## iMovie Reviews
 ### 1. This is great for basic video editing.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darla A. | Freelance Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I like the drag and drop features and that it's a very intuitive program for the most part. I like being able to split files up and extract them for shorter videos. I also enjoy several of the intros.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Some tasks like fading audio are not easy to figure out. I've had to Google several features.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

I would recommend taking a few tutorials for anything beyond the basics, but for what most users will need it for, iMovie is streamlined and simple to figure out. This is especially really good software for adding audio to photo slideshows or video clips. However, for advanced features, I'd recommend a short course on the subject.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I manage a few Facebook pages that focus on very short videos of pre-existing clips. This has helped me make it fairly streamlined and easy to go.

 ### 2. Video Editing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Individual & Family Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2018

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

Great platform to edit videos, built in to your Mac, convenient to use

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Crashing often with longer projects, and uploading/importing media can take a long time

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

iMovie can export project in multiple formats, that can easily be converted to others that might not be offered in the software itself

 ### 3. Easy Video Editing Softward

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I love the easiness of iMovie! I don't dabble in video too much, but when I do, I use iMovie to get fast, easy results.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I dislike how it has it's own internal drive where is saves videos and it's hard to find them outside of using the program.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

If you are a first time video editor, you should consider using this program to get you started. It has many presets that will help you create any kind of video!

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use iMovie for recruitment and promotional videos.

 ### 4. Slight learning curve to get started, but works well

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason K. | Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

Even for a newbie it can help clean up and make even the most roughly shot videos somewhat normal.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Slight learning curve, but Google is a useful resource.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It really helps with low quality video production for items shot via iPhone. Wouldn't recommend it for professional level work, but could be my lack of experience.

 ### 5. Easy use for beginners

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

The best quality is the ease of use. Ive never made anything related to movies outside of a slide show. I could even add a video clip with pictures and music in the background.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I dislike how its limited to two video tracks. There are also limited output controls.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are gaining a closer relationship with partners around the world. They prefer to see our faces and have something interactive to look at over a letter we send via email.

 ### 6. Great video editor

 ### 8. iMovie review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

The best part is that while you are using it, you can see the progress you are making, and that makes it very fun to work with.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

The worst part is the power it requires from the computer and the memory it uses in case the video you are editing is very long.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

iMovie allows you to work with presentations where it is not necessary to speak while watching, as the information can be in the video itself.

 ### 9. IMovie has been a great option for years

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

Love how easy it is to use, very intuitive and user-friendly interface.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Not a ton of "free" background music (or a variety) - everything tends to sound the same after a while so you eventually have to search for something new.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we are doing short videos to use on social media and internally. We have a videographer on staff who does our long-form films, but our design team uses iMovie for short videos for specific audiences and those with a quicker turnaround.

 ### 11. iMovie is a great tool for beginners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Relations and Communications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

iMovie is super easy to use and very intuitive. I have no formal training but have been able to do a lot of high-end editing on casual projects. I also love the mobile app which is completely consistent with the desktop version.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Unfortunately there are some features that are either missing or are difficult to find. Things like zooming in or cropping just a portion of a video - while this is likely available, I've had a hard time figuring out how to do it.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been able to offer my editing skills to my employers over the years for internal projects.

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

Once I learned how to use Imovie, I loved how quickly I could edit and create videos for youtube

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I struggle to delete all files as they are in "hidden" folders on a mac and can take up a lot of unnecessary space

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

If you are wanting to dive into iMovie, take the time to learn it. Watch videos and practice and experiment. You'll get the hang of it over time

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connecting with my community in via video

It comes with the Mac computer and automatically uploads your pictures/movies. It is very easy to create, simple drag and drop. Also, I could download the file and share easily.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Needs more bells and whistles, like transitions and suggested music selection instead of browsing on iTunes.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Are upgrades considered in the near future?

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating videos for conferences to lighten the mood and give a break from PowerPoint.

