What do you like best about IBM Storage Protect?

I have worked with TSM for over 10 years. It is a good enterprise backup solution that gives you the ability to configure it to suit your companies needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Storage Protect?

Learning TSM takes a while and a lot of hours of experience. Some of the logic in the software just doesn't make sense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering IBM Storage Protect:

If you are going to deploy TSM make sure you have an experienced admin onsite. Don't make the mistake of thinking that you will be able to handle the product with a training class. It takes real experience to understand the nuances of the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Forever Incremental Backup,

Easy Maintenance for different OS flavors,

Storage Pool - On pool & Off Pool architectures

Colocating data on tapes for faster restore.

Absolute security by not storing catalog information on the Tapes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Storage Protect?

Database needs to be safeguarded all the times , if we lose the tsm db , then we cannot perform any restore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
