What do you like best about IconCMO?

The IconCMO accounting team is professional and has been very helpful to our organization. We outsource a portion of our bookkeeping to their team. They are knowledgeable, prompt in their responses, and kind and helpful in their interactions. They have helped us resolve multiple issues, are prompt and thorough in reconciling our monthly books and providing reports, and are always available to explain how to do something new in Icon when I have a question about the system or encounter a new situation. What do you dislike about IconCMO?

It has been a little difficult to make sure that everyone on our team knows how to use the system. While the accounting team is very helpful in their support, and Icon provides written support resources, for our volunteers who don't have time to learn the system or ask for help, it can be challenging to make sure everyone is on the same page. What problems is IconCMO solving and how is that benefiting you?

IconCMO is working to make their systems more efficient. For example, their new Donations module (replacing Contributions) will streamline some features that will benefit us, such as being able to transfer donations (this recently happened for us) without needing to use a date range or repost previous batches. What do you dislike about IconCMO?

There are some hiccups with group emails and texts, but it sounds like those are getting worked on. I also think the deposit slip after the contributions should be more intuitive, and list checks in order entered, not alphabetically. Overall though these are small things. What do you like best about IconCMO?

Live support help is readily available with most calls; I rarely have to leave a message for call-back.

The openness of developers to suggestions for enhancements.

Flexibility in data structures [groups / events / special events].

Wide variety of query/data retrieval options.

Contribution integration with Vanco and General Ledger transactions [although we moved to a different accounting system as explained in next section]. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IconCMO?

Chart of Account structure does not adapt [or I couldn't figure it out] to SOFE requirements for 990 filing and financial review requirements

Budget preparation/reporting is tedious and does not lend itself to program/department reporting

Forced use of some field values [e.g., Status of Active/inactive, etc.; special events that don't apply to our application]

Inability to configure field labels on drop-downs at the Individual level. As a result, the contents of our drop-downs appear to be mislabeled, making it confusing to users.

Does not work well on a mobile platform; there used to be a directory available for phone use. It would be a big help for our coordinators to have group texting / emailing at their fingertips via their mobile devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering IconCMO:

It is an economical, efficient, and reasonably easy-to-use application once you are used to it. I am not sure what else is out there these days to compare with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is IconCMO solving and how is that benefiting you?

We had a hodge-podge of excel spreadsheets to track volunteers and ministry partners. By funneling contact information into a single database it became easier to communicate with them and identify who is actively engaged in the ministry now. The challenge has been that IconCMO is designed for church use more than general non-profit use.

The solution is not ideal but it is better than what we had. I would like to better understand how to use some of the features in case I am missing something. I also would like to see some enhancements that would make use of the data for our purposes easier to grasp for our users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Thank you so much for your review! It sounds like a little more training on the system would be helpful - we do offer free training on a 1-on-1 basis, so please feel free to sign up on your home page in IconCMO, or email support@iconcmo.com and we can set up a time!

To address some of the current concerns you had:

Budgeting in IconCMO is done by fund, which also allows you to be able to print budget reports by Fund as well as for the whole organization

As for the fields and labels, IconCMO has the option under Church Membership to modify the contents of a dropdown list. This gives you the ability to customize your drop down lists to meet the needs of your organization!

Lastly, our Member Portal is still available for download in Google play and Apple's app store. This member portal has the directory available with clickable links on phone numbers and email addresses for calling and texting. Our member portal is designed for mobile phone use.

Hi Carol, thanks for the review!

As far as customized reports go, in the majority of your screens there is an icon in the upper right hand corner (next to the magnifying glass icon) that looks like 3 dots. If you click on those three dots, it opens up a customization area. Here you can customize your view of the screen and print a custom report.
