"IBM Digital Analytics is a good software for ecommerce"

What do you like best?

IBM Digital Analytics can be automated and allows you to come up with a good report design. I also like it because it is easier to implement IBM Digital Analytics as compared to other tools. IBM support team is very quick in troubleshooting so your activities will not stop in case of any technical problems.

What do you dislike?

Date sorting is always troublesome especially when it comes to creating custom reports. Customer support needs some improvements and sometimes IBM Digital Analytics can be very slow and frustrating.

Recommendations to others considering the product

IBM Digital Analytics was expensive when compared to Google analytics also it is easier to use Google Analytics as compared to IBM Digital Analytics because IBM Digital Analytics needs some technical skills but it is worth it since it is much better than Google Analytics.

"Much better analytics tools on the market"

What do you like best?

The fact that you can get IP session reports. This is one of the most useful reports I can get out of the tool. Very helpful with being able to spot fake traffic within the rest of our reports.

What do you dislike?

The worst part of the whole tool is the set up. Way too many tags that never seem to work properly. You have to actually hard code them on each page unlike Google Analytics where you can tag by the page URL. It's also extremely hard to create custom reports. Cannot even get a marketing channel with transaction ID. Makes it very hard to trust their attribution model ... Also, most custom reports take forever to run. There have been times I have waited over 2 hours and still didn't get an output. It's extremely annoying as a business user trying to answer questions for my boss since it's nearly impossible to find the answer.

Do not waste your money on this tool. Start with vetting Google Analytics or Adobe.

"Easy to use analytics software"

What do you like best?

I like the ease of use of the software and its user-friendly approach. It also has a lot of options to integrate existing data files in CSV or other formats.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes it gets hang and we have to start all over again. This problem was particularly apparent when uploading large files. Also, some unexpected error starts on the webpage as soon as the file is loaded sometimes.

"Switch to Google Analytics for your sanity"

What do you like best?

Overall, its ability to create custom reports isn't too bad. But when you have multiple analytics platform experience to compare across the board, I would not use IBM.

What do you dislike?

The IBM platform is outdated and very difficult to slice and dice large data sets. Unlike GA which has click to filter options and the ability to quickly create custom reports, the time it takes for the system to churn out the data and then the time to segment and analyze is very length.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely to try out a variety of different platforms before selecting this analytics package. Likely it is included as part of the out-of-the-box ecommerce package but try to invest in a secondary platform if possible.

This was our only option on one account and therefore we were required to use this platform. If I had my choice, I would not have used it and based on my experience there were no benefits of this platform over the others.

"usefulness will depend upon your integration"

What do you like best?

as far as an analytics platform goes, it is okay. it does compile your data, but can often be sloppy, and its effectiveness depends on your ability to integrate it properly

What do you dislike?

compared to google analytics it really falls short in its ability to measure user engagement on your site. Also, it has fairly rigid implementation standards, and a small problem with set-up causes drastic problems in its effectiveness. Also, unless you are using a tag manager software, you can cause serious damage to your SEO by relying on the cm_mmc tags, since you will effectively be creating duplicates of your pages with new urls every time you incorporate a new tag. It is not for beginners, but a good enterprise integration might be okay.

Recommendations to others considering the product

be very careful with implementation, and do not allow pages to be tagged without a tag management software. Or, just switch to the enterprise google suite, save money, and get a better product.

I would say that because of the difficulty in implementation, it caused more problems than it solved. We switched to google a few years back and not only got a less expensive product, but one that allowed us a better understanding of our metrics, and a more accurate recording of those metrics.

"Coremetrics vs. Google Analytics"

What do you like best?

I like the reporting features of Coremetrics, however I strongly feel that Google Analytics provides more accurate data, and is much easier-to-use as a product.

What do you dislike?

IBM being associated with Coremetrics. Coremetrics was much better prior to their integration with IBM. Their products seemed to have been on the decline since the integration.

Being a web developer, I have to say that the integration of Coremetrics compared to Google Analytics into a website is very time-consuming. Coremetrics seems to lack basic features that Google Analytics has, thus attributing to a slower integration process.

Everyday web tracking (page views, conversions, etc.).

