## IBM Targetprocess Reviews
  ### 1. Single Source of Truth with Clear Visibility Across Teams and Portfolios

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2026

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

Clear visibility across all work and teams
It gives a single source of truth where you can see what everyone’s working on — from team tasks to enterprise-level portfolios — which makes coordination much easier.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

Several reviewers say that documentation is lacking or unclear, and that official training resources could be more helpful or detailed — making it harder for teams to learn best practices.
G2

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a unified view of all work — from strategic initiatives to individual tasks — across portfolios, products, and teams.

  ### 2. smooth planning

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** cody s. | Senior TBMA, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

I like the ability to streamline Agile portfolio and project management, offering teams a clear, visual way to manage work at all stages, from planning to execution.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

The platform’s flexibility, while powerful, can also make it complex and difficult to set up initially, especially for teams unfamiliar with Agile frameworks or extensive customization. The user interface, while highly visual, feels cluttered or overwhelming, particularly in larger implementations with numerous boards and data points. Sometimes there are performance issues when handling large datasets, which can impact productivity, especially in our fast-paced environment.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping teams and organizations gain better control over complex workflows and strategic alignment. One of the main benefits is providing visibility across all levels of work, from individual tasks to high-level project portfolios. This visibility helps teams manage dependencies, prioritize effectively, and make informed decisions, keeping work aligned with organizational goals and reducing the likelihood of bottlenecks.

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Hi Cody! We're glad to hear that you find IBM Targetprocess helpful in streamlining Agile portfolio and project management. We understand your concerns about the platform's complexity and performance issues, and we are continuously working to improve the user experience and address any performance issues. Thank you for sharing that feedback!

  ### 3. Transformative Agile Reporting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Grant W. | Senior Manager Technology Business Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

The most helpful point about Targetprocess from my point of view as a Portfolio Budget Manager include the ability to assign individual resources to value streams and see their immediate cost impact based upon the allocations entered. In prior years my team had to utilize up to three or four different sets of data and tools to make these calculations. Now we can make capacity changes and see and immediate update to the forecast.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

Filtering should be much easier instead of required a ? and set wording which does not always work.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Targetprocess is able to report work completed in Jira that I've been unable to review before. We are able to see work complete, in progress, on hold, etc. and also see calculated costs for the effort completed. This will allow us to transform our ways of working to account for actual costs to the appropriate assets and in the future allow us to remove the highly inaccurate and time consuming hourly time reporting process we currently utilize.

  ### 4. It blew my mind - What an outstanding Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sinora B. | Apptio Targetprocess Implementation Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

- The flexibility
- Scalability
- The ability to be able to mold the tool to the organizations requirement versus asking organizations to adjust to the tool rigidness (No kidding, it was best thing I have ever seen)
- the simplicity of the tool
- Support of Targetprocess guys and response time of customer support live chat was pure love <3
- Implementation was great, pretty smooth
- Did Jira to TP Integration and loved the ease of creating fields and syncing and mapping data .

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

- Poor documentation - I think you guys still need to make it more responsive and detailed. Info is unclear in many areas and very high levels. Need more robust learning material
- Better Training - the current info shared in training was very different than what I experience on the job while I was working with client.
- Advanced filter could have been simpler, LOL
But now that advanced filter are not simple - a training focusing on using Advanced filter, creating validation rule with some real time case studies or training live session or even training videos... Need more complicated scenarios to be explained and broken down properly.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to bring client to view a holistic Organization view and customize the reports and level of planning across different levels of the org

  ### 5. Great for Team using SAFe

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John W. | Director of Product Management, Industrial Automation, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

It is a comprehensive issue and project tracking platform that includes many features aimed at small to mid-sized companies who are employing SAFe methodologies for their Product/Project delivery process. It has copious features for Release Train Engineers and Product Managers to effectively collaborate on the backlog and requirements.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

The navigation and configuration of the tool can be clunky and unfriendly, especially to new users who are accustomed to simple, easy-to-use platforms like Jira, or others.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Targetprocess is an out of the box solution that empowers SAFe Agile Release Trains to effectively document, refine, execute and release product. There are a lot of tools out there that say they can effictively do this, but Targetprocess is aimed at this specific methodology and enabling all of the reporting, page views and workflows that allow our teams to seamlessly collaborate and for leadership to build accountability.

  ### 21. Apptio Targetprocess Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Badal P. | Software Quality Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

Apptio TargetProcess stands out due to its high level of flexibility. This ability is especially valuable since it allows them to customize the software considering individual requirements and patterns of work, for diverse teams and projects. At this degree of flexibility, users can develop a very individual life project management coursework that fits exactly in line with their targets. Furthermore, the intuitive UI and user-oriented design are very helpful in creating a perfect and fast user experience.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

However, one thing that I do not like is the lack of some out-of-the-box solutions. For example, I face problems explaining about status meetings, because they are among the management activities. Rather, it would help if the system had an inherent feature meeting some special needs without depending on external works ground.
Also, I have realized that this too does not have the capability of capturing velocity unlike other contenders such as Jira. This may pose as a downside when relying so much on tracked velocities for agility purposes.

