public Service Assintant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

What I like the most about InkScape is that you can do vector design, which allows you to increase your efficiency and maximize the quality of your drawings and designs quickly using vector programming. On the other hand, it covers a large number of functions which implies a great advantage since it offers a wide variety of options adapted to your comfort. Its incredible versatility and functionality make Inkscape mark distances with its competition; it also has compatibility with the most used operating systems.
It is a professional editor to make any illustrations; it is specialized for design work, this will allow you to create a wide variety of drawings comfortably and efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Within my professional experience with Inkscape, I can highlight the fact that this software is not ideal if you need to save your designs in JPG format, which takes away points in versatility. Another detail is that it is not the image processing software you are looking for to make frame-by-frame animations. Another fact is that it does not have filter and effect previews.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Of course, I recommend it. It is a complete software that can compete without complexes with others of the same type, thanks to a community that develops it and keeps it updated to meet any designer's need. It is a plan B that can very easily be converted into a plan A.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape has been a great option to consider financially; since being free software, you can obtain it for free and use it in your company at zero cost and still obtain quality and reliable results in the designs that have to do with it. With the development and promotion of the company.

 ### 4. Design whatever you want with InkScape.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter A. | Legal Advisor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

InkScape is a tool made in free software (which allows it to be used and improved by a thriving community of users), whose main objective is to be a powerful and comfortable drawing and design tool that is highly compatible with XML, CSS, and SVG file standards. It has within its different arsenal options that are effective and capable of competing with other proprietary software tools. It has a friendly and intuitive interface that closely resembles other consumer tools on the market. At the behavioral level, you can say that it uses computer resources optimally and effectively, without saturating memory in your computer. It is available in most repositories of the different Linux distributions out there.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

There are few things about InkScape to highlight as unfavorable or that I don't like. I feel very comfortable with these tools; however, there's no perfect software, so I can mention things like that some agencies are limited; this if we compare it with other proprietary software that can be much more powerful and effective. Although obviously, all this has room for improvement, it is a detail that should be taken care of more. Another point to highlight is that it does not have a preview of effects and filters; something essential to take care of the finish of your designs more effectively.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I highly recommend it. Inkscape is a viable and valuable option for Free Software users and even those who are not, since You can also use it from operating systems such as Windows.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape is a powerful tool in its own right. It has helped me to produce designs in an efficient, effective, and appropriate way to what my clients have asked for. In a very minimalist setup, but that gives you just what you need, I have been able to find a way (thanks to its options) to be able to digitize what I have in mind and be able to translate it into the computer.

 ### 5. xxxx

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paulo M. | Senior CAD Design Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

- Free software
- Vector graphics and bipmap graphics editing tools
- The majority of tools and processes work in a similar way to other graphic design software (Corel Draw and Illustrator)
- Short learning curve
- Versions for Windows, Mac and Linux
- Can run in older computers
- Excellent software for occasional users and hobbyists
- Can be used on professional settings as a support software

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

- Although is a very good software, isn't a complete replacement for professionals
- Limited on the export formats
- Some advanced tools aren't available

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I worked with Corel Draw for 4 years in a signage company. When I left, I started to use Inkscape for some occasional works and personal works.
So this software allow me to keep creating and editing graphics without spending money in a software that would only be used occasionally.
Although is a free software, it can be used in professional settings when used occasionally.

 ### 6. The best vector software you'll get at this price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** J.D. B. | Director of Marketing and Sales, Publishing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

It's a perfectly functional vector illustration software. Perfect for solo professional projects and beginners.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

The only thing I don't like about the program is I don't have the time to sit and learn about all its functions.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's been how I've designed initial logos for a few projects.

 ### 7. Top quality graphics editing software.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Waqas S. | Lecturer Computer Science (BPS-17), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

It is excellent software for vector-based graphics (SVG) creation and editing. It provides lots of vector editing tools. The most important tool in Inkscape is Node selection which is an alternative to the direct-selection tool of Illustrator. It is a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Sometimes the processing is slow. The User Interface is not user-friendly. Require extensive learning curve—issues with editing Illustrator files.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is full-featured vector-based graphic editing software with lots of extensions available. Their website provides a good manual for using the software. As a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator is came in handy.