IBM Digital Analytics was used to monitor on-site user behavior, highlight areas of drop-off across key lead capture pathways, provide direction, and historical aggregation of digital marketing initiatives and set performance benchmarks for an ecommerce acquisition channel.

what i don't like about it is that i can't really cant control my Mobile Email Report Delivery to verify my email report.

"Great for marketers and eCommerce!"

What do you like best?

IBM is great for finding quick reports and insights into your eCommerce business. Product reports, content reports, and even top down funnels are quick to access and interpret.

What do you dislike?

To get more advanced reporting or customer reporting is a bit more difficult. Segmentation is limited (although this should be going away soon) and often you must wait several minutes before getting access to the data you requested.

"Good if you have other IBM products"

What do you like best?

ties in well with Websphere commerce and its always nice having all the systems be under the same brand umbrella for seamlessness, support etc.

What do you dislike?

Its difficult to do custom time frames. They force you into choosing entire months or set periods. their real time monitor uses flash which doesn't always work on all machines/devices. no mobile app for android.

comparable to other analytics platforms, just make sure it has what you need in the format you need it. ask for samples of each of the reports you already know you need.

the real time monitor is great and allows for a lot of different monitoring options and does seem to be in real time (versus delayed a few minutes). lots of info and data points.

"Good for an IBM shop - otherwise there are better options"

What do you like best?

It's nice having all the systems be under the same brand umbrella for seamlessness, support etc. I work at an IBM shop, so this purchase was a no brainer for ease and simplicity.

What do you dislike?

Not very intuitive to use. It would be nice if there was more training material available. The learning curve is high based on my team's experience. I think there are simpler tools out there - personally I prefer Google's solution.

The behavior reports allow business customers to determine which pages users engage with the most and these metrics helps to determine what pieces need further investment and refining.

"OK if you have other IBM Stack products to integrate with"

What do you like best?

The focus on ecomm is nice and it was pretty easy to implement. It's less expensive than Adobe. It's great for ease of use with other IBM stack products otherwise a waste as a stand alone.

What do you dislike?

Too many limitations on reporting segments and output to get any good value from standard analytics. You have to use Explore for most anything interesting or useful. The pathing is difficult to use and the dashboards tiles can't be set to same timeframe is using differing visuals. Interface is clunky which I know they are updating or keep saying they will be, but if I can't get the data out I need we don't really care about the interface. The investment should be on back end function which is sadly outdated and not up to competitive standards. My analysts prefer to use Google or Adobe.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Unless you already have a few years of data invested in IBM or have needs to integrate with their other products, stick with Google or Adobe. Google has already surpassed them on ease of use and feature functions. Adobe is harder to implement and keep updated, but a good enterprise tool if willing to make the investment of the additional cost over IBM instead.

We've struggled to make ROI on the base analytics tool since we are not integrating with other IBM products. Most larger organization are likely to need the new unlimited Explore reports they've come out with to make any progress in the tool in site learnings and ROI.

"Tool could be useful only if adequately implemented and staff trained properly."

What do you like best?

The LiveView tool was very useful in gauging semi-real time user interaction with pages.

What do you dislike?

Retroactive reports are severely limited in scope. The 90 day custom date range limitation is very prohibitive. The inability to pull several months worth of reports at once is time consuming.

The credit system for running reports is an obstacle as once a report is run, the credit is used, even if variables selected for the report are incompatible and result in no data being reported. The inability for the system to recognize this in advance should be addressed.

I would definitely do your research before signing. The drawbacks definitely outweigh the benefits, and I would recommend Google Analytics over this.

"Too many limitations"

What do you like best?

The implementation was easy to understand, so creating a tagging solution was pretty simple. Though, note, I have a lot of experience implementing other tools. If you're new to web analytics tagging, it may be more difficult to understand.... certainly moreso than Google Analytics. Though it's MUCH easier than Webtrends.

What do you dislike?

I transitioned to IBMDA from NetInsight On-Demand. NIOD was my favorite web analytics tool, as it was incredibly flexible. I was severely disappointed by the lack of features and flexibility with IBMDA.

Wait for the new UI... then evaluate the tool.

"This makes life so much easier."

What do you like best?

It truly allows you to do your job effectively by narrowing down the data in an organized fashion. In the advertising business, it’s great, because you quickly learn which posts work and at what time you get the most feedback.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the fact that it doesn’t work with every internet browser as effectively.