 ### 15. Simple video editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Javier L. | Graduate Assistant, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2018

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

Good video editor for novice video editing. You can google and youtube tutorials and manage neat tricks

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

It needs more features, like adding multiple images in single shots.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

 ### 16. Great & Easy To Use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carly L. | Senior Manager, Influencer & PR, Consumer Goods, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

It's simple, easy to use & easy to teach to others. You can almost teach yourself anything you want to do. You can easily add music, photos, video clips, and create movies with them. You can also edit clips, change sound, add sound clips over your files, and merge them together. It's a simple solution for making high grade movies for all sorts of promos, marketing, events, and social platforms. We can also speed up the videos to make tutorials shorter for Instagram etc.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

You have to save a new project every time you create a video. If you shorten a video clip, it automatically saves all the edits instead of creating 2 separate videos with no "save as" option. If you need to shorten a video or make changes to another that you want to keep, you have to start over. It takes a lot of work to figure out more advanced settings for editing & the visual tools are somewhat limited. You might need to use extra software for advanced graphics.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Great product. Easy to use for basic video creating, sound clips, editing other videos, or making videos of multiple media types.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't have to hire a videographer or editor to create content for social media. It's so simple to use that we can do it in house & save the cost of a pro. It's a tool that we can use for all types of events, marketing, retail partners, and more. We can also use it to clip videos from other people who promote our brands, youtube videos, etc. and shorten videos to make them accessible on our website or retail websites.

 ### 17. No experience needed. An understanding of software is all you need.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

This program has really helped me in a bind many times. I didn't watch any tutorials, I went in and kind of explored on my own and learned while I use it. (That's my style with a lot of programs, but I'm sure there a million youtube videos to get started). I love the ease of use, especially for not knowing any other video programs. I'm at my core an Adobe Creative Suite user, and this works seamlessly with that.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I think there are lack of effects (filter, transitions, text effects). I always start with a blank canvas (not a pre-installed video template) It's easier. I import from either Photoshop or Illustrator for elements beyond the videos you can easily add to your media gallery.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Try it! If you're a designer in advertising that wants to get into making short commercials/ ads/homepage videos... this is a great and FREE way (if you have a mac and it is pre-installed. This is perfect)

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used iMovie to create YouTube pre-roll videos for clients. Around 1min max. They came out exceptionally beautiful and powerful. With these, especially, I was surprised by the ease of incorporating a lot of different short clips, transitions, and an audio track.

 ### 18. Free and sufficient for quick editing needs

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

It's free with the Mac OS and can meet most basic editing needs (splicing, stringing clips together, overlaying music, etc.) but isn't super intuitive and wouldn't be good for advanced editing that requires more cuts / transitions / etc.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

It's limited in what you can do and cutting clips isn't as intuitive as it should be.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick and easy for creating internal videos that are short or editing recorded video playbacks.

 ### 19. Easy to learn, hard to master

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Events Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

the different themes
easy to use for simple video

Some missing features like color correction

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

If you've got an iMac iMovie is the ideal movie creator for you !

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With IMovie i can easily and fastly create and edit movie for youtube

 ### 20. Excellent program for beginners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I was able to teach myself how to use this program with minimal tutorials. And when I do need to learn an advanced technique, there's an informal online community of fellow users who make free tutorial videos.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I occasionally have trouble with space on my computer to store video projects - the files can be quite large.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

This program is one of the primary reasons I keep a Mac computer.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This program is the easiest I've found for video editing.

 ### 21. Make Videos With Ease Using iMovie

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

It is very user friendly! Anybody can make a professional movie using this software.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

The interface could be better. Some formatting options are hard to find.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Always marketing for my husband's softball team using clips from practice and games. I upload these movies to YouTube for prospective players and their parents to view.

 ### 22. Pretty much does everything you need - quickly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Debi P. | VP, Marketing & Communications, Sports, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

There is a lot of functionality built into iMovie at a fraction of the cost of many other editing programs. It's simple enough to edit slick looking pieces very quickly. You can adjust the picture, use titles, edit audio and video separately, use green screen and several other effects. I have friends in the television industry who find that iMovie is all they really need to get straight-forward productions completed quickly. I've had the same experience as a freelancer using video shot on DSLRs, handycams, phones, sports cameras and professional video cameras. iMovie will handle many video and audio file types for pretty much any need. It's been my go-to for years, after confronting the learning curve of the much more expensive editing software systems.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

You are limited in the graphics you can use and iMovie doesn't always play nice with automated uploads to services such as YouTube or Facebook. If you need more specialized graphics or animated type effect, you won't get that with iMovie. There are several automated graphics options in iMovie, but I find them limiting, and don't use them much. Unless I'm missing something (and I've searched) the latest version of iMovie (purple) also appears to have eliminated the ability to export clips in multiple video formats in favor of .mov only. This is becoming a problem, so I switched back to the previous iMovie version (yellow) The naming protocols are confusing, so I'm not using them.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