 ### 8. Wanna be a Vector Artist without spending for those overpriced apps? Then go for it!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antariksh P. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

FULLY FEATURED vector graphics program that's available for FREE!
If you are familiar with CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator, then the UI is quite intuitive!

Bonus:
Supports SVG!
Good for creating SVG Animations too! Just save the file and use a text editor to tweak the code and add animations.
Great for making SVG designs for your websites too!
Plugins to improve and add to the functionalities.
Being an open source software, you can even fix bugs, improve existing features or even add functionalities your own (of course, only if you are familiar with some coding)!

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

The cons:
Quite CPU intensive and should be optimized.
Not good for frame by frame animations.
Applied modifiers may not be compatible when exported to other formats like SIF (Synfig Studio file format)

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Inkscape is the best free alternative to anyone who's starting out as vector graphics artist. You can even install plugins to add to the existing functionalities. For website designers, Inkscape is literally the best SVG designing tool out there!

In case you are looking for vector/skeletal animations, then Inkscape files can be exported to be used in Synfig Studio using the sif exporter plugin. The only downside: exporting to SIF with modifiers gives an undesirable result.

Files can even be exported into the good old PNG format and could also be used for skeletal animation.

If you are looking for frame-by-frame animation, then Inkscape isn't the right tool since the process could be extremely tedious!

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The best part is that you don't have to resort to piracy if you want to be a digital artist. I've made multiple low poly artworks and SMIL animations with Inkscape.

I even designed my business cards in Inkscape along with few posters and T-Shirts!

 ### 9. Best Free Design Alternative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gustavo N. | Media Creator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

It's Free and Easy to Use!
At first, you might have doubts about the true potential of this design software, but after using it, you realize that is not the design software that you use that makes amazing designs, rather, is your creativity, dedication, and joy doing what you love.

Easy to Create Vectors:
I highly recommend this for those who are in the font industry.

Exporting Several Objects at the same time:
When you have a bunch of separate designs (icons. logos etc.) in the same document, Inkscape allows you to save them as a whole, or, individually, making Inkscake very timesaving software.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Exporting/Saving Your Designs:
What I dislike about Inkscape is that is limited in terms of speed and in saving formats.
You can not save your designs as a jpeg, only as png or svg. This is a little disappointing because you need to use other software besides Inkscape to convert your svg or png to jpeg.

Tracing Bitmaps:
The tracer tool is very limited, and freezes easily, the software cant handle heavy tracing process.

Gradients:
Applying gradients to objects is something that you have to deal with. If you are used to other software like Corel, you might feel a little frustrated as the gradient by default changes if you move an object. There is an option that you can use to solve this problem, there is a button in the tools control bar, on "select tool" that allows you to move gradients along with the objects.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Totally Recommended For Low Or No Budget:
If you are considering using free design software, then give Inkscape a try, you might feel a little out of place especially if you have been using other designs software, but, the more you use it the faster you get.

Vector Enthusiast:
Highly recommended for Vector makers.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Low Budget:
Free is always good, and help you to build up a portfolio without breaking the bank.

Dedicate Vector Software:
Inkscape specialty is vector designing. This is very handy if you are, for example, making your own icons and fonts.

PNG:
Very easy and good quality png extension.

 ### 10. Most intuitive pen drawing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Blagojche K. | Brand Identity Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like the Spiro mode of the "pen tool", it's more intuitive than the regular bezier mode and it's a very forgiving tool meaning I can experiment with the shapes and is not required a perfect hand sketch, I can draw shapes without sketches...