These shortcomings notwithstanding, it can be improved to a greater extent, thereby turning into a powerful as well as encompassing tool.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has a comprehensive solution for managing projects with the scaled agile framework – one of the critical issues it is taking care of within our organization. This allows us to make the processes transparent; that is, we can track promises people within our teams make at PI planning meetings. My organization now enjoys great visibility, alignment, and collaboration among its team members resulting to fruitful project outcomes following adoption of Targetprocess.
Additionally, this software is used to keep record of all produced defects and assign them to the respective teams. Such feature enables effective monitoring of communication within tickets as well as linking of related tickets which bear common characteristics. This has improved our ability to attend to problems quickly and fix them effectively with this streamlined method of bug tracking.

  ### 22. Easy to configure,Flexible and customizable

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

Userinterface can be much faster and more attractive

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a Saas solution that helps in managing and planning work, programs, resources and portfolios

  ### 23. Nice experience with the apptio

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

  ### 25. Agile methodology adoption with Apptio Targetprocess

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Damnik J. | Employee, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

Apptio Targetprocess provides a cloud-based platform which can be integrated with various sources like Oracle, Excel and Salesforce. Imported data can be quickly churned, filtered, and plotted into interactive charts, making it easy to analyse. The dashboard can be shared across teams, making it a centralised system. It also boosts productivity and helps analyse team performance, progress, backlogs and risk cost in the agile process. PMO is another liked feature provided in Targetprocess.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

Apptio Targetprocess has a few shortcomings. The free edition pricing plans have limited features. On continuous refresh, it lags a little, and views can go out of sync. But overall, I love it, and it's an excellent tool for tracking activities and portfolio management for the enterprise.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apptio Targetprocess helps us analyse team performance and development progress via interactive burn charts. We follow agile methodology, and AT provides a platform to track different team members and the backlogs at one place and can be integrated with JIRA and Excel. We also track our product user base and progress through the product analytics dashboard.

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

We have been using TP since 2010. It was my tool of choice back then, when I was looking for an Agile tool that brought to the the table more than just a Kanban board, and it will be my choice today. Its workflow customization is very powerful and the visual encoding capabilities on views very useful.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

All projects have management activities, like status meetings. TP does not provide any out-of-the-box solution to represent that.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TP can handle different types of projects, each group with their own workflow but under a somewhat unified look. We use it to track projects and gather performance indicators.

  ### 34. Robust Product Management Platform!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2022

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

Apptio Targetprocess is built for Agile teams and excels at planning and management of the most critical intake and development processes to just standard portfolio management. It's not often that you can say that a tool grows with you as you get more advanced and in the weeds of project/product management, but this platform does. Taking advantage of the flexibility in managing processes is another area that they focus on and provide great benefit in as well.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

I don't have any thing that I would say is a dislike. I'm really happy with the overall product experience. I guess if I had to mention something, they don't have as many integrations as others in the same market. However, again I really think this is a strength because for the integrations that they do have they are complete more so than need feature enhancements.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Faster time to market, oversight into project and product management, a tool that serves as a record of source aligned with our business intake process, and a development tool for teams.

  ### 35. Great project management software

Targetprocess is easy to customize to what works best for your project. If you need more, you can add whatever you need, like setting up different views to help keep track of the standing of your projects.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

Targetprocess takes a long time to get used to because so much can be added to it. If you have long-term projects navigating Targetprocess can be intimidating and hard to do.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project management problems I am solving with Targetprocess. I use the software to keep track of where projects stand and how much more needs to be done in order to meet my goals.

  ### 36. Helped us a lot with complex projects and investments.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sai C. | Senior Pricing Analyst/Deal Desk, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2020

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

Outstanding pricing system, easy to put in place so the implementation/training of expert solutions are class that is first. The application is effective and also works with various methods to Agile/Agile Scrum, and also includes pre built application solutions like sound. Our company was all set up in an extremely short period of time.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

Because we're an international company, there was no great way to link customers on the tasks together with the capability to bring responses on the cards without buying a licence. In particular situations, there have been over ten participants taking part in the project who'd have extremely limited interactions. This would not seem sensible to buy a licence for all people.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM Targetprocess:**

After seeing several of the videos, it looked as we appreciated the adaptability to make our customized processes. It was truly cool to have the ability to seamlessly transport cards around teams depending on the position of theirs.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Targetprocess helps us a great deal to handle a complicated project, with numerous teams doing work in tandem on an extensive product roadmap. My realization was to be able to be well worth the investment, teams must make use of most of the functions as well as metrics which could be grown. Based on the client 's task management, it wasn't feasible to properly use sprints as well as create metrics in particular scenarios. In all those situations, we wound up migrating to a different device.