It's great bang for the buck, but be aware of the limitations. As for upgrading to the latest versions, so far that's not been optimal. I've reverted back to the yellow version because the latest (purple) takes me longer, is less intuitive and is missing features, most notably, the ability to export in different formats. It's been simplified to meet a broader audience, so if you're new to iMovie, you won't notice the difference. But if you've been using it since the early days, you'll know that it's becoming less versatile all the time. Once this version is no longer supported on my iOS/OSX systems, I may have to spend more $$ on Final Cut or finally learn how to use Adobe Premier Pro - both of which has much steeper learning curves, which do not have the time for right now.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can edit videos quickly on mobile and desktop and upload them immediately. That has reduced production time, backlog and delays, thereby boosting my efficiency enormously. I do a lot of social media work, and being able to use iMovie on any of my devices has significantly enhanced my productivity without having to give up the effects, audio or other features.

 ### 23. Easy but not the best

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Becca Mae M. | Independent Beauty Consultant, Cosmetics, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

Very simple to use and you hardly need to learn to use it. It's just that simple to use.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I wish it wasn't as "hokey", like the transitions and font styles are very copy/paste. It's a good beginner for video editing I guess, just obviously not for professional work.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

It's not a horrible program, I would just recommend this for personal use rather than professional use. That is unless they make more updates.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Was best used for inserts in simple presentations.

 ### 24. It walks you through it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

iMovie has a great option for making short videos like a trailer for a movie, where it walks you through every step of the way: background music, what images to include where, even easy-to-choose and easy-to-use templates. I have found that it is intuitive for my students more than many similar apps are.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

If you haven't had a basic introduction to it, it can be pretty overwhelming the first time you try to use it and figure out what options are available and where.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Look for an in-person or online walkthrough first.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a teacher, I use iMovie as a way for my students to show what they have learned. Even the most camera shy student can make a video with iMovie, as it has options which allow you to make an interesting and informative video without ever needing to show your face or record your voice aloud.

 ### 25. iMovie rocks!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Creative Director, Telecommunications, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

This is Mac only, FinalCut Pro lite. iMovie comes bundled with all new Macs and updates remain free of charge. This is easy to use and efficient software for making home and professional movies. iMovie is aimed at novice users, but contains many pro-level features such as colour balance, colour correction, sound balance, cropping and video stabilization. it is all most people need for video editing.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

iMovie has seen some revisions that have dropped features from previous version, but have then been brought back in subsequent versions. A complete re-write of iMovie was released a few versions ago that replaced iMovie HD. I would like to see optical disk authoring of some form brought back for DVD and Blu-ray projects.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Have lots of drive space available for raw video footage. Macs with a solid state hard drive will be much faster at using iMovie for video creation and export.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

iMovie lets me create professional quality product and service videos, as well showcasing accomplishments of some of our team and customers.

 ### 26. iMovie for YouTube

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Being able to edit videos.

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I liked how easy it was to navigate and use

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

More options for being able to make it creative

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps with making projects visual and easy to understand

 ### 28. Great for Beginners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harry S. | Freelancer, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2016

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

Easy to learn for users just starting out, Has a nice interface and plays well with other Apple preinstalled software many publishing options available great templates for quick projects and many many title templates and photo display options among the best Chromakeying I've seen in ANY PRODUCT

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

With the ease of use comes a lack of more professional features also no cross platform use for windows Professional level users will be left asking for more Sometimes you have to export a file in the middle of a project to get what you want like you can't combine a chromakey and a cutaway without doing the key first then importing the exported file back into imovie and continuing with your project

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Great for Beginners or people who are new to editing and can put out awesome content easily but anyone who has used any other editing product with be left wanting more

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to teach someone out of the gate someone can be creating a project within hours of first using the software We start students on iMovie then move them on to more professional editing applications but it is a great starting step to gain the basics and fundamentals

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I like that there are templates that can help organize multiple videos and give them a common theme. There are many other features that are helpful, such as being able to cut, copy, and paste various clips of a larger movie with relative ease.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I dislike the "project" system. What I mean is that when a movie that is in-process is saved, it is saved as a new "project". The word doesn't bother me, but once I save the project I have a hard time finding it again. Sometimes, there are media items that need to be re-imported to be used again.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Find a friend that has a Mac and try it out. Usually, it is included with a new Mac computer purchase, so why not try before you buy? If it has the features you want, great! If not, buy something a bit more serious, like Final Cut Pro.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This product allows me to make a video of myself and send it in when I am either not feeling well or not available. The alternative to this would be finding and paying a substitute for my position, which is neither easy or cost effective.