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

That some of the good features from the previous releases are not available in the last update.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can experiment with the shapes without working to have a perfect hand sketch

 ### 11. Free version of Adobe products

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Number one I enjoy that it is free. I have enjoyed using this to make SVGs for projects.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

A little difficult to use at first but many tutorials to teach you to use

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Great tool if you are just getting into vector designs.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No problems

 ### 12. Great software for symbols vectors

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like the ease in which you can create simple vector designs. I use it to design graphics for shirts or posters and it works great for the simple words/phrases or images.0

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

It is difficult to use Inkscape to make anything that is high quality. Though there are many tools to use, figuring out the best way to use them is not always simple. There is not much help through Inkscape itself but you can find a good YouTube community for learning how to do things.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

If you need something for simple designs or vectors, Inkscape is great. If you want to professionally edit photos or create designs, find a different software.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am easily able to create graphics or designs for promotional materials through inkscape. It is very helpful for editing simple images.

 ### 13. Inkscape is a great alternative for vector graphics productivity work.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jerry C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

It is by far, one of the most significant vector graphics software I have used since my early Adobe Suite and CorelDraw days; before they migrated to encouraging cloud-based subscription versions.

I realise too, all these renown brands became a little costly for young startups and freelancers to afford, hence encouraging pirated software to flood the market.

Inkscape timely positioned itself as a decent alternative, for its amazing features that were reasonably compatible in many respects, and similar to those that designers were acquainted with using earlier branded versions.

What would have enticed many loyalists to migrate to Inkscape could have been, and probably still is – Inkscape is easily downloadable from the Web and subscription-free!
Besides, there are also loads of YouTube tutorials and forums that users can count on to seek out solutions or resolve ambiguities.

Unless a design team is looking towards creating dynamic graphics across a variety of software, the standalone Inkscape software meets most audio-visual designers'/publishers' productivity criteria.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Nothing that would stifle my design production work. Inkscape will certainly make a mark in this segment if it offered a variety of integrated programs. Image editing software that allows such integration would be a marvellous add-on!
PDF-related features like merging and compressing files would make the application more alluring.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It meets my needs when planning page layouts for magazine design and production.
Most importantly, I can share SVG files with other users irrespective of whether they are on Windows or Mac OS platform.
Even if they do not have Inkscape on their computers, they can easily download the software and immediately use it.

 ### 14. Overall Great Program for Specific Needs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** jaden r. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

What I like the best about Inkscape is that is a very useful program to help with my designs. I love the fact that it is also free! That is always a plus when I am using programs on the Internet. I use this to make banners, designs, logos, and fonts. I can tailor it for my specific designs based on what I am creating!

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

There are very few cons or complaints that I can state when reviewing this product. If I had to choose something, it would be that it can get "laggy" or bogged down due to it not being a super fast program if I am creating many different paths in a project.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some problems that I am solving are solutions when I am creating and designing. Inkscape is beneficial because it is super user-friendly to keep adding details to certain logos or projects that I am working on. I feel like it is a pretty smart and comprehensive program.

 ### 15. Considering it's open-sourced, it's one of the best out there

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anurag K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

* Huge variety of extensions supported.
*100% free and community-based.
*Covers Advanced vector editing features.
*Ability to trace images to vectors.
*Can be seamlessly connected with Openshot to create beautiful, gradient-based effects in the text used over videos.
*Used with with CANVA and GIMP, this will be all that you need if you are someone like me who designs occasionally and that too for business purposes only.
*For starters, tutorials are available on youtube to get started with basic vector editing.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

*If you are a MAC user, the recent rollout is damn slow. Windows version is seamless though.
*Limited export extensions can often land you in trouble as most printers (at least in India) will ask for CDR format whereas Inkscape will help you mostly with SVG and PDF.
*The colours supported are HEX and not CMYK. So when sent for print, some colours might appear to be something different altogether. There are online tools to change colour codes but none of them is effective.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I design marketing collaterals over it. Depending on need and season of the year, this includes Visiting cards, Brochures, pamphlets, flex, standee, ID cards and a lot more. For specific marketing campaigns, we even design calendar once a year on it. Most of our efforts in Inkscape are complemented with Canva as we do design heavily for printing purposes. Canva helps in brings multiple exports from Inkscape to live and also helps in making those exports viable for printing purposes

