**What do you like best about IBM Infosphere Optim?**

* Easy to archive structured data.
* Data from relational database can be archived as is in Optim.
* Data can be archived for as long as required.
* Highly inexpensive archival solution (I got 92 cents per GB/ per year in my organization!!)
* Access controlled and easy to manage.
* Helps comply with data retention guidelines

**What do you dislike about IBM Infosphere Optim?**

* Supports only structured data as far as I have understood

**Recommendations to others considering IBM Infosphere Optim:**

Highly recommend this product. It is inexpensive to archive data. Retrieving archived data can be done through simple DB queries.

**What problems is IBM Infosphere Optim solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* Data from the applications to be decommissioned needs to be archived/ retained for certain number of years in order to comply with existing regulations.
* Optim helps bridge that gap and provides an inexpensive but effective option.