I am advertising a book that I wrote. I am solving the problem of poor marketing on my behalf in the past. It makes a world of difference and it’s quite effective.

"A Well Rounded Product"

What do you like best?

IBM Digital Analytics (Coremetrics) is fairly easy to implement and maintain when compared to Site Catalyst. It is also a strong ecommerce analytics platform, which is the vertical I enjoy working with the most. The user interface is easy to navigate and standard reports are well designed. I also really like the integrations with other tools like Livemail, Recommendations (previously Intelligent Offer) and AdTarget.

What do you dislike?

Limitations of report segments and Explore reports makes it difficult to run all needed custom reports and ad hoc reports on the fly.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you are looking for a well rounded tool that gives you a good bang for your buck, IBM Coremetrics is the way to go. I would not leave out some of the other plugins though, as they provide some of the best ROI for this product. I would also try to negotiate for extra report segments and Explore report credits as part of the contract negotiation as these will be invaluable later.

I have primarily used Coremetrics for ecommerce clients, so my objectives have been to improve onsite conversion, average order value, and return buyer frequency. Coremetrics is an excellent platform for achieving these goals when plugged into Livemail, Recommendations (previously Intelligent Offer) and AdTarget. Through personalization, I have been able to realize marked improvements, sometimes doubling previous stats.

"Run away"

What do you like best?

I did like the ability to choice how much you spend on the service based on how many server calls you send.

What do you dislike?

The entire enterface was lacking and old. They really need a refresher! Also, the amount of manual dad adjustments (pages and server call estimates) are way too much effort. Google analytics is the best bang for the buck.

"CoreMetrics purely for advanced web analytics driven decision making"

What do you like best?

Coremetrics uses several stndard tags that are preset to collect different types of information (e.g. a “registration” tag that has slots for user info). Can add element tracking (similar to events) or extra attributes (similar to custom variables). Has special tags specifically for tracking clicks on a page, which is a neat feature that is unique to Coremetrics.

The other good thing about coremetrics is Coremetrics has built-in “Insights” reports that indicate when metrics are more than a standard deviation away. There are also some automated suggestions for action based on marketing sources with high engagement, products with high sales, products with high abandonment rate, etc.

What do you dislike?

There is no concept of rules

Not quite as easy as Google Analytics. i.e. Implementing Google Analytics is simple. After setting up an account, Google provides the code, which is then just included in every page as the last part before closing but coremtrics implementation is bit tough comparing to GA

Dashboards/Reports built from core metrics provides detailed insights on claim and quote metrics

From the behaviour reports the business customers are able to determine which pages users engage with the most and this data metrics helps to build those with sub-optimal engagement with further investment.

"Lots of Functionality; Poorly Supported"

What do you like best?

I like the advanced data analytics capability such as looking at the sales funnel by device segment (desktop, mobile, tablet). Feeds from Coremetrics integrate with our Big Data provider which gives us insights into customer behavior.

Running basic standard reports is fairly easy, however, many times you have to wait for it to run vs. it being available instantly (like Google Analytics)

CM has a lot of capability, but it isn't intuitive how to find and use a lot of it. In that sense Google Analytics is MUCH more intuitive to pick up and use without taking a bunch of classes.

What do you dislike?

--some basic reports have to be queued and then run vs. generating the report instantly like Google Analytics. I find this very inconvenient.

--The help documentation isn't very useful. Chat is only slightly more helpful but is generally completely unfamiliar with the flavor of our implementation.

--Support. It is very difficult to get help from a large company such as IBM when you are a smaller company. They'll reach out to you often to sell you more stuff, but they seem much less interested in helping you get the most out of what you already license from them.

--The product license if too modulized. For example, to simply get a time stamp on transactions in order to do accurate cross channel attribution requires an entirely new product at 40K+/year. Really ridiculous.

Make sure you get all the training you need upfront. If you are a smaller company, once you license the product, don't expect any kind of support from IBM. They truly treat you like a small fish in a very big pond.

We do a lot of tracking and advanced business analysis. Using CM, we have a much better idea of how certain paid channels are performing and the behaviors and performance of customers who come to us on a variety of devices. As mentioned earlier, a lot of our big data analysis comes form CM feeds, so in this respect it is quite useful.

