  ### 41. IBM Integration Bus

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ajai L. | Sr. Middleware Engineer, Semiconductors, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2015

**What do you like best about IBM App Connect?**

Very stable Enterprise Data Integration product from IBM, its been in market for more than a decade with different names and currently its being called IBM Integration Bus. Have used it from v8, easy to install and administer, lot of adapters to connect with different third party software. With the latest versions, MQ dependency has been removed and makes it a much more feasible for SOA implementation in an organization.

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

Adapters for cloud application can be added in toolkit e.g, salesforce.com. Heard newer versions might be an hardware appliance which might be costlier than the earlier software installations.

**What problems is IBM App Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration of different internal and external software applications.

  ### 42. Have been a savior!!

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

Date functions could be better.
The UI needs to improve as it become a difficult to navigate.

Please build a better UI.

  ### 43. Very useful even in complicated designs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about IBM App Connect?**

I am doing Cast Iron implementation more than three years now and I can tell you, its a great product from IBM. One can easily integrate the system as per their requirement. Most importantly it has a lot of standard functions and logic activities, which help to build a complicated logic very quickly.

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

Cast Iron studio can not take much load, it gives a java heap size error. For that you need to enhance the heap size. But ideally the product should take care of that.

**What problems is IBM App Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From my experience I can say it can solve any problem regarding the data transformation from a source to a target. You just need to know, how the logic can be write. If you can build a logic with the help of activities, you can avail a great benefit.

  ### 44. Easy to use integration software that does integration right

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorge B. | Distinguished Technical Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2014

**What do you like best about IBM App Connect?**

Development environment is very easy to install use. Learning curve is relatively small compare to other competitor software. The connectors do a very good job of hiding repetitive tasks and hideous details. It is very intuitive to use.

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

Runtime environment requires using a virtual image, some customers initially dislike this, but it is much easier than installing similar software from scratch.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM App Connect:**

It is a very good entry point for an integration product in terms of price, complexity and capabilities.

**What problems is IBM App Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration with Salesforce.com. I have done integration to Salesforce directly via Web Service API, and the Salesforce connector abstracts a lot of the hideous implementation details that you should not need to worry about. It is definitely a time saver.

  ### 45. Cast Iron gets it done

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2014

**What do you like best about IBM App Connect?**

Flexibility in form factor deployment - choose SaaS, Virtual SW, or a Physical Appliance and easily move data between them all with little to no hiccups. It is also great to have an Unlimited Endpoint configuration option. In addition it is easy to generate documentation of the orchestrations - better if you really leverage comments. the TIPS are helpful to get started also. The up-time is 99.8% i believe which is huge!

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

They could have more diverse connectors - of course all the major ERP connectors available, CRM and major Cloud applications; however, they are not quick enough to respond with adding new connectors especially to some of the new cloud apps in the market

**What problems is IBM App Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

streamlining quote-to-cash processes, revenue recognition, orders, invoices, RMA's, inventory management, contract management - all these business problems can be solved when Cast Iron is the tool leverage between your CRM and ERP systems. The tool is equipped to manage complex business rules and also for robust error handling

  ### 46. A decent product that could be so much better

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2014

**What do you like best about IBM App Connect?**

For simple orchestrations and point to point connections, this app works great. It is very easy to use and the learning curve is very small.

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

For large data volumes, the cast iron application generally has performance issues. While they have fixed these in the newer releases, the upgrades have been a bit painful.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM App Connect:**

Do consider data volumes before going cast iron

**What problems is IBM App Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Point to point integration of master data and transactional data in to Salesforce

  ### 47. Cast Iron delivers results, but not always reliably

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David W. | IT Solution Architect, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2014

**What do you like best about IBM App Connect?**

The one thing that cannot be denied about Cast Iron is how easy it can be to drag and drop together a fully functional system integration in only a few hours. Anyone with basic knowledge of programming and control flow can easily put together a simple integration.

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

On large scale deployments with dozens of separate integrations running concurrently, troubleshooting issues is nearly impossible. Unless you work directly with IBM support, certain troubleshooting is actually not even possible (looking at/understanding logs and accessing the system shell in particular.)

Our deployment had memory issues that ended up being the result of a bug in one of the connectors. After working for weeks with IBM on the issue, they released a patch to fix it.

**What problems is IBM App Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been very successful with integrations between our ERP and CRM systems.

  ### 48. The Quickest and most Economical Integration Product so far

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2014

**What do you like best about IBM App Connect?**

I like the Web Management Console feature. It helps us maintain the Integrations, view logs, set up user accounts. Also, the Studio is very user friendlly, it helps build comples logic with just drag and drop of activities

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

Sometimes the orchestration status get "stuck" while starting/stopping orchestrations. The status button gets greyed out and the only way out is to restart the WMC or choose the "Stop All Jobs in Progress" command.

**Recommendations to others considering IBM App Connect:**

Cast Iron works very well with real time and small data volume integrations.

**What problems is IBM App Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are Integrating People Soft with Oracle On Demand by pulling in Accounts information. We also have a very robust Data Wareshouse into which the data from Oracle On Demand is pulled and stored. We use this data warehouse to further build important reports.

  ### 49. IBM WebSphere Cast Iron works really well.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2014

**What do you like best about IBM App Connect?**

It greatly reduced the developing time, compared to Java.

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

Some display bugs in studio are annoying, I had to close and re-open the orchestration to restore the view.

**What problems is IBM App Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work for a transportation and logistics company. Our software are built in CRM salesforce.com. We use IBM WebSphere Cast Iron to perform integration between our EDI server and force.com platform. Cast Iron works really great, the implementation is much quicker than using Java. It also provides friendly UI, which is also very help.

  ### 50. CastIron review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2014

**What do you like best about IBM App Connect?**

Castiton is a very good tool to develop interfaces with very little programming experience. East to use drag and drop developing interface.

**What do you dislike about IBM App Connect?**

Castiron does not provide ability to provide global variables. Configuration properties at each interface level is not sufficient for all requirements. Not having single log file for entire interface activity, sometimes its tedious to go thorough each and every step to get complete picture of the log.

**What problems is IBM App Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used castiron for developing various interfaces between salesforce and various heterogeneous applications. The benefits were the amount of time taken is very optimal to develop and test interfaces.