 ### 16. Vector image editor that is both helful and free

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dinara M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Intuitive easy to use interface, a lot of filters, and it is absolutely free. There are a lot of tutorials available online if you want to learn Inkscape and they have a very helpful online community. The ability to export to many common formats, both vector (EPS, PostScript, PDF, AI and others) and raster.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Can freeze from time to time as it can be demanding for some devices. Doesn’t support CYMK color system. No preview mode to check out the effects.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

As I’ve mentioned the program is very demanding on the system resources of your computer so, sometimes it will be brutally slow, especially if you create a bunch of objects and want to pass everything through filters. Wouldn’t recommend doing this.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We now use Inkscape when it comes to vector designing such as creating icons, logos and fonts.

 ### 17. Not user friendly

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fine Art | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like that it is open source, but as far as usability I don't like it.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

It is frustrating to use after having had experience with other softwares. The tools are not as user friendly and the ability to create is limited.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Feel free to give it a try, but be prepared to try alternatives.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was not able to solve problems or see benefits with Inkscape.

 ### 18. Inkscape is Good For Editing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anisa M. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like that I can easily edit and make designs in the software without any problems. Hands down the best part about Inkscape is that it's free and it's accessible to everyone. The software is easy to use and you can easily learn the mechanics of the software. There is no guessing and prodding around with it. Once you learn how to use it, Inkscape is the easiest software to use. It offers all the tools you could ever need and it has a lot of useful extensions for more specific needs. Inkscape is also open software and they encourage their users t to add onto it for more features. It uses primarily SVG files, but you can import almost any kind of file into the software. The software and company are so good, I've never had to contact them for anything.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

There isn't a lot to say about my dislikes on Inkscape. It has some trouble printing larger files. I can't print 11x17 paper or anything bigger directly from Inkscape. I always have to export the file and print it in a different way. Other than that, I can't say that I have a lot of problems with Inkscape.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I recommend you watch tutorials on Youtube about Inkscape. The tutorials help a lot when you are looking for something specific. The tutorials are also always very well thought out and never fail to teach me something new.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Inkscape, I can create designs for my t-shirts, cups, mugs, and other things. Inkscape allows me to take other files and change the color or edit out the things I don't like. Inkscape makes making business easier and more efficient for me.

 ### 19. Complete and Free

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** André A. | Outsystems Developer, Civic & Social Organization, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I also highly value the fact that there is a Portuguese version, making it even more democratic and accessible to anyone. It is also possible to easily find the manuals entirely in Portuguese, which facilitates the search for some functionality.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

The fact that the interface does not yet have night or cloud mode.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I recommend that users look for what they like to do in other programs and try to do the same in Inkscape. You will find that in addition to being free it caters to everything you need.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I was starting to work as a design, Inkscape was the most complete solution I could have without monthly subscriptions without losing the quality of my work. I believe that educational institutions can also use it.

 ### 20. A wonderful program low valuated

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Miguel L. | Inversionista en Xifra, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

This is one of the best programs to edit images and to create new lines inspectors and edit everything it's actually one of the best programs I ever try

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Some commands are quite confusing and authors are like difficult to understand

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Be patient and read all the tools in the tools board and try everyone before start work because if you have to hurry it will not work well

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have to reduce the size of an emerging you know like reduce the quality to compress the image because it was too big so I used this program to compress the image and it was a very good idea and it worked pretty cool

 ### 21. A powerful and comfortable tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Inkscape is an alternative to other image editing software that has multiple advantages. It mainly has the characteristics of importing and exporting vector-based formats. Another important feature is that it focuses on maintaining a thriving community of users and developers, through an open development system that is very easy to use, learn and improve.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

A point that always plays in comment is not having a preview of effects and filters. This is always useful to speed up the results and generate a product exactly what the client or designer wants.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape allows you to create a powerful and comfortable drawing tool. Mainly that it is compatible with the XML, SVG and CSS standards. This versatility allows the generated product to be of quality and adaptable to customer requirements.