"Specific Answers to Specific Questions"

What do you like best?

I have a very easy time finding the information that the rest of my company asks for on a regular basis and can dig into the explore reports to find answers to more complicated questions. There are very few times that I can't at least get close to an answer I'm looking for.

What do you dislike?

There is a steep learning curve associated with using the product effectively. I've been using it for 6 months and am still continuously finding new ways to better use the tool, or finding ways to data I didn't think I could find through it. With so much available it's a little daunting to start with.

It takes time to find what works best for the questions you are trying to solve, but once you find how it best fits your needs it can be an invaluable tool.

"Coremetrics Review"

What do you like best?

Presents clear and concise information. CM does a great job of providing all the information an e-commerce team would use or need to implement a strong e-commerce business.

What do you dislike?

The speed. It is incredibly slow. Moving on multiple thought processes is hard because the tabs don't allow you to move quickly in and between reports, hunches, and insights.

Monitoring trends is also extremely difficult. You can see how the business is doing during a particular time but not how that time period has been trending over x. The trending functionality is wonky.

Creating reports is not intuitive and usually requires an expert at the helm to do so. Whereas things programs like Omniture and Google Analytics are much more user-friendly.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Due your diligence and research other brands like Omniture and Google Analytics. It depends on how savvy your team is as well as what kind of resources you have at your disposal.

CM provides visibility and insights that a team may not be thinking of. It allows for nuggets of data to be mined but you need the full amount of resources to fully implement everything.

"Not as intuitive as other platforms, but highly customizable."

What do you like best?

I'd recommend using if your company is willing to back it up with a robust analytics team to be able to use it to its fullest extent.

What do you dislike?

For day to day reporting, when it is only a fraction of your particular role it is a bit of a waste of money when you have alternatives like GA out there.

Do not expect great support from IBM no matter how much you are paying.

Reports aren't as sexy as other reporting tools out there and aren't as sharable either.

The data is so different than what we see in GA, so it is really hard to decide what the source of truth really is. We never know which system to fully trust so it turns into a game depending on who is looking at the report and how they want to spin it.

Highly customizable and comes with analyst tools that are useful.

What do you dislike?

The product is clunky and challenging to use, as well as slow. It can be incredibly difficult to look at reports/data, export if you don't know what you're doing. It is also challenging to create custom reports on the fly. They charge you report "credits" every month and limit how many you can produce.

What do you like best?

I like the ease of IBM Digital Analytics and how easy I am able to get the word out.

"Fine for People Who Like Additional Challenges"

What do you like best?

Password change prompt is often so my log-in is hard to hack or access.

What do you dislike?

The font is so small I have to squint just to read it.

The dashboard's aren't really helpful and offer a low level of customization.

Not really user friendly and difficult to do simple tasks that can be done in seconds in Google analytics (i.e. isolate marketing channel traffic - i.e. Organic, Paid, Display - in the sales funnel).

The reports are not aesthetically pleasing and not "share-friendly".

The support and help features are garbage. Have a simple question? Prepare to wait only to be directed to their self-help documentation written primarily for seasoned developers.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Use Google Analytics, it is much easier, their documentation and support is superior, and it's much easier on your eyes. Both on a daily basis and with sharing.

Have no realized any benefits. Have to use the free version of Google analytics to get any actionable results and reports.

Generally, I use this software for campaign reporting, site health, AB Testing directives, Sales Funnel growth, and ad hoc analyses.

"It work really well for both online and offline store. You gain insights on your customers behavior"

What do you like best?

I was working for petsmart.com when I was able to use this software. During my tenure it gave me a very granular insights to see our customers purchasing behavior. This benefit me to create a yearly promotions from the past data I was able to gather from coremetrics in each of the landing additionally in our email blast promotions and pet perks.

What do you dislike?

I don't have any negative or dislike to coremetrics. I was one of the usual first time user when I first started utilizing this software in petsmart.com. So it was somewhat confusing at first however if you're somewhat tech savy and have used other analytic software you should be able to master it in a short time.

give inboud query for keywords and purchasing path.

I was able to see and realized the data based on customers purchase behavior. One good example was the a customer purchase this x item with this y item. This benefits you from advertising or doing a promotion around those items which can increase your AOV or Overall Revenue.

