Everything is best but UI part should be we can say that it should be need to be improved and rest everything is OK but the integration is somehow it is hard so they have to document something so we can do it very easily.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solves my column of taking the logs on the communities and the cluster of the boards and the number of boards for checking the health check in the morning so I can check it very easily within a minute so I don't have to open the server manually and intervate.

  ### 21. Perfect monitoring and user interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kajal M. | Software Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

The good thing is we can moniotor errors, alerts by just filtering a specific container within a time frame and the good part is it's UI.
It is best for monitoring or extracting error logs or alerts as it shows color red and green.
Can filter by endpoints so it shows only related calls.
Easy to use
Alerts for any error calls with detailed metrics and time which is very good for developer while analysing bug issue.

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

when open any link to analyse log, then if we do back then it goes to entire back page because of which have to scroll it again till the previous call.
Sometime it is confusing to analyse because of all things are in same dashboard so unable to understand whether it is relevant error calls or data.
Some tutorials would be great.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

earlier, I had to check logs in server and it had log only for 2-5 days. because of which if any issue comes after certain days, then we were not able to analyse or have to get the logs backup by the sysadmin team which is lengthy process.
It gives detailed view of all endpoints where it got errored and why how much time taken and that just in few click.
Now tracing logs is easy as compared to server as it shows red color error means because of UI.
We can filter what we want unlike server logs where we go through whole file.

Performance monitoring

  ### 27. We use Instana to monitor server performance on our application servers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle H. | Business Technology Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

I like looking at historical performance information on all my hosts. The historical view allows us to go back in time and investigate events and review system usage over time.

We heavily leverage the integration between Intana and Atlassian Opsgenie for tracking resource usage events. It has become a vital part of our alert handling in our production environments to ensure performance and uptime

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

The interface takes a little bit of time to get used to, but once you understand the flow of the screens and how to leverage the tool functionality, it becomes very powerful.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a one stop platform for reviewing performance monitoring for all of our platform hosts for our whole organization. This helps give a holistic view of how a system is performing and why as well as giving the ability to drill deeply into the details of what is going on beyond basic resource utilization statistics.

  ### 28. An overall great tool for the engineering team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashish K. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

Where do I even start. There's so much to explore and make use of. I've only probably used like 30% of what this tool has to offer. And I do this very easily with it:
1. See critical incidents, set up alerts, analyze all other services' states in the range of time in which an incident occurred
2. Amazing log analysis, infra ingress and egress monitoring, filtering, aggregation, code flows, super detailed drill down of API calls down to the last DB call and finding bottlenecks
3. amazing filtering options. I only use like 3-4 but even with them it's so easy to pinpoint to a time and app state that I want to see.
4. love the short url shortcut so much - it's a very small thing, but very useful when needing to share 10s of such links per debugging session. more apps should generate short links because nobody likes to see the whole query in a link.
5. if you're new to a company, it's a great tool for practically understanding the infra setup and monitor the innards using the amazing dashboard with its range selection that can be highligted across all services' charts in real time, to help you pinpoint problems even more easily.

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

If I google instana, there's no link I can open from the website that I can login to my company's account from. this makes it hard to login - i have to keep my company's login url handy.

I wish there were a way to check POST bod- that would making debugging easier

I think that's about it. Not much to dislike.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

monitoring CIs by setting up alerts and using dashboards
analyzing logs for debugging issues and infra issues
monitoring infra health using dashboards
monitoring specific parts of the app for a temporary time
learning infra layout

  ### 29. A useful tool to monitor the whole environment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Salvatore N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

I use Instana mostly to understand which APIs are returning errors or to understand which are too expensive in term of time consuming. I like the way Instana groups the results in several graph to undestand better in fewer time. And I like the way things are linked together: starting from the API I can go lower to the data/repository layer and see if a query is taking too much to complete.

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

Sincerely I haven't found something wrong, or missing, basing on the use I made of the product. Maybe, in my opinion, Instana seems a "read only" tool, I mean I use Instana to find issues, than I have to go to that system and act manually. I know that there are so many tools and systems to control and to handle, but maybe it could be useful to give the user some "restart that thing that is not working" features.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a cloud environment based on AWS servers and Kubernetes orchestrator. Instana is useful to have a snapshot of the entire environment, monitoring low-level machines, pods/containers, services, DBs, etc. We have alerts enabled, it's useful to have a notification when something is wrong, even when you are not alway logged in or you have a tab of Instana in your browser.