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

If you have never done vector graphics, Inkscape is a great place to start. Inkscape is Open Source software, meaning you can download it and try it out. The creators ask for a donation but this means laying out far less money than for proprietary software.

The wonderful thing about Inkscape is that not only is it a good starting point, primarily because of price, it is also a program that can take you into doing professional-quality work. It has most of the features of other (high-priced) software. If you look around on Youtube and Google, you can find professional designers who use Inkscape and who can tell you how to make Inkscape do what its expensive counterparts do.

Some people fear downloading and using Open Source software such as Inkscape because they worry about technical support. Inkscape has a wiki, a webpage created by many Inkscape programmers and users, with a lot of information about how to use Inkscape and how to solve problems with it. The learning portion of the Inkscape website has video tutorials and other information. There is also a community forum which offers several ways of getting in contact with more expert users.

Additionally, Inkscape has been around long enough that there are many resources across the web for learning what you can do and how to do it. For example, there are videos on Youtube from a range of people.

Inkscape can take you from the trial phase of learning about vector graphic design all the way to being able to do that professionally, and all this for a great price.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I've used Inkscape on Windows, Linux (Debian distros), and Mac. You'd think that Mac, with its appeal to artists, would be the easiest place to use Inkscape. The Mac version has improved in that now you do not have to download another program just to make it work. The current version of the program acts like any other program you download, where you click on the file and install.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

It's a downloaded program, so things like disk space and RAM can be important. Files are not automatically available on the web but reside on the computer.

Tech support is not the traditional "call and we will help" variety, however, there is abundant documentation of the program as well as tutorials on the web.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used Inkscape for a range of tasks:

Graphic design
Image manipulation
Creating complex data visualizations

Graphic design is a no-brainer. After all, that is what it is for.

When I am creating slides (Google Sheets) for teaching my students, I might create an illustration for a concept in Inkscape. Or I might start with an image and convert it into a path so I can change it into something more useful for my teaching goal. I also crop in Inkscape and I can change the color values through semi-transparent overlays.

When I was doing a research project for my organization, I needed to show complex data covering several qualities that were being tracked. I made simple pie graphs for the central concept using Google Sheets. These can be downloaded in svg format. I imported them into Inkscape and was able to combine them with some other graphic elements to make the data comprehensible.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anisa M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I like that you can import all kinds of different files and use them all together to make one thing. I also like that you can change the colors on all files that you import into the software.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I don't like that I have to save the project I'm working on my computer as an SVG and then separately export it as a PNG file. I would like to save it and export it as one file, not two separate things. It also does this weird thing where when you export it everything has to be showing on the screen or else it will export it cut off. Like you can't export it if it's zoomed in because it will only export what is showing on the screen.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I recommend you look online for an easy guide to work it. While it is easy you should know a few things before you get started including navigation.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Inkscape to design t-shirts. It's a live saver when it comes to changing colors and editing SVGs. I made a watermark in five minutes and I can create mock shirts quickly. I'm saving time and money when I use Inkscape for my work.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Staci T. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Inkscape is the easiest program I've found to change or create SVG image files. I commonly use SVG files in creating websites, because they can adjust to the screen size without becoming pixelated, but working with SVG files can be difficult because you cannot use a standard image editor to modify them. Inkscape allows you to click specific nodes of an image and adjust as needed, change colors, add text, as well as adjust the size to exact inches or pixels.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Inkscape can be difficult to use for anyone not familiar with the layout of a similar editor. Their help section is not as detailed as I would have liked and it would have been extremely helpful to have an introductory tutorial that explained the features and how to use the program.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Although difficult for those not familiar with similar programs, Inkscape is one of the easiest programs I have used for editing SVG files.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to alter or create SVG files is important to my business, I've looked around and Inkscape is one of the few that excels in completing that.

It does not offer template models for the objective creation of any idea in the execution process, since you must already know what you are going to do without the help tools for the elaboration of the project, this makes it possible to delay your process of allowing it to be implemented the sophisticated theme obtaining problematic results since it is not shown what was expected at the time of verification for the acceptance of oneself, all this is a detrimental drawback when mentioning that it does not contain an animation system for everything.

