## Immersive Reviews
  ### 1. Great training platform covering a wide variety of topics

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

There is a wide variety of training for cyber security professionals of all levels.
The ability to choose different security areas is also helpful in deciding what labs to work through.
The IL team do occasional webinars to discuss major security events that are interesting to listen into.
Manager assigned labs are also beneficial, allowing a tailored training plan for each user - for example, able to tailor training for an L1 and an L3 analyst separately.
The rapid response to current threats makes me feel that the team at IL have their ears close to the ground and are passionate about the service they offer.
Support team have been extremely helpful - I've run into a few problems (login issues, as well as an odd bug with points/scoring) and have had my issues resolved within hours of first contact.
Lab difficulty is varied, so there's always something to dig your teeth into whether you've only got half an hour or a whole night to play.
And lastly... the labs are just super fun!

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Two issues I can think of off the top of my head:

1) I believe this is planned already, but the lack of a hint system can be a little infuriating. Perhaps a method of offering a hint but ensuring that the concept is taken onboard (i.e. asking for a hint would open up an extra question just to make sure the user isn't relying too heavily on the hint to answer the question)

2) Some topic areas are difficult for those without any prior knowledge of the topic - for example, the Infrastructure Pentester course requires a Java RMI experience which itself isn't an issue but also requires knowledge of Python. Not a huge issue, but (unless i'm being blind) there are no Python labs to bring would-be pentesters up to speed on this lab.

**Recommendations to others considering Immersive:**

Definitely worth contacting the team to see if there are any free trials (I believe they offer a trial version that contains a handful of labs). IL is definitely a tool that can strengthen the knowledge of Cyber Security Professionals.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm currently widening my knowledge of tooling, and broadening my understanding of red team/offensive security. As someone who is working in a purely defensive role, it is advantageous to think of how an attacker might think and to get ahead of their thought process before they can cause any damage.

This has helped make me a better analyst overall, and has rekindled my interest in learning about security!

  ### 2. Great learning platform, especially for someone like myself who is new to the infosec field

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

The most helpful aspect of immersive labs is the practical labs that come with each lab. Supplementing reading with some practical work where you can apply the knowledge and skills learned dramatically improves knowledge retention.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Some labs are not so great at explaining what other skills may be required first before attempting a lab. In some cases, I have had to go away and find other skills to learn first before returning to the lab. Would be great if all labs have a list of skills required before attempting them (some labs do this already).

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem i'm solving is my relatively small amount of experience within infosec. As a newcomer to this field, immersive labs has provided me with a lot of the fundamental skills required for me to do my job better. Furthermore, it's a great one stop place to learn about other skills and fields within infosec.

  ### 3. Immersive Labs takes learning to the next level

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

I personally like the fact that Immersive Labs gamifies learning making it more enjoyable and therefore easier to retain. They also include real-life and up-to-date content making it more relatable to what's going on in current affairs.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

I completely understand the aspect of not providing much help on some of the labs as this will force you to figure out the answers yourself, do external research and ultimately develop your own technical skills; however, I often find myself completing "beginner" labs which provide very minimal support and can therefore be both very time consuming and confusing for someone new to that topic.

**Recommendations to others considering Immersive:**

It's hands down the best training platform out there. Interactive training is unparalleled and can't be competed with.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having access to a platform that manages to cover a wider variety of topics while still maintaining a comprehensive level of detail is profoundly helpful for anyone in any job position. Understanding risks and responsibilities while also learning more about your job role is critical for any company, and Immersive Labs does a great job at exemplifying this.

  ### 4. Very fun and very effective!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

Immersive Labs' gamified way of learning new cyber skills is absolutely unmatched! The practical labs give you a hands-on experiance that you won't find anywhere else, from breaking into a system using various tools to running infamous viruses in a live environment.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Sometimes the Windows labs can take a while to load, and some of the labs can be done in a much simpler way then suggested (the Yara labs for example). Occasionally doing certain actions can also break the labs and force you to restart them but these are very minor setbacks.

**Recommendations to others considering Immersive:**

If your input doesn't work and you're 100% sure it is correct, paste it into an external text tool first

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Because of Immersive Labs, I can now actually identify Bash output without actually looking at the command! I also have a greater insight into the actual processes of blue and red team attacks, so these help me to troubleshoot from every step and not just the end-to-end client communication.

  ### 5. Super educating and fast with relevant labs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christian H. | First Responder - CyberSecurity, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

How fast the timeframe of the labs get developed. Hereby i mean that it get released when its still relevant, for example log4j was fairly quickly release and could be used for our IR

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Sometimes that i get stuck during the labs i can't seem to find help, and need to abandon the lab, which is not cool. I would rather have tips&tricks that could help me solve the lab.

**Recommendations to others considering Immersive:**

Help on labs

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The huge gap there is in the security market. I can't say how we are financially benefitting from this, but i tend to be more updated on the latest threats etc.

  ### 6. Excellent Content and Hands on Lab activity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

Able to apply training content to live labs. Training content is kept small but informative which keeps it interesting and helps to focus.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

sometimes it gets difficult to find answers or the method to find them is not covered in the 'Info' tab or can be found by online search. Having some hint options after n number of tries will be helpful. Having a mobile/tablet app. Game style Flashcard options for a mobile app to earn 1-2 points and compete with other users or within groups.

