All companies I've met that use DB2 use it in Mainframe environments, which is practically impossible to replicate on a small scale to study. And all training I've seen for DB2+Mainframe, are absurdly expensive, because the professional who can teach is expensive and the environment to study too. That's why I see few professionals working with this technology. To be honest, I don't remember any DBA my age who paid to learn DB2; the few I met, already worked in a company and received the training. **Recommendations to others considering IBM Db2:** You have to calculate very well the financial cost of using IBM. When I had access to the costs, compared to Oracle and MSSQL, it was the highest. Whether in licenses, hardware and especially professionals. **What problems is IBM Db2 solving and how is that benefiting you?** The last project I worked on directly with DB2 was in 2011. As I couldn't learn the technology, I focused my studies on competing databases such as Oracle and MSSQL. ### 2.