Inkscape an open source software. You can use it professionally at no cost to create logos, illustrations, and more. I also like it because you can save images with transparency. In addition, it supports a wide variety of image formats that are well known and are also compatible with Adobe.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

The main reason I dislike Inkscape is that it doesn't allow me to export CorelDraw projects. I also consider its user interface to be unsightly.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I really like everything that can be done with Inkscape. This software offers you tools whereby for other programs you would have to pay 100 or more dollars a year in licensing.

 ### 34. SVG Application for illustrators

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dr. C. Michael S. | Research Coach, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

What I like best is that InkScape is for producing the purest SVG images. Since I work with various applications that import svg images, I have discovered that even Illustrator does not export SVG images without extra code that interferes with importing.
Being a FREE application doesn't hurt either - that is definitely a plus. Lastly, it isn't complex as some other application when it comes to using it. Of course, this usually means fewer tools, but I am able to use it as it is.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I dislike that InkScape's installation acts as a stand-alone versus part of my computer. This has been frustrating because I will install, then have a virtual installation disk on my desktop and when I delete it, the application is gone also.
As I stated in the things I like, it is very simple. There are times I want to accomplish a task and find that I spend more time figuring out how to do so with this application versus just having the tools in front of me.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

If you are not used to vector applications, you will need to review some videos online to get started. Don't allow yourself to get too frustrated, it has a learning curve, but is well worth it - especially for a free application.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My primary use of InkSkape at this time is to convert pngs to SVGs in order to import them for 3D manipulating - then print the completed model. It has been the perfect solution for these steps that are required to to prior to the exporting .stl files for 3D Printing.

Inkscape is free and open source, and that's the reason I like it the most.

The user interface is clean and elegant.

Inkscape has many useful features like the pencil for freehand drawing or the measurement tool.

Another reason why this software seems like a great tool to me is because it supports different formats like .ai or .cdr.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

I would like there to be a cloud-based platform to store my designs and also to collaborate with my colleagues.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

You can really use Inkscape to make professional designs. I use it to make logos and business cards. It is a completely free tool and easy to install. I recommend it.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape adds a lot of value to my work because it is an application that allows me to design graphic vectors easily. The best part is that its license is completely free and open-source. On the other hand, it's great that it is compatible with different formats, so I can open my projects from Illustrator or CorelDRAW.

 ### 38. Still learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kurtina M. | Sales Representative, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I love how I’m able to use this application to create and customize designs! I also love that it can deconstruct images by shapes and colors to make svg files and vector designs

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Some of the button labels are rather small to read. Which in turn makes it a struggle to understand using the program.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I would recommend it if you are wanting to use this application to create and customize designs And deconstruct images by shapes and colors to make svg files and vector designs

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Layering letters vectors and colors customized.

 ### 39. My vector go-to app in a pinch

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David B. M. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2016

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

The interface is intuitive and functional. Tools are accessible and efficient. The output has been useful in every case. The ability to create custom strokes allows the generation of very organic brush strokes. The use of templates lets the user create a document that includes all of the necessary components to compose consistent artwork.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

It's not that the functionality of Inkscape is complex, but the interface has a steep learning curve in order for the application to become efficient. I'm not a fan of the color palette at the bottom of the window. It would be nice if the buttons that call up the layer and other palettes would act as switches and close them also.

I use a Wacom pressure sensitive tablet and Inkscape does not seem to perform well in the pressure sensitive area. Users can mimic pressure sensitivity through the use of custom brushes, but it is limited and the process is somewhat cumbersome if a user wants a variety of brushes in one illustration.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Use it and give it a chance. It will do the job.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape is a very good logo design tool. The trace tool is very controllable and allows me to fine tune and adjust tracings. I have used it to create and manipulate logos, trace poor logos and then generate hi-res logos for clients, and I am currently working on a process by which I can create a vector-based comic strip that a friend and I have created.

Inkscape has benefited the bottom line of my business by not taxing my limited resources. It is a must for small graphic arts businesses.