  ### 37. Awesome software and the best support I've ever experienced

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael J. | Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2020

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

Target Process is the perfect app for someone who isn't afraid to get into the details and likes to configure things. It is incredibly configurable and adaptable. There is hardly anything I want to do that I can't find a way to do, and they are continually improving it. It has a wide selection of plugins, customizations, mashups, automation capabilities, an API and commercial integrations. And the pricing is reasonable enough for a small business to afford. And the tech support is honestly superb - I've never gotten this kind of support from ANY company for anything. Even on a free trial they respond quickly, helpfully, in detail - and the support people know their stuff! None of the ridiculous scripted responses - these folks know the product backwards and forwards and are always helpful -and they're honest when the software simply can't do anything. They also have a public suggestion list you can vote on - and they pay attention to what customers need.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

There's not much to dislike about it - I'm almost afraid to recommend it too strongly because I'm afraid they'll grow too fast and not be able to keep things up as they are now.
If there was one thing I would like to see change - it would be this: right now, the assumption is that every resource tracked in the system is also an active user, who needs a license. There's no real ability to track work assignments and resource availability on people who are not also licensed users. This is perfectly reasonable if you are following the intended model of each resource taking their assignments from the system and updating as they progress. However, if you have a model where a smaller group of managers track the work of a larger group of people , you will have to pay for licenses for everyone. There are ways to get around this but then you lose some of the capabilities of the software. I would like for them to allow assigning work to users who don't necessarily log into the system and use it - either by having a concept of a "passive" user (perhaps at a reduced cost) or else by not requiring assignments to be tied to licensed users.
I recognize that this may not be an issue in many businesses however.
One thing I haven't been able to do with it, that would be helpful is have it send notifications based on calculations with dates - eg send a notification when the current date is x days before the date in a date field. It's possible that this can be done using the API or the most recent automation updates - I haven't looked at this recently but it wasn't possible a while back.

The timeline calendar views are a bit clumsy to use - you can't just select a standard time scale (quarter, month, week) . The date picker doesn't have a Today button so sometimes you have to scroll through a long range of dates to get where you want. This is surprising given how thoughtful most of the product is. And the controls for timeline views are rather unintuitive compared to almost everything else.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM Targetprocess:**

I don't have a lot of experience with similar tools so I can't really compare it well. I initially chose it because of the capabilities and because it was affordable for a tiny business. The UI and configuration can be quirky at times - but I love how much customization it affords. It doesn't offer much in terms of dependencies in the way that MS Project does - but it also doesn't bog you down with Project's rigidity.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used the software in a variety of ways - for the intended use case of software development (very small business), for tracking projects in a more general way, and I've adapted it for use in a completely different use case. Really - it's great stuff.

I've not used the strategy and road mapping much yet - but they look quite good.

  ### 38. Targetprocess

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve I. | Sales Director, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM Targetprocess?**

With a powerful infrastructure and renowned visualization functionality, Targetprocess offers improved power to manage its desktop interface on a mobile application platform. Available for Android and iOS devices, Targetprocess provides instant access to various projects wherever you are. After logging in to your account, the various boards you have created are arranged in a streamlined UX interface. At first, the system may be crowded. This is especially important if you have been assigned several tables. However, each column of the array is unfolded and folded. Prevent the feeling overwhelmed by an infinite number of boards by zooming in on just one board at a time. Access to project whiteboards is easy, but what about tracking progress? The included messaging interface offers a secure and stable communication portal — convenient access to private messages with other team members or access to group chats in a simple layout. The intuitive messaging system is native to your device, minimizing communication errors. In addition to the basic design and task overview, Targetprocess mobile application allows you to add new tasks such as additional project features, bug reports, and user histories. Combined with a dynamic search interface that allows you to search for tasks, comments, and tasks, you can stay up to date with the latest developments and events wherever you work.

**What do you dislike about IBM Targetprocess?**

The interface is not 100% fluid, there are sometimes slow response times, and there is an error in the error

**Recommendations to others considering IBM Targetprocess:**

In principle, the Targetprocess mobile application is an excellent support tool. From a comprehensive project update tool to native gesture control, it's never been easier to keep track of what matters most to you and your business.

**What problems is IBM Targetprocess solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Targetprocess offers a unique and flexible solution for managing the tracking and monitoring of projects during the journey. Designed to simplify agile application designs, the mobile application interface delivers Targetprocess power in the palm of your hand.
