ImageAssist is a HIPAA-compliant clinical photography workflow platform designed to help healthcare teams capture, manage, and securely store patient images at the point of care. Founded in 2024 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, ImageAssist is used by clinics, hospitals, and health systems across specialties including plastic and reconstructive surgery, dermatology, wound care, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and primary care.
The platform combines mobile (iPhone/iPad) and web applications to replace manual, fragmented photo workflows—such as personal camera rolls, SLR cameras, and unsecured transfers—with a standardized, audit-ready solution. ImageAssist integrates with leading EMRs and supports structured photo sessions, secure cloud storage, and team-based access controls.
ImageAssist’s core value lies in its workflow-first design. Built in close collaboration with practicing clinicians, the platform uses AI-powered tools—such as SmartGuides, background removal, tagging, and image organization—to improve consistency, speed, and usability while reducing clinical burden, compliance risk, and operational inefficiency.
