What do you like best about IBM Netezza Performance Server?

The most helpful feature of IBM Netezza I felt is its availability over cloud. Apart from this the in-database analytics capabilities of the application is very much useful to handle & manage the data warehouse of my client. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about IBM Netezza Performance Server?

The lack I time I spend tuning queries and running maintenance routines is nice. However, the best thing about Netezza is its ability to chew up monster queries that would kill other RDBMS platform and spit out results quickly to my user base. Also, the cross-pollination of the Netezza Engineers with the IBM Engineers has benefited the platform a great deal in some key areas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Netezza Performance Server?

It is an IBM product, which means you get to deal with IBM and we know that can be a love/hate relationship. I worked with Netezza when it was still Netezza so I have just had to get used to the "classic IBM upsell". However, if you get a good Sales Engineer and then an good TAM (Technical Account Manager) most of your IBM issues with not exist. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering IBM Netezza Performance Server:

Find a good consulting/development partner and have the POC done on their dime so make sure you get you feet wet with Netezza before you jump it head first. This will save on the upfront cost and help you development team learn the Netezza. Also, look and ask about returned POC Netezza Appliances as they can be had at reduced cost and you get a brand new box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about IBM Netezza Performance Server?

IBM Neteeza is a very versatile tool and is a good platform for multiple data loads as your source. I have worked with Neteeza where in I had three different sources i.e 1) Oracle, 2) MS SQL Server & 3) PostgreSQL. It worked seamlesly with all these different data sets to pull in bulk loads of data on a daily bases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Netezza Performance Server?

Many daily tasks cannot be performed from the frontend portal, requiring the admins to have some linux knowledge to perform the tasks, like backup & recovery for example. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about IBM Netezza Performance Server?

Simplicity of operations and administration; HW based accelerator for compression/decompression that leads to consistent fast performance for all SQL operations. something even bigdata server can't achieve; integrate well with major ETL tools; Superb update performance - which is critical to DW. raw data load is actually quite good too for Netezza or older DB technology. Most of the business(98%) out there don't really need what google or facebook is using! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Netezza Performance Server?

At the price point - none; if i have to pick one; lack of advanced stored procedure support - in-memory processing / advanced data type. This was based on 5 years ago experience; lately. i heard many DB2/Oracle PL/SQL features has been migrated in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is IBM Netezza Performance Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

Performance, performance, performance! at abt 1/3 price of the leading competitor price. General ETL performance improved by half of the time; General SQL performance increased by 5-10 folds easily compare to non MPP. Big differentiator for Hadoop too when it comes to SCD type 2 transformation performance Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
