"lightweight but robust solution to meet enterprise needs"
4.5/5
What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

Liberty provides a lightweight solution to support Java applications, and I love its fast rollout of an application/production and the fewer efforts for support and maintenance.

Application Server still provides a powerful and robust solution to meet enterprise needs. The security and transaction management features are still much appreciated for complicated business requirements. I love the convenience of configuring data sources, and creating different types of application servers and applications in the Application Server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

The lack of a convenient way to test the data source connection in the Liberty.

For the Application Server, I dislike the complexity of the file structure and the confusion of configuration files at different levels (e.g. Node level and Server level) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Secure and efficient application server for enterprise applications"
4.5/5
What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

IBM WebSphere Application Server is a highly flexible solution for running and testing enterprise applications with Java server runtime environments. The best aspect of the solution is the flexibility for deploying and managing applications regardless of location and machines, which is excellent for testing and analyzing deployed applications in multi-cloud environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

Cloud deployment doesn't take much time for IBM WebSphere Application Server and is easy to manage, but the container deployment of the server images at the premise is hard to understand and a bit tricky process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"My bad experiences with WebSphere"
1/5
What do you like best about IBM WebSphere?

The product itself is great when it works. If there are no issues, it will be a good tool for running and testing your Java EE environments. The idea is solid, and the product is helpful in the short term. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM WebSphere?

As I mentioned above, WebSphere is great when it works well. The problem is that it rarely does. I have had a host of issues with this product that have driven me up the walls. I am sure you have seen the comments online if you've looked this product up about how complex it is. It is very convoluted, and complex is a light term.

I am also not sure if others have experienced what I would call 'bugs' but others on my team call defects with the product. It mostly happens during upgrades and it is a headache that i am sure many people would prefer to be without. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Neil Patterson of IBM WebSphere

Thanks for the review. It appears you are familiar with WebSphere Application Server but have yet to explore the latest Liberty software, which is part of WebSphere Hybrid Edition. Please check out openliberty.io, the open source, upstream cloud-native runtime, which supports the latest cloud-native development features, including full compatibility with MicroProfile, Jakarta EE, and more of the leading standards. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised at the innovation available with this free, open-source runtime. When you need full support, please check out WebSphere Liberty, built on Open Liberty.
