The platform addresses the specific attack vectors that existing identity and security controls structurally cannot reach: help desk vishing, hiring fraud, and shadow workforce infiltration. Most identity security tools are built around the authentication event. imper.ai is built around everything attackers do before and around authentication. When Scattered Spider called MGM's IT help desk, impersonated an employee found on LinkedIn, and social-engineered a password reset, no authentication control was in position to stop it. The attacker never attempted to log in. They called. imper.ai is built for that attack. The platform combines two detection layers that no competitor currently combines. The first is an Impersonation Detection Engine that inspects the infrastructure the attacker must operate from: device characteristics, network routing, session environment signals including VPN usage, remote access tooling, virtualization artifacts, and geographic anomalies. This is not behavioral analytics applied after the fact. It is environment inspection at the moment of the workforce interaction. The second layer is AI-driven contextual verification that confirms whether the person in the interaction has actual familiarity with their role, their organization, and their work context. Identity documents and biometrics confirm who someone claims to be. Work-familiarity verification confirms whether they actually do the job. imper.ai does not use ID documents, selfies, or biometric enrollment. No friction for legitimate employees. No PII collection from the workforce. The verification runs inside existing workflows through integrations with ServiceNow, Microsoft Entra, Okta, Workday, and Greenhouse. The platform covers three use cases. For IT help desk and account recovery workflows, imper.ai runs verification before a password reset or MFA re-enrollment is processed, closing the social engineering entry point that Scattered Spider, UNC3944, and similar threat actors exploit. For hiring and pre-employment screening, imper.ai detects proxy candidates, coached interviews, and attacker-controlled infrastructure at every touchpoint in the hiring process, including the DPRK IT worker tradecraft documented in imper.ai's own Q1 2026 threat research. For continuous workforce monitoring, imper.ai surfaces shadow workforce signals across active employees and contractors. imper.ai is backed by Redpoint Ventures and Battery Ventures.