  ### 30. Nice tool for checking apps.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John C. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

I love how to follow up on my app in all the different reports and features I can find on Instana; it's a helpful tool that I love to use to have a monitoring review.

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

I think there could be an improvement in how information is displayed in graphics; I think there should be customizable options to understand better and make the best decisions according to provided data.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lot of them, for example, we had a problem with a tool of the company that was being longer over time by the number of users, and I'm pretty sure that without Instana's help, we couldn't detect it.

  ### 31. Easy to setup, simple pricing model

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ramazan A. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2022

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

When we were looking for a solution, almost all pricing models in the market were complex and scary. Some asked for huge payments in front, some had too many variables. Instana has a very simple and predictable pricing.

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

Setting up the agents and alerts are easy but a step by step guide for the interface would be great. We needed to spend some time to get used to it.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are monitoring our apps, the infrastrusture and resources effectively. We are informed about the potential issues and incidents. It is good to be aware of the problems and bottleneck before your clients.

  ### 32. Instanta - Pros and Cons

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Asim N. | SDE, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2022

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

- Clean and understandable user interface
- Key features available and easy to find
- Accurate graphs and visualization
- Good for finding the overall high level cause of an issue

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

- Split based on request params is not there, and only available based on endpoints
- Not suitable for root cause analysis like which line of code is causing issues like in appD
- External services failures and response time could not be found properly

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instana helps to keep a check on the API health, it's a clear graph shows the percentiles and error rates, it is the first thing we check if we encounter some error because it's very good for the high-level metric tracking and can tell you if everything is going the right way.

  ### 33. Using Instana to setup the dashboard for all the aws resources monitoring and alarming

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ratna K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

Instana has some great features like installing a sensor instance that can grab all the metrics from all AWS resources within an account. A customizable dashboard is a fantastic feature. It is free for the licensing part.

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

Dashboard designing is complicated Versus other tools like Grafana or Data dog. It is not straightforward. It is complex. There is not a lot of information available about designing dashboards and other functionalities in the form of videos to make user-friendly.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Still trying to make it more userfriendly. There is some room to make simple and easy configure the dashboards and alerting mechanism. May be in future will be in a competitive position to other tools like Data Dog

  ### 34. Experience with Instana

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bhanthava K. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

Using instana we were able to analyze quickly and get notified of the issue on servers. By the reports, we could segregate and validate the number of http calls.

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

To review logs of the servers we need to get into a couple of layers in the application; if we can analyze them in the very few steps, that would be more helpful.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instana is helping me in taking quick action whenever any server has an unexpected peak of api call failuers in the applications. And it gives the reports which helps in validation.

  ### 35. Useful tool for monitoring and troubleshooting

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2022

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

We strongly work with microservices, Instana allows to look for the full request path spanning different services and this provides an easy way to analyse problems.

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

We often aren't able to visualize the full payload of requests or to see the detailed stacktrace of errors, so we need to use other tools to perform a complete analysis.

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Instana for monitoring and troubleshooting mainly in a microservice scenario. The main benefits are faster analysis and solving of problems and an easy way to display a syntethic overview of the system.

  ### 36. My Experience with Instana

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

It is highly integrable with different tools and also is easy to use in scripts

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

The GUI can be more helpful, and the team can work on User experience to make it easy for newbies like me to make it more easy to understand

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The User experience I believe is out of date and needs to work on a new GUI which makes it much more easy to use.

  ### 37. I like instana tools, it is user friendly and it helps me to find problems quickly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about IBM Instana?**

the ux experience, the design, how calls are differenced

**What do you dislike about IBM Instana?**

Sometimes it's not easy to come back to the flow. If I find an error and I would to see all flow and come back to the first page I have to do all the flow

**What problems is IBM Instana solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instana log all call of my software and I use it to find errors in call and to see the flow of the calls