 ### 40. Inkscape is powerful software for graphic design. Free and simplistic

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sharon F. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Inkscape makes it easy to create high quality layouts as it has wonderful built-in printing and colors tools. It is a software that is constantly updated, which is an advantage. Another feature I like is that it doesn't consume as many GPU resources and runs fast with no hassles. The best thing is that it has a very light GUI.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Sometimes I have tried to undo many changes to images and Inkscape does not restore all the modifications made.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I highly recommend Inkscape because I have used it for some time and I consider it a very complete graphic design tool. Take advantage that you can download it for free.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inkscape is a tool where I can easily create banners and logos for our real estate agency for free. The best thing is that I can export the graphic vectors to PNG formats.

 ### 41. Perfect freeware illustrator for those who need to design only once in a while a nice illustration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Being a freeware it seems to have all the tools that I need.
Node editing, layers, and all other standard illustrator tools seem to be available. Any professional illustrator software file that I ever received was at least importable into Inkscape. For me personally a lifesaver when I or one of my colleagues needed a scaled version of one of our professional designs. Scale Vector Graphics can be scaled in almost any size without losing sharpness. Then a simple export to .png in the desired size and our professional illustrators don't have to be bothered for a simple rescaling of their 'old' work :)

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

It can be a steep learning curve, but all information is online available. Got to look for it sometimes :)

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For online training, we need sometimes a nice illustration. Free stock images do not always fit the need, and commercial ones don't always fit the budget.

 ### 42. The essential SVG tool for your PC when illustrator is not within your reach

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah F. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Being surrounded by technology translates into transforming my work to what the current world demands, I would like to be able to carry my professional computer at all times, however it is not always possible, sometimes I have to depend on other tools, for example my surface tablet.
The issue is that Illustrator needs more resources than what my surface has, although Inkscape does not allow me to create a file with the same characteristics as Adobe; it's usually capable of making last minute modifications, and it does not really matter that at that moment I am on a flight or taking a cafe, Inkscape works great with the resources of my tablet, and therefore helps me to do deliveries on time without needing to reach my Work PC.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

What I do not like are the limitations that it has in comparison with Adobe Ilustrator, specifically not being able to have multiple work tables in a single composition, this really tends to complicate a lot of creating designs in a uniform way.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

It's a great software when you need fast SVG edits and illustrator it’s not available.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sometimes my job asks me to travel constantly and therefore I cannot have the most optimal work space that allows me to fulfill all the small requests received daily.
Inkscape becames my main weapon to fix those “details” that are urgently needed. For those I don't have to go back to the office.

 ### 43. Inkscape is a free vector graphics creation software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darwin R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

Inkscape allows you to create images and vectors in a simple format. The main advantage of using this software is that it is completely free and works on different operating systems. Another feature that I like. It has a really simple measurement tool that meets its purpose. I also like their filters for colors or to give effects to images.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

The appearance of the Inkscape user interface is not modern. I would like the tools to be better organized on the screen, since sometimes I find it difficult to find the options I need for editing.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

It is free software that will help you design and draw vector graphics at no cost. I recommend it, especially to beginning users who are taking their first steps.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Inkscape to create content images or logos for our website. This software has filters and effects for images that provide professional editing at no cost, so I consider this to be the greatest benefit. Also, it is light software, so you don't have to worry about having your computer have powerful resources.

 ### 47. Free vector software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisah A. | Software developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

I appreciate its ease of use and lightweight performance. I like its clean and simple style, too. This is a huge advantage over the giants and their prohibitive costs, provided that it is free and legal under the GNU GPL. I'm perfectly suited for Inkscape with basic needs in graphic design. There should also be consideration of the amount of tutorials and free resources on the platform as its broad, open source support community is an important advantage. For eg, you can follow some free tutorials on youtube to learn how to draw some cool things such as flat icons or comic characters to help you visualize your dreams. You can also use the Inkscape official learning guide full of free tools for beginners and experts.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