**Recommendations to others considering Immersive:**

Stay focused on weekly lab goals and have fun learning.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning & practicing cyber security tools for penetration and security testing enhances my skill set in product testing.

  ### 7. Great learning environment

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Law Enforcement | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

The theory is "immersed" in practice, you have all the tools in one place and you can take notes as you move along, for later recollection. I love the interactive side of the lessons and the little history lessons related to all the technical stuff I am learning.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

It is impossible to use the labs from a mobile phone, an app with the same kind of accessibility you get with a laptop/desktop device would be a great addition to their pallette.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am learning how to use cutting-edge tools with down-to-earth, easy-to-understand steps, even baby steps sometimes. I can apply the steps I am learning straight away and I have already used the tools to improve my speed and productivity.

  ### 8. Immersive Labs Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

Wide variaty of labs. Lots of topics to discover and learn about. Great UI.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Lack of CTF labs
Sometimes the labs are not clear enough as you need to be completed some other labs from the platform

**Recommendations to others considering Immersive:**

If you are tired reading about topics and actually want to apply what you have read than this is for you.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cybersecurity related topics. Learning bunch of things about this topic. Best benefit is to not just read about the topic but actaully do it inside the virtual lab.

  ### 9. Exceptionally good learning platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason C. | Cyber Security Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

All the labs are broken down into bite-sized chunks, this allows you to learn every day without having to allocate half/or a full day. It's easy to follow and understand.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Every now and then some questions are not always obvious, a hint would be good, this could even be the expected length of the answer, just so you know if you're on the right track

**Recommendations to others considering Immersive:**

Loads of content, very good training platform.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning will never stop, I have found Immersivelabs allows me to look into subjects/or areas, that I wouldn't have thought about. Because it's broken into small 'lessons' it's great to try something 'out of band'.

  ### 10. Immersive experience with Immersive Labs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krzysztof B. | Security Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

On demand labs with both linux and windows ecosystems. Each practice lab has a broad theoretical explanation about the presented topic. Gamification is GREAT!

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Some lab instructions are not clear. Info pane cannot be opened in new web browser tab and it takes too much space covering OS in the background.

One minor thing i dislike is the timing out of labs, but i understand why this is a feature.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anything and everything, I have learned a vast amount of skills just by learning with immersive labs.

  ### 13. Good labs, but no solutions if you cant solve

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

Content is pretty good and of all levels. Labs are pretty straight-forward with good challenges. A virtual machine is provided, hence, i don't need to set up anything on my pc.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

No solutions. In case we are stuck in one lab, I am unable to locate the solution. the only thing I can do I try harder. this might be a good or bad thing depending on the perspective.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i keep myself updated with vulnerabilities. some vulnerabilities are old and might not be available in the real-world but immersive labs help to practice those vulnerabilities too.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

When I've got only short slots of time to study, IL lets me get right to the point, accomplish, save progress, report to my management, and move on quickly. I love that I can compete with my peers as well. It's all motivational, and all in good fun.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Occasionally it hangs when loading labs. A quick refresh always fixes the problem though.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have the time to setup a target-rich environment for safe offline practice of exploit techniques. I'd spend more time building my environment than I did practicing exploits. IL makes it possible to get right to the point by setting it all up for you.

  ### 23. Excellent training material and hands on labs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

  ### 24. Good catalogue of content

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

The breadth of content is good for both the blue team and the read team. The tools covered are also frequently used by cybersecurity professionals. The lab environment provided is good enough. The timely updates for CVE's are good to have as well

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

The content could be more detailed for some topics rather than just an overview plus link to external resources for some labs.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Covering gaps in my knowledge and exploring new tools which can be incorporated within our program.

  ### 25. Excellent platform to (re)learn skills

We are using Kali and other tools to solve problems and issues seen in Cyber-Security. Sometimes there is more than one way to crack a nut!

  ### 27. 2 years exp with imlabs

**Reviewed by:** Paweł S. | Security Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

Great platform to learn with fun (if you like to hack). I can also build many other skills without time-consuming configuration of environment.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Reconnections, too small interfaces with rdp. Not clear instructions in some labs.

**Recommendations to others considering Immersive:**

Patience, critical-thinking

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I tried to launch vms or containers similar to imlabs I had many problems. Here is everything fine out of the box.

  ### 28. Great Learning Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

Real world labs that teach you hands on skills that get you the skills you need to do your job proficiently. Also, that all of the labs are through the browser, so they require no additional setup.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

I disliked how some labs were sort of unclear. Especially the starter labs that was supposed to get you familiar with the interface and just had you click different buttons.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have realized that hands on labs is the best way to learn. You can answer questions to a test or quiz as much as you want, but to do your job day to day you need experience with the technology you will be working with.

  ### 29. Fantastic content

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Immersive?**

I live the amount of content that is available on the platform. I also like that they add new content to include zero day exploits that come out.

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

I wish there was a better way to build learning paths so that I could tie training courses together better.

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OWAPS top 10. It also allows me to test new zero day vulnerabilities.

  ### 30. Great learning platform - SOC Analyst

The labs have helped me with my day to day job, I particulary like that labs for new vulnerabilities are created quickly

**What do you dislike about Immersive?**

Some labs can take a long time if I'm getting a small detail wrong, having some additional cheat sheets / walkthrough could be beneficial

**What problems is Immersive solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning red teaming skills helps me understand the other side of the attack while using EDR tools.
