While the overall feature set is comprehensive, the initial upload speeds can feel a bit slow when backing up very large folders for the first time. The price is great. It doesn't stop there, however. Backup works, and the product doesn't advertise any more than simplicity. If you have media, you still must use a media application to open files, and so on with all file types. The beauty of the product is allowing two way backup with lots of storage for cheap.

It's great that they offer low priced cloud backup and integrations. Getting all this in one package anywhere else could cost a fortune. I have had zero data loss issues. The one drawback is that jumping in manually is sometimes needed. It's fine with me though as it is quick and simple.

User interface is solid. It's actually a little old school. I have had no need for support yet. It is nice that upselling and extra charges are clear. If anything comes up I have been told that I need to upgrade or get charged for overage. Considering how great the pricing is. That is fine. Support help getting acclimated is built in. Haven't needed extra help yet.

When I have automatic login set up on the Mac desktop application. It does automatically login when opening. However, I have to put in an authenticator code each time. I don't like that you can't upload files to the cloud and then delete them off of your machine. This feature is technically possible using the versioning features of iDrive, but there is no way to create a single organized directory of files that are partially on the cloud and partially held locally. It is very easy to set up and use. I can find my way around the app and the website easily. The backup is fast and accurate. It enables me to set it and forget it. Logs are easy to review and any issues during backups are raised in the UI to help identify and rectify the underlying conditions. Restores run quickly and efficiently, and the Archive Sync feature keeps the cloud backup in sync with the local data, ensuring subscription storage limits are not exceeded. I use IDrive online and IDrive Cloud to backup my extra files. I was looking for ages to find an alternative to dropbox, and up until now I was using that but it became too expensive for too expensive to justify. IDrive is a little bit slower to sync but such good overall value for lots of storage, which I need for all my old files that I don't need on my actual computer. I haven't used the AI features as I just use it to back up old stuff. The UX could be better but it doesn't really effect me. I like that I have still been able to install the desktop client to my macbook laptop and sync it like I would on dropboix. I haven't connected or integrated into the other tools in my stack.

the sign up promos were unbelievable and for those alone I'd recommend giving iDrive a try. I ended up staying after my first year even though i wasn't using close to 10% of the space I had. Which is another thing, the amount of space you're getting for the price is unimaginable if you were to buy a SSD of the same size, and then you wouldn't even get cloud functionality. The set up process was so simple. Using the native app streamlined the hell out of the system as did auto-backups and syncs.The trash folder saved my life more times than I care to admit. Nothing is permanently deleted unless you intentionally navigate over to the folder and delete from there. Even if you're not very tech friendly, the trash function acts as a failsafe in case you screw something up while trying to move docs around or get them off your computer and store them on the drive. iDrive is designed to be irritatingly difficult to leave. in order to get my stuff off the drive I had to use the app to sync 50GB (the amount of free space on my laptop) at a time to the cloud drive folder on my computer. then i had to pick all those files up and move them to a SSD or another cloud and then start a new sync, effectively removing the last 50GB from my laptop and uploading the next 50GB and I had to work in chunks like that to move a little under a TB of data. which was annoying. Also, the sticker shock after those epic sign up promos can be a nasty surprise. That's ultimately why I had to leave. I would not say that I really dislike anything about iDrive so far. I haven't found out how I can make it automatically continue a back up I had started earlier.
