Running WordPress based sites, the standard way to present images is to create a set of different 'thumbnails' - however, generating these thumbnails can add server load, and they can take a lot of storage. You also don't have a perfect image served for every screen pixel density. With imgix we're able to request perfectly sized images that - this is especially important for Design Week, where we are presenting images to a very visual audience.
Support is generally excellent.
To make it work really well we developed out own integration - there is a standard plugin, but it's not flexible enough for what we wanted to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes, very large images can be slow (1s) to be served at a new screen size/dpi combination. Common screen sizes and pixel densities are generally pulled from cache. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
