Recommendations to others considering IFS Copperleaf: We decided that Copperleaf was a good fit for an electric utility as it has a number of utility clients. Utilities often rely on asset condition as a main input in the investment process and Copperleaf supports risk based condition assessments when developing investment plans. We could also see value in using Copperleaf as the "investment container" that collected all of the information (condition, performance, risks, costs, rating, reference documentation, etc.) needed to justify an investment which could be used when dealing with or responding to questions from Senior Management, Audit, Regulatory Agencies, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Developing condition and risk based/measured optimized annual and ongoing adjustment of Capital and OM&A budgets across the entire organization that also provides the necessary investment rationale, costs, risk assessment and supporting documentation that justifies each individual investment so that more objective decisions can be made across all lines of business within the organization. In order to accomplish the objective, the project sought to implement a single and consistent investment planning and evaluation process and understood that Change Management was a key factor to consider when dealing with an asset intensive and operations utility that has many lines of businesses competing for scarce resources.
