Decision trees make it easy to configure decision rules.

**What do you dislike about IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM)?**

The product is good but not a lot of commercial rules shipped with the product. For example it would be good to have a Business rules for tax computation shipped with the product. So we can customize rather than build it all from scratch.

**What problems is IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Taxation and Tax witholding. Optimized set of rules and better manageability and testing.

The need of technical skill to start the project

Complex decision tha need to apply some policies. The benfits are the transparency of the rules, everybody knows about the decisions that are taking and why.

Centralized cloud UI provides a common touchpoint for developers and business users

SCM feels half-baked. Cannot co-locate XOM with rules. Integration with Rule Designer forces choice between on-prem rules and cloud rules (when environments are often hybrid, this creates some big headaches)

Automated insurance underwriting standardizes business rules, keeps the good of the "human element:".

ODM is robust and dynamic enough to keep up with changing business needs.

We still have not been able to roll this out directly to our customers for changes. All changes are still managed by IT.