 ### 30. Great Tool for Photo Slideshows!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren J. | Owner/Photographer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I love the ease of use and the ability to easily sync music and images. I also love the ability to upload easily to Vimeo and YouTube with keywords and titles.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I dislike the way I have to double-click each image to drag it down to the timeline area. Many times, I've only clicked once and it tries to select all the images instead.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

This is a great tool for photographers and beginning film makers. Very user-friendly and creates beautiful, professional-looking videos and slideshows. Adding music is simple and you can easily sync your music with your images. Creating transitions for your entire slideshow at once is easy, which is such a time save for me! Importing and exporting is extremely easy and intuitive - it even includes adding keywords to uploads to Vimeo and YouTube which can help your video be found in a search. I highly recommend this software to anyone in need of a product like this.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to create beautiful, professional-looking slideshows for my photography clients. They love them and it's been a great marketing tool when they share them online.

 ### 31. Video editing for Community Managers with zero time

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrés S. | Director, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

It is very useful and easy-to-use, once you understand how it works. Importing, clipping and adding sound are friendly features, and if you are used to working with Macs or iOS, you will master it in no time.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Its limitations. You cannot add more than 2 layers of objects (pictures or other movies) in one single frame, and the trailer option is very much like a black box.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Think of it as learning how to use layers to edit a picture on Paint, but keep your eyes on moving forward to Photoshop.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In Social Media, you have to be able to produce and edit videos with ease, and without spending too much time in it. With iMovie, you are capable of doing that and more, even uploading directly to your YouTube channel.

 ### 32. iMovie Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

This tool makes any video you take on your phone so much better. What you can do with just a 10 sec video is amazing.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I found it a little confusing in some aspects.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can take something i might want to use for the business and use it for marketing.

 ### 33. Good for decent

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Electronics | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

The program is fairly easy to use and user friendly.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I dislike the flexibility of the program. All iMovie videos end up looking the same

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Use for basic video editing needs

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Short advertisements coupled with Text and sound

 ### 34. Simple Video editing

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roberto T. | Lead Artist, E-Learning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

The software is very easy to interact with. It is very intuitive and probably anybody who opens iMovie understand what to do in order to create a simple video.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

iMovie won't allow you to create professional video. It is a very simple software, which don't permit to obtain super amazing results.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used it to create basic and short videos. To achieve professional results you have to search for other softwares.

 ### 35. Easy to use - great starter program

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica M. | Marketing Director, Real Estate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

It's a nice starter program. It's good for beginners. Apple really simplified the editing process to make it easier for new users. It's also nice that it comes with the mac computer. You probably won't produce a major motion picture with it, but it will get the job done. It's perfect for a simple montage and quick and easy edits!

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

You can only do so much with the program. Eventually when your skills improve, you realize you need more control over certain items.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

If you are new and just getting started, this program is a great place to start! It will get your feet wet without spending a lot of money on a video program. If you have a mac, give it a try!

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Achieves basic editing on a budget

 ### 36. iMovie is easily accessible and perfect for beginners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon B. | Manager, Entertainment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I like that it is in an easy interface for any user. It doesn't take a lot of research or guidance to figure out how to use the program successfully. I am a beginner (and believe I always will be) so I can not speak to more advanced features of this program.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

sometimes the export files can be massive and are not easy to send, or the quality is too low

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Its a great software for the basics, its advanced features may be more helpful, but I haven't had to get as involved with those features so can not speak to them.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use them to edit videos for clients, often having to sew together files of different sizes and bit rates but iMovie handles it all very well.

 ### 37. iMovie is a User Friendly & Easy Way to Edit Video

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabe S. | Creative Director, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2016

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

The best part about iMovie is how easy it is to figure out. It is VERY user friendly. We have several employees at our company that use the software for products, and everyone has been able to pick it up fairly quickly and without trouble.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

It is limited in video and audio editing capabilities compared to other, more advanced, editing softwares. When trying to create a more polished video look, it is more difficult. Videos tend to look like templates.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

iMovie is a great option if you are looking to quickly edit simple videos. If you are wanting to edit and create more advanced videos, you should look into a more advanced software. However, higher end video editing softwares require a lot more training and experience. iMovie is very easy to learn and get started with.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are quickly editing simple videos for out clients. Videos are a great way to market your company and yourself.

