Implementation of HL7 interfaces allows a great deal of flexibility with customized code for pre & post processing of messages, inserting messages into SQL databases, sophisticated validation of data elements, and scripting which integrates with OS tasks such as file management. Creating separate VMD files with Chameleon separated some aspects of message parsing and formatting from the interface code. So, this prevented seeing all message handling in one place. Iguana puts very few limits on what you can do with data, from the formats you use to the ways the data is stored. It's a platform for writing code to handle messaging. I've been quite satisfied with the Iguana's performance and easy handling. Requests can be easily traced. I'm also grateful for the possibility of using HL7 simulator for generating test requests. It is a great feature that multiple filters options can be settled to trace the requests needed, and there are possibilities to generate a link and to download each of requests.