"CoreMetrics is an underdog, but good and reliable"

What do you like best?

The coremetrics interface is fairly well set-up, fairly easy to understand, and the platform is very reliable. At one point I was using Webtrends, Google Analytics, Omniture, and CoreMetrics all at once for my various clients. IBM CoreMetrics always did what I wanted it to do.

What do you dislike?

The interface is a little clunky and outdated, but it's not really a negative point, since it works so well.

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you're looking for an enterprise analytics package, don't want to use Google Analytics, and SiteCatyst is too much to swallow, then CoreMetrics is for you.

I used CoreMetrics in conjunction to a large enterprise website. It worked well as their major analytics platform.

"I have tryed it and fail to see how it is worth that much."

What do you like best?

The ecommerce part of the tagging and UI is complete, but the advantages stop there in my opinion.

What do you dislike?

The lack of easiness on the tool. The User interface is just not up to standard. The design of is looke like it was built 5 years agon and has to been updated. The documentation is hard to find. there is just nothing in french.

Get IBM Digital Analytics if your team focus only in ecommerce and even then, there are other tools to do just that. The implementation is longer than the leading free competitor. make your choice based on the benefits this solution brings not just the cost.

"So far so good"

What do you like best?

The reporting interface is easy to navigate and I can find what I am looking for. Building custom reports doesn't seem hard but I need to play around more with it.

What do you dislike?

It's tough to capture native mobile button clicks and everything. I don't know the best way to architect a solution that fits every technology and is maintainable.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are able to track what people are doing on Android and iPhone/iPad each day and see what delivers value and what people don't use.

"Coremetrics Review"

What do you like best?

The ability to speak to a live consultant online when there are issues or questions regarding reporting tools.

What do you dislike?

The inability to pull all metrics in one report and currently working within two clients instead of one. We then have to match the reports back to each other which can create issues with data alignment. Also, the extent of mobile data is limited as well as being limited to a certian number of monthly reports and the lack of historical data.

Trying to solve for real time issues and harnessing all of our data/metrics into one DB to create better reporting.

"Very difficult interface to understand and navigate. Has nothing on Adobe and GA."

What do you like best?

There were very few positive features worth noting. I had to use this as my client had this as their enterprise level analytics tool. The scheduled reporting function worked, but found the whole experience very poor and do not look forward to using it again in future.

What do you dislike?

Where do I start? The interface looks about 20 years old and designed by somebody with very little concept of user experience and design. The tool is not at all intuitive which makes the whole process of extracting data extremely difficult, which, in turn, made my role tricky to say the least.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The basic premise of using this tool was to extract the clients' data, then feed it into a dashboarding tool, BIME. The data metrics were unclear and the whole process was quite messy.

"Worth considering vs. or alongside other analytics packages"

What do you like best?

The variety of display modes - graphic, text, table, etc.

What do you dislike?

Interface can be a little bit clunky- maybe I'm just not familiar enough with it, but it doesn't seem very intuitive.

"Overpriced for offering"

What do you like best?

It's a very robust system, but not that much better than Google Analytics (which is free). Dynamic capabilities with some of their other tools. It's able to create dynamic product recommendations based off of user data.

What do you dislike?

It's very expensive and not that much better than Google Analtyics. They keep changing their tool, but the last time I used it, it was in flash and took forever to load. Their real-time data is not that great. It's a pain to have to tag every link with their coding.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Stick with Google analytics if you're a small or medium business. If you're a big business with a dedicated analyst, it might make sense to implement Coremetrics.

"Excellent but significantly complex"

What do you like best?

The capabilities seem endless. It is a bit overwhelming. The accuracy of the reporting appears very good.

Very expensive. Comes along with IBM suite of services which means they will hound you for more business.

"New UI"

What do you like best?

The new UI is easy to read and understand.

What do you dislike?

It's still not easy to use. I have yet to receive training on how to build reports.

We pay for the tool and have had a lengthy contract, and we've yet to have time to get in and decipher how to build dashboards to track KPIs.

Coremetrics’ tabbed reporting is its best feature

What do you dislike?

Some of their products crash, and the interfaces are outdated. No customization.

Lack of segmentation options in their main reporting suite

Coremetrics report load response times were very poor

I have been to looking to improve onsite conversion, average order value, and new/return buyer frequency.