It's a little hard to manage the program first. But it becomes a very strong artistic device once accustomed. We also want to see more new features. It is indeed late compared to competitors often, and regular updates are available to solve problems with bugs and protection, but only to introduce new functionality. We want a slightly nicer gui as well. With this open-source software, its presence may be somewhat redundant. That wouldn't kill its user convenience and ergonomics, but make it much better. Good point: thanks to their open source code and their usability, we can find skins that can easily change it on the net for adventurers that want to customize it to the full

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

Inkscape is the way to create and format vector images, I strongly recommend it to those who are searching for a solution like that

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I often have to edit pictures as a creator. Inkscape helps me to create simple forms, edit vector templates that I can incorporate into my websites without resizing. I also need some icons to createor.svg, very handy for my pages and inkscape. I'm not a drawer or any designer, but it's easy to use when you're taking the time to learn the basics. This enables me to restore or even replicate low quality logos, or to quickly create unique icons that have very little drawing experience.

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

It's free to use, and offers mostly comparable features to Illustrator.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Frustrating, unintuitive interface.
Doesn't support .eps files.
Hard to execute certain features that were easy to do in other software.
Text feature doesn't recognize majority of my TrueType or Google fonts.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

If it is your first time using it, be patient. the interface for many of the features is not like Illustrator, so you might find it harder to do things that came easily in Illustrator. You can still do them, though, just be prepared to access the community for advice a lot. There are many tutorials online on how to get Inkscape to do the stuff that Illustrator does, so look over what you need.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Due to financial issues, I cannot afford many of the top Vector software, so Inkscape is my go-to program for logo and vector graphic creation. I create my vectors and then export them as either PDFs or JPGs for use in other applications. I basically use it for almost everything.

 ### 49. A graphic Vector program, free, good design and easy to use.

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

This graphics editing tool allows you to design, edit, draw in 2D with good quality. It is compatible for different platforms, allowing everyone to access it. Its use has no cost, it is full of very good tools such as bitmap tracking, Drawing Tools, shape, calligraphy, pencil. You can use different files in various types of formats, such as bmp, jpg, eps, tif and others.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

Since its platform is totally free, few are the things that I personally dislike because it is a requirement for a multifunctional tool, in some cases it is usually heavy due to the amount of options that are around the worksheet something that can be annoying , but in a matter of minutes it returns to normal. It would be very much that the regular updates can add some modification to that error.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

My recommendation goes to all those who wish to have a tool to edit, at no cost Inkscape is the ideal, it will not give you problems and you can take advantage, even if you are inexperienced. They will give you very good results.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am honestly not an expert in the field of design, editing or anything like that. But it has helped me to edit Pdf files when I need it, it has also allowed me to make prototypes of how I want the presentation of a software so that the person in charge of the matter will come and carry out my initial idea.

 ### 50. An excellent editor, totally free and easy to use this is Inskcape.

**What do you like best about Inkscape?**

The first thing I like is its open code, which is totally free is its main benefit since all who wish can have us without any problem, it is simple to use ideal to take the first steps in the design and edition. Its ability to convert bitmap images into vectors is very good, it has multiple tools with as many functions as possible, it can be used in any operating system that one has. It has given me very good results with quality.

**What do you dislike about Inkscape?**

As its interface is full of a number of tools to use, at first it can be intimidating or seem like total chaos, but it's just a matter of adapting to it and getting to know it. In some cases the application may become somewhat slow but only in remote cases, nothing that with a little patience should not be solved. To make a free program seems perfect.

**Recommendations to others considering Inkscape:**

I recommend using Inkscape as your reliable, easy-to-use editor and designer, totally free and with recurring updates. They give you quality results. It doesn't matter if you are starting or if you already have years in the branch is a very good option.

**What problems is Inkscape solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is my base editor, in the world of design you always need a variety of tools that allow you to capture everything your imagination creates, Inskcape has helped me to achieve it. There are jobs that need your editor to be simple and have everything at hand, especially those lightning jobs that you need to do as quickly as possible. It has been a very satisfying experience.