 ### 38. Simple and easy to use, great software for beginners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jenny H. | Freelance Artist, Arts and Crafts, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

iMovie makes making videos super easy and streamlined. As someone who has used Adobe After Effects in the past to create videos, although iMovie doesn't compare to the sheer muscle of After Effect's capabilities, what iMovie does is just make it nice and simple to stitch together a video. It's great for a beginner who isn't looking to create the next blockbuster movie but wants to create a professional quality video.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I haven't found anything I dislike yet, it is so simple and intuitive to use and although more advanced video editors might find it limiting in its capabilities, I think for the general public it works great.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

As mentioned in earlier parts of my review, iMovie doesn't promise to be the be all and end all of video editing and if you're looking for professional grade then head on over to Adobe's After Effects. But if you're looking to put together a simple YouTube video tutorial for example then iMovie should stand you in good stead. It's very user friendly and intuitive making layering of video elements very straight forward. I honestly didn't take any tutorials on learning iMovie and just picked it up as I went along. So very straight forward.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was looking for a simple video editing software that would allow me to create professional quality tutorial style videos for my Skillshare classes. iMovie has allowed me to do just that and made the process very straightforward. Naturally it's time consuming clicking a video together and editing etc but the user friendly and intuitive control of iMovie have really kept it simple.

 ### 39. Easiest video editing software in existence!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron T. | Freelance Graphic Artist, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2016

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

This software comes included all Mac computers for free, but it is a software that many people would actually pay for separately. While it may not have the big price tag, it can compete in most areas with higher end web design software. It may not have all of the features some some of its counterparts, but it certainly can be a lot easier to use.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I often ran into issues organizing files in the timeline. It can be a bit difficult to line things up as I would like, but it just takes time and effort to get things perfect. This software has a lot less specific controls compared to it's more expensive counterparts.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

This software is definitely worth considering, as it is a free software included on all Mac computers. with the robust amount of features and templates already included, it is well worth giving it a shot to see if it meets your needs.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

iMovie is great for quick movie productions that don't need all the bells and whistles. It is a lot quicker to go through the workflow than with other softwares. Being able to export the final product to a file or upload directly to share not only makes the process easier, but also more fun and convenient which in turn makes you want to produce more movies.

 ### 40. Let's make a Video!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth H. | Customer service, Consumer Goods, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I love having the ability to present slide show videos of my photography. It is so beautiful being able to tie the photos together with music. iMovie does gets props for ease of use once you figure out how it works that is! LOL. I love how it is so much easier to use than other programs that I have attempted in the past.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Learning iMovie can be challenging. The layout is not "beginning user-friendly." I don't like the fact that the color correction for video clips isn't the easiest to use. In addition, I feel like they need to have more options when it comes overlapping pictures and a wider range of background choices.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Learn how to use it before attempting a slide show.
Watch different "how-to" videos
Make slideshow long enough to enjoy pictures
Don't make your video too long- you want people to want to watch it until the end
Always include some music

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to quickly edit my video footage.
it is a benefit that iMovie connects easily with GarageBand, Itunes & iphoto.

 ### 41. Go to a free Apple teacher training - iMovie does more than meets the eye!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

It's easy to learn and straight-forward to use.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

All the options aren't obvious at first.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

It's a free download on the app store. There is free training available. The iPad and iPhone versions have an easy learning curve. With a few tips, it's easy to use independently.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Letting students create their own movies on class topics.

 ### 42. Fun and easy!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I usually use iMovie when I want to create a fun video introducing vocabulary for my Spanish classes. I love that there are different themes to choose from and that with very little experience with the program I can compile clips, photos, and music to create a very good video.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

What I dislike about the iMovie program is that some times it takes a long time to figure out different ways to improve the movies I am working on.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

iMovie is a great tool for any person who works in education. So far I have received very good feedback from my students, especially when I introduce new Spanish vocabulary in a fun short video. Using videos allows for students to hear, see, and then put into practice.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use iMovie to teach different Spanish language concepts. I like to have engaging and fun representations for learning.

 ### 43. Good for fast, marketing videos with little to no imagination

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erick S. | Partner, Chief Strategist, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

Templates make it easy to create quick movies for a variety of purposes - both personal and professional. An included library of transitions, music, sound effects and backgrounds makes it a useful tool for quick editing, especially if you don't know your way around more professional tools like Premiere or Final Cut.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Like many Apple products, iMovie is built for the lowest common denominator. There are advanced features that allow you to take a bit more control of video and audio, but it's still largely limited.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

There are many tools out there for video editing - for mac users, iMovie is arguably the easiest. If you are a prosumer looking for greater control of video and audio editing - multiple video and audio and the ability to fine tune control, look at Premiere or Final Cut. There are also an increasing array of web apps available for video creation, including animation videos for how-to's and explainers that can make life even easier.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Marketing videos that need to be produced quickly and with little to no budget are easy to create with video from nearly any source - mobile phones, laptop cameras or handheld camcorders.

