4/5
What do you like best about IBM Cognos Analytics?

IBM Cognos Analytics makes complex business numbers easy to understand. It combines all your company’s data in one secure spot, creates clear automated reports, and lets you ask plain-English questions to get quick, visual answers—so you can make smart decisions without relying on IT. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Cognos Analytics?

It feels heavy, clunky, and kind of outdated.

Getting simple charts often requires jumping through unnecessary hoops. The interface isn't intuitive, and because it's so complex, you usually end up stuck waiting for IT just to get the exact report you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust Reporting and Automation for Banking Needs"
3.5/5
What do you like best about IBM Cognos Analytics?

I use IBM Cognos Analytics at DBS Bank for its robust reporting capabilities, especially in handling large banking datasets reliably. The ability to schedule report delivery is particularly valuable for our time-sensitive financial reporting requirements. Cognos's robust reporting handles complex financial data structures and large transaction volumes without breaking down, giving our team confidence that the numbers presented to leadership and regulators are accurate and reliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Cognos Analytics?

A few specific areas — real-time data refresh could be faster, which matters in a banking environment where data changes rapidly. The mobile experience needs significant improvement for on-the-go report access. Also, better out-of-the-box financial and banking-specific report templates would save our team considerable setup time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Cognos Analytics: Enterprise Reporting Made Smarter"
5/5
What do you like best about IBM Cognos Analytics?

I have mainly used Cognos for basic reporting and dashboards. It is helpful when working with large data since everything can be managed in one place.

At first it was a bit confusing for me, but after spending some time it became easier to understand. I liked that we can connect data from different sources and create reports without switching between tools. For day to day reporting it works fine and performance is mostly okay.

I am not very sure about pricing, but I feel for bigger companies it makes sense because of the features it provides. Getting started could be a little better, especially for new users who are trying it for the first time.

I have not really used the AI features much, but I have seen some suggestions in the tool which seem useful while working on reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Cognos Analytics?

In the beginning it was a bit difficult for me to learn and understand. The interface also feels a little outdated compared to tools like Power BI or Tableau.

Sometimes reports take time to load, especially when working with large data. It also needs some technical knowledge if you want to use advanced features, which can make it a bit harder for new users.

Getting started could be slightly better in terms of support or guidance. Also, I haven’t really used the AI features much, so I’m not very familiar with that part. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Self-Service Reporting with a Steep Learning Curve"
3.5/5
What do you like best about IBM Cognos Analytics?

I use IBM Cognos Analytics to explore and visualize data from various sources. I like the self-service capability, as it allows me to build reports and dig into data without depending on anyone else. The feature that works really well for me is the scheduling and automated report delivery, which lets me set up a report once and receive it in my inbox at a fixed time without any manual intervention. I find IBM Cognos Analytics better suited for structured, enterprise-grade reporting needs, especially compared to my previous experience with Microsoft Power BI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Cognos Analytics?

The initial setup and configuration can be a bit overwhelming, especially for first-time users. The learning curve is steeper than I'd expect for a modern analytics tool. I think the installation process itself could be simplified significantly. Right now it involves too many manual configuration steps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
