Though it provide API authentication mechanism but it lack feature to bind token againsts session/user. There should a way to do soo

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me it act as a gateway for outside world.

  ### 32. I am a software developer having more then 8 years of experience, 2 plus years on APIC.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2021

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

it's very easy to use, the best thing is the OOB dev portal option.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

the searching option is missing in different pages e.g. catalogue pages, unable to search by the path. Can't open API directly from catalog, there should be a link.

IP whitelisting option is also missing.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

handling different environments to publish APIs. exposing the APIs through the dev portal.

  ### 33. My Experience with IBM API has been a good one.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2021

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

IBM API connect provides a feasible and excellent way to register and design your APIs.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

Nothing particular as such . The features I used were as per my expectation.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem of having grouped set of APIs and manage them in a secure way with benefits of great toll to design API and apply policies reducing adhoc development work.

  ### 34. Working for IBM cloud integration using IBM API Connect

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** BIPLAB C. | Senior Project Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2021

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

It is scalable and easy to integrate the different systems

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

Logging facility which needs to customize

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration problems, from a benefits point of view It is very easy to integrate systems

  ### 35. Great tool to build and publish our apis to end users

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** dharmendra h. | Principal Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2020

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

Developer portal,Api manager, gateway instance and analytic instance.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

Need more customize feature for osuth, oid which seemsbto be in new releases.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to solve complexity and reducing time in exposing our services as a APi

  ### 36. A true APIM Product

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Punit K. | Integration Architect, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

APIC as an APIM product suite is a complete tool for API management and for microservices as well. I liked the control it gives to the governance and the analytics for product owners which is critical for product design and pricing. From a security and management point of view, I like the space management within the catalogs. The built-in policies security, mediation and transport are well defined.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

There could have been more policies in the security section, a little better UI because sometimes it becomes little too confusing to browse through the different features. There should be a recovery process for lost API secret for app consumer. If they forget to copy paste their client secret then its tough on them.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The APIC is being used for enabling the interdepartmental communication by exposing the services as API which need a minimum transformation and primarily read-only in nature. Some of the services are also exposed to external partners to fetch data.

  ### 37. API connect review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

The run time - datapower is the fastest and best run time engine

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

Cloud dissociations ,
upgrade releases have so many bugs that we have to keep repeatedly using ifixes to upgrade

**Recommendations to others considering IBM API Connect:**

Will recommend for api management

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

API management

  ### 38. APIC

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

Of the 1700+ APIs we Service, of the 600+ teams developing those services, with all the traffic they can produce, the Management alone is fluid, functional, stable, easy to task, and monitor or track. Providing "Consumer" Applications and Backend Service Developers the space/time they need independently to develop and advace their services, develope their product, increase their feature stack, and provide changes at better rates than typicle 'client - server' relationships/infastructure/arcetecture.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

Its a simplified service with simple demands and simple archetecture, that QUICKLY can become a 'beast' to move/migrate/manipulate when a known "feature" is redicovered, or new fundamental change is rolled out. Dramatic, Visible, and Orcastrational changes can impact consumers and developers with what appears to be a whole new Product rather than an updated more current and 'intune' verson.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploying APIC as a Midileware service, to allow for Fontend and Backend service Developers to Change on independent timelines. Consumers can see opportunities in other products that are more adequate to their use-case and drive development better, because the ease of change is available.

  ### 39. I like it but...

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joakim A. | Integration Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

It is every easy to understand how to create an API and also publish it. The documentation of API Connect is nice as well.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

It is very hard to debug a policy once it created. I would like to have the same possibility to debug as you get in the IBM Integration Bus, to be able to see the different headers and the message body.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The way of making applications more accessable.

  ### 40. Used in production to desing implement strangler pattern

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

For me the best feature is that gateway is run on Datapower and it is reliable and easy to develeop and administer the product. Basing main deployment artefacts on open specifiaction and extending with custom stuff is a way to go. This enable implementation CI/CD processes.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

Sometimes analytics gathering is broken and we have incosistent analytics data. Restart of manager VM and/or DP domain helps. Not a blocker for me but it would be nice if it would be fixed.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Implemented strangler pattern by exposing large custom build Entreprise system as a set of well defined APIs so we can break the monolith into something more managable.

  ### 41. New in API Connect

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

IT gives us analytics, makes exposing APIs to clients much easier, it gives us a central point for consuming and managing APIs

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

The fact the whenever we have to upgrade datapower, we have to delete the gateway server from API connect then re add it again after the datapower upgrade. I wish this dependency will be removed in the future as it is a bit disruptive and doing firmware upgrades should be as simple and transparent as possible

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We purchased API Connect so we have a central point to manage APIs. It also made it easier for us to expose our APIs to consumers.

  ### 42. API Connect

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Viji E. | VP, IT Solution Engineering, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

Ability to API enable our core assets, and sunset several other API tools such as API Manager, APIgee, WSRR.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

When we started implementing API Connect, there was no elegant way to just do discovery the services. I believe my tech team has been working to get that issue resolved.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Democritizing data; breaking monoliths into micro services to enable agility.

  ### 43. Recently installed API Connect

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

Love that we are moving to a unified platform to house all of our organizations API's. Certainly beats trying to determine whether an API already exists. We have just begun to roll this out across the organization and it has been incredibly well received.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

Like anything it takes time to roll out any new technology - while we are moving it would be great to move much quicker.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Providing us visibility and accessibility for our APIs managed in one place.
2. Benefits - everyone wants to use it and adoption has been incredibly high.

  ### 44. Feedback

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** yugesh n. | Integration Platform Owner, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

security and ease of use, allows developers out of Integration to do integration

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

in v5 you donot have too much control, you have to keep calling IBM, and the response time is not too good.
No Load balancer groups On APIM

**Recommendations to others considering IBM API Connect:**

Go with the Latest Version

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

allowing feature teams ro do their own integration

  ### 45. Love the product except few areas which can be improved

**Recommendations to others considering IBM API Connect:**

APIConnect is a good product with DataPower as a security gateway

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Exposing legacy functions as api's for faster time to market. IBM APIConnect has helped us stay ahead in the race

  ### 46. API Connect and open banking

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

We moved our API management from a custom approach to an industrial product like API Connect and that's when we thought about all the features we were missing with our previous product.

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

What I don't like very much is the statistics UI but we moved all of our logs to syslog.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With PSD2 european directive all the banks will have to expose their client's data to other third parties.
We are using IBM API Connect to fullfil this requirement.

  ### 47. Great functionality but so-so customizability

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about IBM API Connect?**

We required the functionality of an API Manager and API Connect answered 95% of all our requirements

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

Extremely difficut to customize the UI that we had to work with an IBM partner to modify it to suit our requirements

**Recommendations to others considering IBM API Connect:**

Its functionality is ex ceptional, but check the price and the ease of customization.

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to monetize our financial functionality and use a single platform for all our internal applications requiring access to our core systems

  ### 48. A market leading product

Good set of security features out of the box

**What do you dislike about IBM API Connect?**

Does not fully support our change implementation strategy for product upgrades
No native HSM support other than Luna (which doesnt support HA)
We have had to write extensions for native features not currently available in v5

**What problems is IBM API Connect solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Open Banking APIs exposed to regulated TPPs
Interal APIs exposed to key channels (e.g. internet banking)
Ease of onboarding
Data insights and market intelligence