 ### 44. Small Learning Curve Good Results

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fine Art | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

This program has a lot of features to manipulate, sound, picture can cut and paste photos and videos. I enjoy making little clips of different events or trips we go on. I'm also being trained for videographer for another company in the area at this time and hope to use it more, and get a more professional vision and use of the product. So far I'm self taught.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

After upgrading to the latest version - many things have changed places or look. It has taken me a while to adjust to the new features, but still like the product. Does a great job. Intro - main - and closing.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

Learning Curve, but doable. Makes Great Movies. There are other free options out there. This one is nice and has a lot of features. You get what you pay for in a lot of ways.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Make good videos of different experiences to post on social media. Make long experiences short for others to enjoy in a moment. The people who are training me I will be using video and editing to help with advertising and event capture. This will help get what they are doing out to the masses. Hopefully others will see the videos and can be lead to join or be inspired by the movies.

 ### 45. iMovie Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I like that it is so easy to use. I can create iMovies for my projects that I use in my classroom. Helps the students get a visual on what to do.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Sometimes there are compatibility issues between different devices. Definitely easier to use on a computer vs a handheld device.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

This is a great program. It allows students to interact with materials in a new, engaging way.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My students can learn without me giving whole group instruction or being right next to them.

 ### 46. Easy to use video editing software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dave B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2016

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

iMovie is very easy to use. I have used both iMovie and Adobe Premier, both without any prior knowledge of video editing or background on the software. iMovie was by far easier to figure out and use.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Sometimes finding some features can take some searching for. It also takes a little while to export the finished video from the library to your files.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

iMovie is an easy to use program and delivers great results. It offers a good amount of features and effects and is very user friendly.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used this software to create some promotional videos for our company and to create short commercials. It's easy to stitch multiple videos together, add audio, separate the audio from the video recording, and add effects. iMovie delivers great results that I had no problem using to represent our company and brand.

 ### 47. Fairly intuitive, but also can be limiting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

That it gets the job done, and it didn't take a lot of being around to get t know how to do special things.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

The special things are a bit old and lacking, if you're looking for something more cutting edge then it might be best to look elsewhere.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

It's good for beginners and to jean the basics of media production. Not a bad product by any means.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making creative multimedia to get more attention and ferrite audience.

 ### 48. Simple interface makes using this software on a semi-regular basis worthwhile

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin M. | Recording Artist, Music, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I love how simple it is to use iMovie. The interface is pretty basic, but that makes it incredibly easy to pick up on.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

The simplicity of the software also makes it difficult to customize exactly how you want.

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

If you don't plan to create complex video editing, this is great software. If you need more flexibility of customization, you should use Final Cut Pro or something like that.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating in video format, I've used iMovie for a ton of short minimal-edits videos.

 ### 49. iMovie- edit like a pro

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex M. | Director of Marketing and Communications, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

Very robust. You can do pretty much anything you would ever need to a video. Love that you can also edit the audio of a video right in the same spot.

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

Because it's sos robust, it can definitely take some time to learn. I'm not a video expert just have to do video sometimes for work so I wasn't familiar with a lot of the functions, but once you get the hang of it it's great!

**Recommendations to others considering iMovie:**

It's great but not just anyone can pick it up. You need someone who is pretty good with technology and is comfortable with video editing at least somewhat or is willing to take the time to learn it.

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Use iMovie for marketing in terms of sharing success stories mostly (I work for a nonprofit).

 ### 50. Easy to Use for mini projects

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2017

**What do you like best about iMovie?**

I like the ease of use- I am able to make short clips on certain fitness exercises and "how to videos"... and I can also compile them all into one video as well while keeping the original mini-clip

**What do you dislike about iMovie?**

I learned iMovie on my own and it was a bit difficult at first to get used to, as it was one of my first programs I used on a Mac. Once you are used to using a Mac everything should come naturally!

**What problems is iMovie solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With iMovie I am able to solve the problem of my students performing exercises incorrectly and am able to prevent injury. As a fitness instructor and Physical Education teacher I find that having my students watch "how to" videos are better than lecturing them. These clips are available to them at any time and they can see the clips/whole "how to" movie at their disposal.
