IA Writer is great for writing long or short pieces of prose, the typography is the real hallmark of this application, each mode you're in have a typeface chosen with great care, there are also some advanced features when editing your text, like the syntax mode that picks out the adjectives, nouns, verbs, etc. from your text to help you in editing the content.

The markdown support also works really well for my needs, and the cloud sync means that the files are always there, in the IA library, regardless of what machine I'm on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don't think I dislike any aspect of the app. It's important to note though that this isn't an editor you'd use for writing code, it's a plain text editor for writing prose. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The features that make iA Writer stand out with respect to similar alternatives are:

- iCloud support

- clean, simple, beautiful interface, distraction free interface

- perfect integration with iOS app

It is a little costly but the price is acceptable, given the benefits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Not much to like, really. iA Writer is essentially a thought pad. Aside from it's Fountain support it is not very unique. I tried it on and off for a period of six months and never found it to be essential. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The cloud integration could use some improvement. Overall, it doesn't really have any standout features. Pages is a similar app that does many of the same thing, but it also does a lot more. Given the choice between the two, I would choose Pages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
