Boasting cost-savings, control, and visibility that is needed with a variety of flexible provisioning and pricing options, including single and multi-tenant environments, hourly and monthly pricing, reserved capacity terms and spot billing. Its elastic infrastructure, globally distributed data centers and premium services aim to bring data to life no matter where it resides. ## IBM Cloud Virtual Servers Reviews ### 1. Great PaaS based on OpenSource Could Foundering mixed with IBM Stack products **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Michal K. | Websphere BPM Integration Architect, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2015 **What do you like best about IBM Cloud Virtual Servers?** IBM Bluemix is based on Cloud Foundry, an open PaaS (platform as a service) to provide customers a choice of clouds. A PaaS model allows developers to focus on writing code since all infrastructure including the application servers are provided. This enables developers to build applications rapidly in local IDEs and push the applications to the cloud. This ease of use however comes at the expense of having less control over the infrastructure which is needed in certain scenarios or environments. IBM created a Marketplace where you can sell your app or make it available for free. Some of the most impressive IBM stack technologies are available for use like Websphere Liberty, DB2, MQ Light, SMS services and so on, you can pick and choose. To some extend the usage is for free. (Up to 2GB RAM for Liberty App Servers etc.) **What do you dislike about IBM Cloud Virtual Servers?** The connection config between some of the containers is better written than for others. Some do generate a complete config set, for some others you need to deep dive into the documentation to understand the connection mechanism. **What problems is IBM Cloud Virtual Servers solving and how is that benefiting you?** This shift of technology will benefit mainly small and medium companies wanting to rapidly start development without investing a lot of money in to hardware, administration and man hours. From and Architecture perspective it's an evolution of SOA. Although I don't see this kind of technology in any Finance/Banking, Insurance or Government sector project. The privacy of the data is more important so a Cloud Solution is just not an option. I also don't see the use of BPM , ESB products to be integrated into cloud solutions because of the privacy constrains of the messages. ### 2. We can develop applications using Web IDE and Eclipse – while storing our code directly on Bluemix. It supports several programming languages and services[ **What do you dislike about IBM Cloud Virtual Servers?** The one thing I dislike about Cloud foundry is that I can’t test an app easily without constantly pushing it to the cloud if it uses a lot of services. I’d love to see a future where I could pull down all of these services in a micro cloud on my laptop and then push to the cloud and bind to scalable services there. **What problems is IBM Cloud Virtual Servers solving and how is that benefiting you?** In practical terms, we are building cloud applications thatl: Reduce time for application/infrastructure provisioning Allow for flexible capacity Help to address any lack of internal tech resources Reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Accelerate exploration of new workloads – social, mobile, big data ### 3. IBM CLoud **Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Prasad R. | Proj Leader, Mining & Metals, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2014 **What do you like best about IBM Cloud Virtual Servers?** Anywhere, anytime, we use it for our lotus notes email system which is also an IBM product but in spite of that there has been multiple downtime and that has caused lost productivitiy, both internally and external communications with our key cusotmers / vendors etc. **What do you dislike about IBM Cloud Virtual Servers?** 99% uptime.. still not good, if imy business is on the cloud 99% is not good.
