Birst is installed with many default functions, such as automated Year to Month to Week to Day calculations, trend charting and data modeling. Nice way to get things going quickly for any size project. The Visualizer built tool recently underwent a rewrite and is very flexible; more so than in the past.

Building out our data model is presented in a nice visual. Easy to use and manage.

Birst has added a new tool designed for power business users. It is ideal for department level data analytics. The tool allows for internal Data Lake tables ro be assigned for use to a power user in conjunction with external data sources. The UI is easy to use if the power user understands linking table and provides access to the Visualizer tool for report creation.

The Visualizer tool provides is comparable to most other BI tools. It does allow for custom coding within a Dashlet (object on a Dashboard). It also allows for use of D3 objects is we are trying to deliver an exciting visual for Marketing or Sales.

The Notification function is used extensively by our user base. Many times the users want a report or visual in email; and Birst has robust notification system.

Standard functions for authentication are easy to integrate.

Birst's presentation layer can be slow if you are displaying a considerable amount of data or are using multiple languages. The new version has address most of this with the redesign of the back-end.

Visualizer is not a pixel perfect report writer, but has been moving in this direction for more than a year. The promise is we will have this by Q4, 2020.

Another work in process is dynamic presentation regardless of display size. This has gotten better, but (again) we have been promised a responsive design by the end of the year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's stable and reliable, can handle huge volumes of data with incremental data upload. It looks pretty simple and friendly for report consumers, no matter how complex the data model behind the scene. It's getting better and better with every new release. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don't like the situation when something got broken because of 3rd parties tools and it takes ages to fix it. E.g. excel attachments come broken in Birst notification because Mimecast checks and 'fixes' them. It happened only with Birst attachments. For 2 months we cannot use Birst reports in Excel format. I don't see why in the situation like this Birst engineering cannot talk to Mimecast specialists to fix the issue. Fortunately, problems like this happen not very often. My company has been using Birst for a little over a year now and we really find their ETL, warehouse integration and reporting features very useful and compatible to a lot of the other tools we are working with. The dashboard functionalities are very helpful to not only our clients but our company as well. During our time using the tool, we have noticed that the time to process the data is rather inconsistent. Sometimes it is quick and sometimes it takes almost a full day. I also think better user guides and training documentation could be helpful for admins and end users while first getting started. It is an ok tool for very simple visualizations and calculations. The opening speed of visualizations is very good. That's maybe the only one thing I liked about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I worked with Birst more than two years in total. The journey was full with advanced BI development items that the Birst tool was not able to do. The back-end of the tool was very heavy, complicated and required long reloading time to get things fixed. The tool lacked dynamic and on-the-fly aggregation features. The tool often gave error messages without any guidance on how to move forward. Birst support was not helpful. Instead of fixing a bug in the software, once they offered me to live with a workaround. I could continue with this list of issues with Birst...

At first the product is very complex, but it's natural because it has some overwhelming functions. Often the user interface is often interrupted when filters are added that also leads users to assume that it is really bad, just wait a few seconds and that's it. Birst offers its users a lot of power and flexibility. I've made 100+ reports in Birst so far. I've made many many ETL changed as well. And I occasionally discover something new.
