"Good for amateur video editing but with little flexibility"
3/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

I like the templates that can be selected to frame the entire video, from start to finish. They make it look fun, and people are surprised because it makes it look good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

What I like least is the lack of flexibility in the resources that can be carried out. On the other hand, I love the templates but after making several videos they start to repeat themselves, that is, there are few templates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Bring out the filmmaker in you with iMovie!"
5/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

For both novices and experts in video editing, iMovie is a popular choice thanks to its user-friendly interface, robust editing features, and seamless connection with Apple devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

First of all, it is only available for Apple devices which makes it of no use to non-Apple users. I feel it has limited advanced features for professional video editing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great way to learn basics of editing"
4/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

You can pick up the basics of editing very quickly with lots of easy to use templates. Its a great way to learn and progress to more advanced software such as Final Cut or Adobe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

Its limited to basic colour and audio correction which is fine for personal projects or simple edits but its more limited for professional longer edits. There are a lack of plugins/add-ons. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Anyone can be a filmmaker"
3.5/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

I like how easy it is to drag and drop any file on your computer and make it part of a moving, cinematic experience. I use it for home movies all the time: to make video diaries of vacations we've taken or parties that we've had. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

I find you really have to lean into the templates and the default fonts, etc - thereby making every iMovie movie LOOK like it was made on iMovie... either that or you have to be a more sophisticated filmmaker than I am in order to customize. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best tool for video editing beginners"
5/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

First off that is free and comes with my mac, and then that's pretty easy to use and intuitive, learning how to use it felt really ease and it comes everything you need to edit videos Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

Probably that you cannot use multiple layers like in other more sophisticated editing software,to mix more videos and photos and text but for simple video editing it does the work Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy video maker"
5/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

iMovie is a super easy to use video creation software. You can simply drag and drop videos and images, create movement, add effects and transitions, and edit audio. I use it to create short videos and it takes no time at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

Sometimes splitting the clip affects the audio and it can be hard to get it just right. Editing the audio could be a bit more user-friendly. Everything else works well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy, convenient and free. Can't go wrong for simple videos"
3.5/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

It's included with your Mar or iOS device, so it's "free"... In Mac, it's a fairly decent editor, if your expectations about trimming and composition aren`t too high. In mobile phone does a decent job, and the edition, although a bit complicated as the screen is small, is practical and works fine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

Templates and effects are a bit "dated", and obviously focused in "personal projects".

Among that, if you have tried Premiere Pro's latest "toys" or are an Avid or Final Cut Pro user, you'll see it's a VERY different product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to Use"
5/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

I love how easy it is to use and understand. The transition dissolves, titles and even picture and pictures, absolutely wonderful. iMovie makes it fun to edit and get creative. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

Maybe that it does not have enough effects, dissolves or editing tools as much as Final Cut does. But still, I truly appreciate iMovie because it gets the job done quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to use video editing software for beginners with little to no experience."
5/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

The ease of use, user-friendliness, so many existing soundbites, visual effects & transitions to choose from - it's more than you would ever need to start off with! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

Editing the titles & text on screen can sometimes be a task, text placement can often be different post-processing, size of the font & even font itself can change - this could be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best editor on phones."
4/5
What do you like best about iMovie?

iMovie shines best when used on mobile devices. It's a simple tool, which isn't a bad thing when you need a quick edit on the field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about iMovie?

It has many limitations. If you're used to more robust editors like Premiere Pro or Resolve, it'll take some getting used to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
